NCAA Football 2025
Not sure who will win this year, hopefully Arch goes nuts and UT can kick the door in after making the quarterfinals the
I was wrong a lot but I was right about ND winning out and still missing playoffs somehow.
Yep, good call.
Pretty meh about Bama making it without being in the top 8, but at least itβs a rematch where we had 95% win equity the first time. Actually the thing I do like about it is how MAD everyone is after being 100% in camp βcanβt count championship gamesβ last year. Bittersweet, I assure you.
You canβt say the committee isnβt consistent, har har.
Didnβt decline is probably a better way to phrase that.
Notre dame comes off as self righteous losers here. Iβm taking my football and going home!

Anybody who thinks Bama doesn't deserve to be in is just a hater or an irrational ND fan. Penalizing them for playing a championship game is so ridiculous it deserves zero discussion. Their 10-2 record needs to be compared to ND's 10-2 record (no advantage for sitting on the couch), and it's obvious they deserve to go over ND. ND beat no one. And it is just as obvious Miami deserves in over ND. H2H. The games have to matter or what the **** are we doing here. So overall, the committee did the best job possible in an impossible situation.

There are many reasons to find Alabama non-deserving without being irrational or an ND fan.
After the SEC Championship game the committee probably said... "Bama did get a score, right? In the 4th quarter, wasn't it? And a quality point after, as well." Yup, they played well. lol.. "And, don't forget that last week we said Bama looked good against Auburn, even though they looked awful."
"Even better, let's come up with some crazy flip-flop on ND/Miami and maybe people won't notice that us wanting Bama in no matter how bad they looked won't even be a storyline."
Vandy had a great year and feels like with that resume they would make the playoff 80% of the time.
I still think pavia is more live for the Heisman than the market thinks. Probably end up losing close in the end, though.
not your damn willing traditional college to refuse testing themselves and their endowment for the sake of all football christianity against the current state of u-haul talk tall tales of how good the mormanism baby passing game is for this country
to be clear i have no stake on either side, just having fun with words

Notre Dame spent 40 years with a no-bowl policy until the AP started awarding nattys *after* the bowls. Iβm not sure the βjust an exhibitionβ view isnβt the way to go now too. After all, FSU 23 showed up with half an indifferent team that got humiliated then **** out a 2-10 follow-up season. Maybe not the worst thing to avoid, assuming most of their starters would be opting out for the draft or portal. Why risk anyone getting hurt or tarnishing the brand, plus the same reason teams stopped having spring games; screen time turns solid backups into portal targets?
Itβs not like ND needs the money and what good are βextra practicesβ in the portal age anyway.
Bowls are pointless. Probably gone in like 10 years.
The people in charge are just too dumb to write good enough rules. Smart people can look at rules and envision all sorts of things that could happen, and then think of solutions, dumb people cannot imagine that something can happen until they actually see it with their own two eyes.
The ACC tiebreaker is stupid, but I don't want to pick on the ACC since lots of other conferences use it too. And the "top 5 champions" is stupid. What they actually intended to do was make sure each P4 team got a seat and make sure at least 1 G5 team gets a seat. So DO THAT.
The American is actually smart. They said "hey, we are competing with all other G5 conferneces to get 1 team in, so we want to make sure we put our best foot forward for the good of the confernece." So their tiebreaker after h2h is just straight up "who is ranked higher by the committee?" That's good! That's smart! It accomplishes your goals!
It's ridiculous that JMU is in the playoffs. Tulane actually beat the ACC champion and a 6-6 P4 Northwestern team and UNT, and their conference mates also won some solid P4 games. They aren't close to one of the top-12 teams or top-12 best resumes, but given we all agreed G5 should get a spot every year they earned that spot.
JMU is there on a stupid technicality becuase these bozos can't write their rules correctly.
If they just wrote the rules like they intended, "each p4 team gets a bid which will be the champ unless the champ is unranked and a different team in the conference is ranked and also the conference has no other people in" and "the top ranked g5 champ" then Miami gets the ACC's bid, Notre Dame is in, and everybody is more or less happy.
They just need a scheduling czar who can schedule mid year games which will be a de-facto expansion of the playoff bubble into the regular season.
It was obvious for weeks and weeks that we'd have a huge bubble, and we could've actually done something about it.
I wonder if "conference championship games don't count against you" is kind of code for "SEC championship game doesn't count against you," or at least is moving that way. They don't want to eliminate a super strong contender in a photo because they made their championship game and didn't win it.
It seems they kind of stuck by their guns in terms of that and in terms of heads-up eliminating Notre Dame. Notre Dame's reaction seems ridiculous, just imagine if they had beaten Miami and reverse the situation? Their bowl stance is meh ... how much money does that cost the school? Seem to be more teams bowing out of bowl consideration so some 5-7 teams might get in, I don't know how many 6 win teams there were this year.

If Notre Dame asked me for money I would point out they just proved they are not willing to play a football game for a lot of money because it is beneath them.

American also avoids the playing a lot of cash games like the Sunbelt or MAC so their champ will not have too many losses.

Yes that is exactly correct. They implemented a poll tax that their preferred voters couldn't pay while a few bums read the rules and gamed it by scrounging up enough change to play.

If they knock Bama out of CFP then it's rage fuel for Sankey who probably axes the SECCG. That can't happen because too many bloodsucking leeches are entitled to stealing that pot of free money.
