yeah, you are right. The song espouses Christian values (love, understanding, patience, humility, trusting your soul, etc) and also not seeking wealth or getting caught up in greed, but it is not really about God as such.. So, fair points on your part.

I don’t mind this song, and it’d probably rank higher in a different category. I just don’t personally find sinister circus music particularly fun.

Anytime I hear this song I am so distracted by the terrible lyrics. It’s a fun song, sure. But wow, those lyrics are bad.

If I were to do a retrospective of this walrus at some point, I predict this might actually drop in the rankings quite a bit. But it’s fun enough and, for now, I don’t hate it.

This is the best song of this category, and one of the best songs submitted through four rounds. I’ve avoided this artist (and my decision to make this a category stemmed from a snarky comment I made regarding a song I accidentally heard of theirs), but I think I should go ahead and take an intentional listen now. I struggle with the category fit, because I find this song way more sad than fun. But I’m going to talk myself into it being fun enough to place 4th here, because while I can’t allow it to podium, it sure as **** ain’t gonna place below all the other stuff.

I swapped this and 2nd place a few times, but this is where I landed. This is definitely a fun listen and a good submission, and I agree with the entrant’s comment that Australia needs to export more stuff like this than the musical atrocities they’ve forced on us the past several years.

In 2nd place scoring 10 points:

The person who submitted this thought this song was called something else and they submitted a hyperlink to a Neil Young song that is decidedly not fun. But, once I got things cleared up, I wasn’t disappointed. Maybe this isn’t as fun lyrically, but it deals with a tough subject in a lighthearted way, which makes it a nice, fun listen for me.

This one bounced around for me a bit before I realized it was exactly what I was looking for with this category: lyrics that don’t suck, music that energizes me, and a presentation that doesn’t take itself too seriously. This song has humor, sarcasm, double entendre, and a quote from Mean Girls. Pretty goddamned fun, if you ask me.
