Connections NYTimes game thread, very official
Connections is a cool NYTimes game but you may have to pay to play along. You start with 16 items and try to guess the correct 4 groups.
I was perfect today, easier than it's been lately.
It's a fun game
I got today. I get most days.
Only time I miss is when the categories are things I'd never know about, like "70s MLB stars" or "Congressman Homohones" and the like.
Wanna start playing daily and posting in spoiler tags? I've never cared about the order of the groups before but I might start trying if there's a little competition
I play this daily even though some things are kind of ridiculous/not knowing 1 weird alternate never used word meaning can make the whole thing unsolvable sometimes
fun game tho, my daily rotation at midnight goes pokle(reverse solve a poker board, I feel keeps me sharp), spotle(people played this and it can be obscure many days but I still try), wordle, connections, and finally strands
5 hours before i play metazooa which has a daily animal you have 20 guesses to figure out which is kind of fun
I've never given any thought at all to the order of the groups. How would that work?
I'll admit I'm just trying to get the right groupings, not that concerned with the order in which they're picked.
And I didn't even get a single group right today lol. I swear I'm usually not this bad.
Never played before, fun game, had trouble with the green group and a 5th word I thought was included.
Didn't show my score at the end? Not logged in though
I still don't get purple
Oh damn
28
Spoiler
Got the first group easily enough and then got a little stuck. Got myself unstuck by focusing on SOXER. It reeked of a purple clue where the meaning of the word is not important and it's all about the letters. Finally clicked and then the others followed.
I also wasn't helped by the fact that I didn't know what a PAWL or a MAILER was.

I got today's, no misses.
I've been playing the Pips game too, it's kinda cool as well. I stop after easy and medium.
Got purple first then one miss on yellow then got the rest. I'm a bit impatient for this game.
I didn't know the words xander didn't know really either, thought they must be more British uses but maybe not.

I find I most often struggle when categories include slang (or sometimes normal) terms that I don't know. And then sometimes categories are just too American centric or topics I know very little about.
no misses again
Spoiler
the car homophones took me awhile
Most straightforward one for me so far
Spoiler
The car homophones only works with an American accent btw
The game was more enjoyable when it first came out. Seems like they are struggling now to find reasonable groups of four. Also, have noticed they are using some pretty obscure words at times. Sometimes never and sometimes 2 or 3 in a game.
I just Google the definition, at least rudimentary. I ain't about that life.
Now I'm trying to figure out which life I'm about.
Maybe I'm like Barton Fink and it's the life of the mind, but I'm just to dumb to know it.
We can only know the lives we're not about
