Always wondered why Bird didn't coach the Celtics. With their great propensity for hiring their ex or current players as head coaches, it seemed a no-brainer. So I just looked it up. It looks like the Celtics had signed the great Rickie P right when Larry started his coaching career.

I guess the Mavs won't be trading AD.

AD could excuse himself to go to the bathroom and there is a 50% chance he sustains an injury wiping his ass.

Durant into 7th on the all time scoring list. Will move into 6th in the next couple of weeks. Likely top 5 by the end of the season.

I'm not sure if there is a guy that has made scoring look so effortless.

26.2 ppg on 52.1/40.3/89.4 splits this year.

he's an effortless cupcake snake too. Probably top 3 OAT

Durant's 3 % went up a good bump after his Achilles injury. I wonder if he practiced his shot a lot during that time.

The hornets out rebounded the Jazz 65-31. I've never seen that type of ratio before.

Hornets 21 offensive rebounds. Jazz 20 defensive rebounds.

Zion Williamson

4-4 on 3's in the first game of his career.

So far he's never even attempted 4 in game since. Even 3 attempts has only happened a couple of times.

If you watch the clip of him making those you would not be surprised. His shot is slow and busted AF. It’s like that video of Rodman randomly making a bunch of 3s one time.

Never doubt Spida’s WILpower

Jazz should NOT have been 13 point dogs.

Totally agree. I actually don't think he gets enough love for how good he is offensively. And he is a super underrated passer.

Sixers about to spank that ass tonight.

I have nowhere to brag on my 8-year-old kid without sounding like a douche, so I'm doing it here. 3rd grade, select. We played a team with "Elite" in their name of questionably large proportion (supposedly all held back...which is ridiculous at this age) in a tournament.

They press everyone and win every game 29-2. 30-4....stuff like that. They won the game right before ours 60-1. My kid was one of the two guards who broke the press so much they had to back off. They looked like 5 year vets doing it. We were tied at halftime. They made every midranger they took in the second half and it got away from us in the last 10 minutes but he ended up with 13 points out of our 25, with three 3s (10 foot goals and everything). He's projected to be 6'4". If my vicarious NBA dreams come true, I'm going to be more insufferable than Tee Morant.

It’s a shame the kid’s grandparents don’t like him.

Dumbass.

I have been playing basketball since I was 6-years-old. I also played baseball, golf, football, ran a lot, did all sorts of things. Over the years I've had various injuries. Bit on a pump fake and broke a rib playing basketball, broke a finger playing football, elbow injury from golf etc.

If you add up all of my injuries in the last 30+ years playing a whole bunch of sports, I have not been injured as much as Anthony Davis in the last 9 months.

When it comes to scoring, Durant is the easiest money I have ever seen in the NBA. It is actually quite rare to see Durant make what looks like a very difficult shot. (Compare that to someone like Curry, who seems to make nearly impossible shots all the time.) Durant's great gift is it is virtually impossible to force him into a tough shot. You can't bother him up top because of his length, and you can't bother him down low because his handle is incredibly tight. The best you can do is get into his body and make him shoot over you, which isn't especially effective because of how good a shooter he is.

Anthony Davis should be renamed from Street Clothes to Hospital Gown.

As a Lakers fan, I was never a fan of Doncic. Now that he's a Laker, I hesitantly root for him. But I'm stuck on something that perhaps some of the knowledgeable NBA fans in here can help me with.

I don't think Doncic's style of play can ever win an NBA championship. I'm just not a fan of the pound, pound, take a contested shot or pass the ball w/ 4 seconds left on the clock, or jack up an early clock logo 3 style of play.

The obvious problem for me, and it's something that's apparently not obvious to others, is the problems that arise from building around this kind of superstar.

1) Just not enough ball movement and touches for other teammates to motivate them to play w/ energy.

2) Way too many bad shots taken that lead to long rebounds and fast breaks w/ one of those guards being fairly lazy getting back (ie, Doncic).

There are other flaws in his game, and lots of positives as well of course. He can be a great passer, IF he looks to pass. He's also a really good rebounder.

Now, you can surround him with high quality 3 and D guys, and of course, you may have a shot, but that's unlikely to happen w/ today's CBA. That's why the archetype of the superstar you build around is really critical to NBA team success.

It's not even enjoyable to watch imho honestly. I enjoy watching SMART ball movement, and lots of off ball action and screens. You need the correct amount of ball movement... too much ends w/ too many TO's, not enough, you end up w/ poor looks, and an unmotivated team.

I could point to the last 2 Lakers games as two contrasting games, where Doncic passed a lot, and looked for Ayton early in the Hawks game, and vs the Hornets where Doncic didn't look to pass as much, and looked for his shot early and often.

And the outcome was predictable. Just look at Ayton's stat line as one example in those 2 games.
