They are just replacing them with electronic deposits. You will have an account balance at a cage at the property - where you just go up - give them your ID - and they will keep your money on a computer file. Would be a major mess if the system got hacked - but that's what they are doing - it's called front money. I wouldn't keep more than 10-30k on it depending on the stake

Just ask for a check at the main cage and mobile deposit.

One huge difference is the actual funds you leave go into the casino general ledger. Should the casino go bk you will be just another unsecured creditor. Under mgm this risk is likely low but it is a risk

Hey everyone. I see the 5k cap 5card runs some on the weekends. My question is for any of you that play the higher stakes 5c games. Any chance they run higher or more frequently if someone starts games or is it like parx where you’re pretty much never getting a bigger game other than once per week?

Thanks

I'm not worried about that - but those data leaks, and security hacks are a much bigger risk. Plus if someone just punches in the wrong number - i'm sure they give you a ticket to confirm - but still kinda sucks. I liked the boxes better, but I assume they are doing it for more transparency so people can't hide money.

I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving more than 15k with the casino under this system but I have not used it yet, but it just seems shady to me.

These games are semi-private. You need to figure out who is organizing it to reliably get a seat and figure out when they're having a game.

It's a shitty system. I don't even bother going to MGM because of it.

Shooting in the food court - one killed one wounded.
It looks like it's targeted. But still - be careful out there

Yes as our options to be careful keep running out. There is absolutely no reason I should even have to be on that floor. I assume they will respond by closing the entrance by the elevators and route all traffic past the food court.

What most poker players always wanted was a slip of paper saying how much money they have sitting in the casino for their wife to find! Hopefully it can get a W2 form together for us too.

Front money issue - So I was slowly emptying my box and depositing some of the money into front money, at around $3,000 at a time.

I finally fully empty my box, and put in another $3000, and had around 12k in the front money with the last deposit I put in on Friday Jan 9.

I come up Sunday to play - and tried to withdrawal $3000 to play. They said I had a lock on my account because I didn't fill out the proper paper work. I get the paper work, and it was the same paper work I already filled out. The employee looked confused so they called a female supervisor and I asked her what the heck happened to the paperwork I already filled out?

The paper work I filled out last month to open the front money had my social security number, my address - and they asked for my license which they photo copied. I was able to than deposit the money into the front money account.

Now when I want to withdrawal - they said the paper work had never been filled out. I told the supervisor - how do I know that person who originally took it just didn't steal my paperwork to open up loans in my name? The supervisor said there are so many cameras in here that it could never happen. I said if that's the case - why can't you find the paper work I already filled out? How could it be possible I was able to open this account in the first place (and deposit 3-4 separate times) if I never filled out the proper paperwork? She shrugged and said ether fill it out again or close the account. Than she rudely walked away. I ended up closing the whole account which at least they let me get my money out.

Horrible customer service. I wasn't even being rude, I was just baffled at how they could lose important documents like this.

So a pretty major boondoggle by MGM. Maybe I should also call life lock now just in case LOL!

Really really annoying they discontinued the boxes. I was using that box for 5 years with no issues, and now the first month this front money was implanted - this happens. For all I know [worst case] the employee that originally took my documents just stole them and will use them later to open up a line of credit in my name. [Best case] The fact they were misplaced or (lost) is not very inspiring.

Is the 10-25 uncapped no limit game public? How often does it run? Mostly regs playing in it?

Issue was fixed - I talked to another manager and they made it right. Second lady was much more pleasant and appoligized for the screw up.

If anyone has a problem in the cage, id recommend speaking to Karen, she usually works late nights and ive had nothing but great experiences

For anyone using Front money - IT takes forever to get your money or cash in. It took me 20+ minutes just to cash out $2050 to front money.

Needs a major fix. This is unacceptable imo. I am gonna try not to use it very often. Very annoying.

Withdrawal is also a pain. The cashiers don't know how to do it, and the supervisors aren't quick at doing it ether.

Be careful out there boys, mgmnh is backrooming and slapping the shyt out of APs. Of course it hurts my bottom line else where because mgm is such predatory, feckless losers but only play slots/tables with your card, get the names of any staff that starts to talk to you out of the blue, be loud, and go limp Eugene Debs style if they try to take you anywhere. Obviously, us larger guys have less to worry about but if security is bigger than you, they will take advantage, as sauce1234 always says protect your neck. If you aren’t just a poker player probably don’t use the player bank either imo.

Are you claiming that MGM is physically beating up card counters?

I wouldnt pay him much mind. Sure to respond with an obtuse block of text.

Multicarders.

Gotta give the fans what they want! You don’t need to worry about this, since you are still figuring out how to get a gold card but some of us with 3 digit hourly win rates will use player cards in multiple peoples names to scoop up big offers, there has been a crackdown on this recently and casinos are taking drastic actions. At the same time, there are syndicates that cut deals with casino hosts that cover this up for a cut. This was a scandal at MDlive last year and has news articles about it. If you ever go on the slot floor there’s a short Latino man with a big potbelly, wearing a shirt that doesn’t fit him and he’s always camping some big slot play. He runs a slot syndicate and cuts deals with hosts under the table to multicard slots without repercussions. It’s kind of like what you try to do with poker promos but actually successful for a decent wage.

I assume the boxes were pointless and a huge waste of resources/effort for MGM and their cage staff. The majority of the room plays 1/3, 2/5 and 2/2 plo. None of these players have any need for a box and the casino has no interest in catering to them.

Multicarders.

You're really annoyed at them cracking down on people committing fraud?

Would love to see some evidence of them beating people up and risking their multiple billion dollar gaming license. Can you share?

The valuable patrons are the ones who dont have enough money to need a box is a PIPING HOT take.

How often is the 5/5 5 card games with a straddle running at this venue?

Do they run as a private games 5/5 games and other times nonprivate?

Is it safer to walk around the area at all this past couple of years? I had an air bb about a mile away but didn't feel comfortable walking to the venue.

I only go 1-2x a week and usually at the weekend but there is typically a 5-5 1-2 5 card game running whenever I am there. Last night it was 1 table and a very long list.

There is also a 10-10 5 card that runs at least every Friday night (and have seen it at other times), again only 1 table, much less of a list.

Re the area, can't really comment as I live in Alexandria just over the bridge so drive the 10m. Lets be fair though almost every regional casino is in a ropey area so wouldn't walk with thousands in cash anyway.

Oxon Hill is only 6% white, which I think perhaps make it not “feel safe”. Im not accusing anyone of racism, but of course heavy minority areas tend to have high poverty rates (and thus high crime) in America so Oxon Hill could give off the appearance of being unsafe simply by demographic. However Oxon Hill is a working class black area with a relatively low poverty rate. Statistically it basically has an average national crime rate, which is high for this area but not overall.

I personally dont think MGM does a very good job securing their facility to keep crime much lower on and near property, so i would expect a higher chance of being victimized by crime on or near the property than, for example, a casino on the Vegas Strip despite Vegas having one of the highest crime rates in america and being considerably less safe of a city overall.

Although I dont think Oxon Hill is especially “unsafe”, fairfax county and alexandria city VA are among the richest and safest areas in america, so renting a car and staying across the water would still be a considerable upgrade in safety over Oxon Hill, and I personally dont feel as safe on property in the garage as I do walking around in my local neighborhood in Virginia.

I was actually curious about walking from MGM national harbor to surrounding areas.

From what the uber driver's told me if I made wrong turn I could end up in some of the toughest areas in the country.

I'm sure if you drive to a rich neighborhood you'll be fine.
