you're missing the big picture

at some point we need to put some adults in the room and say "hey maybe we should flex our party muscles and not allow a senile man or a crazy one who threatens our allies to be president"

For better or probably worse, this just isn't the way party politics work. There is no secret group of shot callers in each party who decides who the nominee will be. The most powerful person in the political party is the person in the White House, which makes things very difficult when that same person wants to run for reelection, is being told by certain people around him that he should run for reelection, but in fact is too old and diminished to run for reelection.

I wish the world worked differently. I truly do. But I don't see any evidence that it does. That's why I put so much of the blame on Biden and the people in his immediate circle who should have put their own self interest to the side.

biden commanded the room and was sharp as a tack and if you think otherwise the Disinformation Governance Board under DHS will have you arrested.

It's actually working in the dem's favor. I am a staunch no vote for either party's candidate, my views being mainly far left of current Dem platforms. Figured Trump gets in, is a bozo and maybe the Dems can pander to people that sat it out next time around. Like how bad can Trump be? Holy ****ing ****, pretty bad I guess. To the point

If Trump is the worst POTUS since the invention of the hub cap, why wouldn't you vote for Schumer?

I'd love to hear the point by point breakdown of how the Dems are evil in relative comparison to what is actively happening right now

I think you guys like to make sweeping comments that sound pretty good to your biases but fall apart the instant you think about it for literally a millisecond

Why are we comparing? I don't think anyone said more evil than...

Well, I was trying to be generous.

More false equivalency bullshit to try to make yourself feel better about your piss-poor judgment.

Only 1 party is responsible for giving us Trump, and that is the GOP. As such, they are worse than the Dems, regardless of what lies you tell yourself.

TheEnd.

For better or worse, Kamala ended up as the 2024 nominee soley because of Biden. By the time Biden stepped down, the Democrats had no practical alternative other than to hope for the best with Kamala.

In my opinion, there was plenty of time for an open convention. In the not too distant past, it was common for the presumptive nominee to not name his running mate until the convention started. And sometimes there would be debates on the floor about the nominee. In 1968, Governor George Romney challenged Spiro Agnew to be Nixon's VP, and he got a number of votes from the delegates. Not sure why the Dems couldn't do something similar with their Presidential nominee.

Memory Lane Time: The 1968 Republican Convention was the first time I watched a convention on tee-vee. I remember watching the VP vote (Agnew vs. Romney) with my great-great Aunt Esh.

It's a day ending in Y so of course we have to endure df conservatives misusing "DEI hire."

Fair enough.

That said, Harris being nominated as VP was explicitly a DEI hire in the sense that Biden said up front in 2020 that he wanted a POC running mate.

Clarence Thomas was obviously a DEI hire long before the term existed.

by campfirewest m

To be fair, do DEI hires have any good use?

Optics.

by Dunyain m

Well, in the NBA and NFL there is strong evidence hiring the occasional white American is good for marketability.

Jerry Quarry and Gerry Cooney help to keep white people interested in boxing in the 1970's and early 1980's. (Not as much as the Rocky movies did, though.)

1 party gave a candidate that more Americans voted for than the candidate the other party gave.

Fin.

I'm guessing the DEI chickenhead is more successful in every measurable way than probably any random 3 people on this forum combined

Maybe up that to 4-5 if we only include people who have actively called her names on this forum

The jealous misogyny never fails to impress

To be fair, do Trump loving nazis like yourself have any good use?

I guess we could force you to lick public toilets clean.

Says the guy who argues Russia invading Ukraine and waging a 3 year war of destruction (mostly of their own nation) was the correct choice.

I mean, Zelensky literally said he wanted Ukraine to be the Israel of Eastern Europe.

by housenuts m

biden commanded the room and was sharp as a tack and if you think otherwise the Disinformation Governance Board under DHS will have you arrested.

Let's not forget that the same folks who claimed that Biden was "as sharp as a tack" were the same folks who later proclaimed that "Harris ran a flawless campaign."

They have a mandate because people keep voting for them. That's democracy.

Not our fault that your heart belongs to Hitler, Putin and Trump.

The inability for right wingers to read charts is astounding

Hell yeah brothers

1/3 of US Presidents have invoked the Insurrection Act. Seems not too rare.
