Neil Young has been in a bad mood since the sixties and I vibe with that.

In 4th place scoring 6 points:

This is an artist I’m unfamiliar with, save for a huge song of theirs I didn’t know was theirs until it came up on YouTube. I like this song better than that song. It’s exactly the sound of something I would’ve listened to on repeat in high school. Now I have to check out their other stuff.

Nada Surf - Blonde On Blonde

***PODIUM ALERT***

In 3rd place scoring 8 points:

This song kept creeping up in the rankings each time I relistened. This is fantastic stuff, and I’m embarrassed I basically know nothing about this artist. I’ll need to remedy that. One thing that was unmistakable for me was their influence on Steve Perry. Steve’s an elite vocalist, and I’ll never be able to listen to him again without knowing that he’s basically doing a [redacted] impersonation.

Literal physical chills listening to the into of this Sam Cooke

In 2nd place scoring 10 points:

This is what made me think of the category. It’s only 2nd because what got first is quite possibly what I would’ve submitted if this were someone else’s Walrus. I still remember the first time I ever heard this, and I had to search high and low to find out what it was. It’s not flashy, quite minimalistic, but incredibly beautiful. It also takes a ton of control to play something like this well.

Oh hey, someone submitted what I probably would’ve submitted for this final category.

And someone else submitted what made me think up the category.

And someone submitted the correct answer.

What da heck

In 1st place scoring 12 points:

This has been my favorite piece of music since high school. In college, I transcribed it for vibraphone so I could play it at a recital. As a grown up, I am sort of okay on piano and I practiced this for hours every day a few years back just so I could say I had played it through. I’ve lost it now, but this makes me want to start practicing again.

Claude Debussy - La Fille Aux Cheveux De Lin

Literally what’s been on my piano since before I posted the categories.

(And yes, that’s Gymnopedie No. 1 on top)

amps obsession with going through the garbage of other posters for decades is finally paying dividends

I’m not sure who won overall, but it’s either amp or eb. I’ll do some tallying in a bit.

amps obsession with going through the garbage of other posters for decades is finally paying dividends

It's been my favorite song since I was like twelve.

If you've never seen One Night in Miami, you definitely should. The premise sounds ridiculous, but it's one of the best movies of the decade imo.

It's possibly #1 all time for the movie that most exceeded my expectations going into it.

FINAL SCORES

I’m pretty sure this is right. Congrats to eb for never scoring worse than 4th and to amp for crushing despite one 8th place finish. DZ gets third off of two podiums and two anti-podiums. Thanks to everyone for playing!

In 5th place scoring 5 points:I know little of this artist and what I did know was a song I hate. Thankfully that’s not what we have here. I definitely don’t hate this, but I also don’t love it as much as the entrant. The person who submitted this song loves it so much that they submitted it four times this Walrus. Because live versions often have a different vibe, I checked ou

Which line?

I’ve been to Hollywood
I’ve been to Redwood

I understand the significance, it just hits my earballs wrong and annoys me. Feels lazy compared to the rest of the song.

Does he mean the tree?

Thanks for the game. Congrats to the winners.

I'll take not being in the nodium as a success.
