2025 NFL Season Thread: Can Uncle Rico save the Broncos or will they be Nixed?
Greetings friends.
Those of you who know me know me as a Niners fan full of fantastical levels of vitriol and rage. I hav
lol
Genius move by the Seahawks to create a fake injury to make an excuse when Darnold inevitably turns into a pumpkin tomorrow.
no idea who to take for DraftKings King of Endzone promo, $3M bonus bets is the pool. was thinking chalk-ish JSN but now Darnold is hurt.. meh
I'd go with a KR, Ray Davis (BUF). Lutz only 24% touchbacks, 46 O/U, Payton likes FGs, and Davis also gets some RB snaps. Plus I doubt many entrants will pick him.
ETA: Davis has already returned a kickoff for TD this season against HOU. Maybe not as much off-the-radar as I thought, 6 TDs out of 2,076 total returns is 1 in 346. Multiply that by 4 and Davis has about a 1 in 86 chance of getting a TD return. And it should be the longest.
kick returns are covered under special teams and defense for a team, not by individual players
Ok. Since we're on a Josh Allen binge, he had a 52 yard TD run in last year' playoffs. So maybe he will repeat.
I took an alternative play.
If Darnold is ruled out and they play Lock, how many pts on the spread is that?
SEA -6 instead of 7.5?
-3.5
I doubt it would be higher than 3. Lock's career record is 10-18, with 34/28 TD/INT ratio. No Willis or Huntley obviously, more like a cheap version of Jimmy G.
Bigger impact would be O/U, which might go down to as low as 38.
Watch in-game odds as Darnold starting does not mean he is close to 100%.
broncos +7.5 parlayed with SF +15 for -182 odds is today's play
Maybe Barry Bonds, though Josh isnβt a cancer.
Mickelson, aside from the six majors. Jawsh would definitely take $2B to go to LIVFL.
Josh & Lamar doing Mailkrantz & Chuckstern off-Broadway this summer.
LOL @ grok
grok prolly would have done better with Favre's dick pic.
Below is a photo of Parcells SB XXI (Jan 1987)

Below is a photo of Madden SB XI (Jan 1977)

So Madden is maybe 5-7 years older, and Parcells a year or 2 younger.
I'm going with 1983-84.
Where was the photo taken?
-both wearing heavy coats, so cool temperature (45-50?);
-cables on ground looks like a TV event location;
-tape on ground looks like a location for TV personalities to stand for cameras;
-guy in background wearing what might be a Giants staff hat, but hard to tell;
-Madden became CBS announcer in 1979, and joined Summerall as lead duo in 1981;
-Giants made playoffs in 1984-85 seasons, and won SB in 1986 season.
Playoff games shown on CBS with their lead announcing crew for those years:
a) Giants @ 49ers, 12/29/1984. Temp 43;
b) Giants @ Bears, 1/5/1986. Temp 18;
c) Redskins @ Giants, 1/11/1987. Temp 39.
Based on appearance, what they are wearing, temperature, and the cables, I'll go with Candlestick Park, a few days before 1984 playoff game.*
* - normally, teams will not make trip to visitor location until a a day or two prior to game. But Giants' game prior to 49ers playoff game that year was @ Los Angeles. So it seems likely Parcells had the team stay on west coast, and travel to San Fran the week of the game and save 2 days travel.
More info courtesy of Google AI:
Prior to their 1984 playoff game against the 49ers, the New York Giants traveled to Fresno, California, where they stayed at the Piccadilly Inn-University and practiced at a field next to Fresno State University's Bulldog Stadium, which had spongy, grass-light conditions similar to Candlestick Park, the site of the actual game.
According to which way the wind is blowing this morning, Kevin Stefanski is rumored to be the Falcons front runnner,
And Jeff Hafley (Packers DC) is the front runner in Miami.
Grok is horrible
I was testing it for some sportsbetting work and it gave the kind of answers you'd expect from a dumb bot, at least chatgpt's interpretation of a question is much closer to humans
My heart wants Xerxes to the Raiders cuz I just think the ceiling is so massive despite the obvious problems that exist and I want him to succeed more than any coach or coordinator who worked for the niners
Logically, the spots that make the most sense and would be a fantastic fit (also operating on the assumption he takes Kubiak with him as OC) would be Atlanta or baltimore
If either of them land him they’re getting a real one who is a massive upgrade over what they had
If he comes back to SF as DC for 1 more year, all the better
i was going to ask about the white on the back ground relating to candlestick (although i've sat through giants july extra inning night games that felt like that) but you beat me to it
I always hated going to candlestick
So so so much
