I often ask people to show statistics of their claims. Crickets
So when people come in with opinions backed by nothing and call them fact and I ask them to provide reasoning for why they hold an opinion that they think is fact and they can't I just hand wave them as ******ed and move on with my life because that is the base line level of informed for the average political commentor

Yes, it is true that sometimes stats can be misleading if they leave out relevant information. In this case your proposed causal explanation makes Trump’s immigration policy look horrible. It’s also just speculation unless you have some evidence. Trump certainly isn’t saying that’s what is going on here.

Well yeah, I was admittedly being cheeky. I would love for him to prove that Biden's immigration policy wasn't "open door", that the Lozens of the world are completely wrong, that the current administration pathologically lied, that moving's base framework for why ICE is necessary is wrong, and that people like me who argued these exact points for a year or so were exactly right.

I actually didn't articulate it well I was on your side on this topic for data you posted. I was discussing a graph that was fact and trying to consider context in it (an upswing in deportations in 2020 would mean their would naturally be less violent criminals in the database to go after once trump took office so he overcorrected going after non violent to apease his base . Its kind of a mute point tho because round em all up

I’m not sure exactly what the argument is, but I haven’t deleted any posts. I did temp someone a day ago for something directed toward another poster, not you, but that’s not to say I didn’t miss other posts of the same nature.

They can't make you move your car to a secondary inspection area. You can ask if you're being detained and if they say no then you ask if you're free to go, if they say no then you're detained and they have to tow your car out of the way, which they won't do because it would hold up the line.

If there were a test to see if someone is a cultural fit for the USA before they immigrate here, it should be this question. Thinking it's ok for the police to ID you for no good reason and that you should cooperate to make their jobs easier or something is the most (what should be anyway) unAmerican thinking possible.

I thought the context of the question was when a citizen was out in public, not in their home.
If the police asked to search my room (I never have my own apartment or house) without giving a good reason I might think twice about allowing them to do so.
Just apply the logic of why you don't want a stranger (regardless if he's an agent of the government) rooting around your private stuff in your room to your car and your person.
That's not even bringing in the fact that there have been cops, like that guy recently in Florida, who have planted drugs on drivers just for shits and giggs.

wtf is this you told me they were being deported. Being held for 30 hours for spitting on an officer is a pretty good deal. Also we have to take her word that it was over 24 hours which was the only violation. A somolian from Minnesota certainly would not have any incentive to be against ice totally reliable source them somilians from Minnesota.
