Not paying gambling debts shame on this loser Hawkins. How can he sleep at night knowing he is being a dirtball? He must be another narcissist. So many evil people in the poker world and some of you get butthurt when I say gamblers are scum.

Saw him in Biloxi. Walks around like he is the shit with his big oversized headphones on shaking to the music. Such a tool!

As of today, according to Hendon, he has won $6, 751, 682. The number is impressive, but he has nothing to show for it but a lot of debt and a horrible reputation in the poker world.

There’s no way to know for sure how much Maurice has profited but we can make some educated guesses. If his ROI is 30%, he’s profited ~$2MM. After taxes that’s ~$1.4MM. He’s been doing this forever so that’s less than $100K/year before substantial travel expenses. If any of his backers saw any money at all the number is even lower.

$6.7KM looks like an impressive number on Hendon but an assistant manager at Target brings home more annually than Maurice once you factor in buy-ins, taxes, and travel expenses.

My experience playing with Maurice is that he has very good intuition and hand reading skills but it’s impossible to make a living playing small/medium buy-in tournaments (unless you’re a scumbag free-rolling by stealing buy-ins from backers).

Pretty sure I heard there was confusion over what was and wasn't included with the backing arrangement when they were arbitrating his staking deal with that lady (can't recall her name atm) and he essentially was able to use the stake money for all the other expenses as well and she just washed her hands of the cost to continue fighting him and he got away with it.

Plus, if you get a judgment against him, he doesn't seem to fully or quickly pay it out, and it's likely difficult to collect.

So he gets to jet around playing games, winning rings and not punching a clock and just scum off people non-stop.

Sooner or later he will cross someone who uses lets say less than legal tactics to retrieve what's owed or is he that good at bumhunting he has taken it into staking too.

I doubt you can find 3 people at his level who got physically assaulted for debts in the poker community in the last 25 years

Things aren't how they were in the 90s

We got lucky that he got hit at all. Look at guys like Russ Hamilton or Howard Lederer and Chris Ferguson. Made off with MILLIONS from the poker community and will still show up and play events and I haven't heard of anything bad happening to them.

The revenge fantasy is a popular one, but 99.9% of the time it's just that, a fantasy.

Agree with both but it's nice to have a dream.😀.

Somewhat related:

Stephen Chidwick did an AMA recently. He has around $75 million in earnings on HendonMob. One redditor asked how much he has profited from that $75million in earnings. He answered (respect to him) around $5-10 million.

You can imagine, as we all are, how Maurice is doing with his earnings.

Did he say he's not sure and that's the the range or the just the range he wanted to give?

"I don’t have exact numbers from the earlier part of my career but somewhere in the 5-10m range"

That's a hell of a spread.

It would’ve be nice to have found Russ & his wife in the basement after not answering the phone for a week, next to a pair of pliers & a blowtorch, half-eaten by the dog, and all the carpet & wall paneling in the house torn up, but yeah lolscorseseaments.

That said, I’m sure there were a few six figure actual hardnoses that got quietly paid back with alacrity & apology by Chris & Howie. Russ must not have took too much from anyone who mattered.

LMAO that he doesn’t have the exact numbers right now on his phone.

Trying the Ballmer “I lose $30M all the time on investments I don’t even know I made” bit.

The news is certainly interesting, but I didn't expect so many comments, lol.

2500 posts and you don't understand why he would give a vague as possible answer?

I am fairly sure that if Maurice is not paying his backers then it is highly likely he isn't paying the full amount he owes to the IRS either.

Chidwick offering a wide ranging estimate seemed fine to me. I'm pretty sure you don't have on your phone the exact number you've earned at work over the past 15 years.

As for Hawkins, with the public reputation he's worked so hard to make for himself, I'd expect it's a lot harder to find backers than it used to be.

I think Chidwick was making a sly myob joke by giving such a wide range. Obviously I don’t have my number because i’m a clock punching shnook and I don’t need to know it and it’s all done automatically on paychecks & w2’s.

Chidwick is a longtime international superstar OCD poker player who has detailed records of every cash game & tournament he’s ever played plus related expenses. He may not have the exact number at his fingertips (though it wouldn’t surprise me if he does) but I bet he knows it within 5% OTTOHH and could generate the exact number in five minutes. He doesn’t strike you as an Accountant type?

I found the theory espoused above that Hawkins real backer is some hardhead he’d never dream of ripping off, and the public Card Player reading ones are just his own side hustle—likely all dried up now, quite believable.
