In the current news climate we see that some figures and events tend to dominate the front-pages heavily. Still, there a
Giving gatekeepers the power to adjudicate who is a “real” woman and reducing women athlete’s bodily autonomy to essentially having to prove they have a vagina does not protect women, it endangers them.
A trans ban does not give women power; it gives power to men over them to check their sex organs. Your version of fairness is myopic and small and focuses on a few individuals over the tens of millions of girls who will now be subject to these checks. It takes control away from women in an industry where sexual abuse is already prevalent. It is dangerous.
If you want to hate trans people, go right ahead. But don’t take it out on women athletes or attempt to disguise it as genuine concern for women as a whole, and definitely not as an issue of fairness. That’s bullshit.
I question how anyone can imagine that women now having to go through the process of proving they are βrealβ women to play sports in any way benefits women as a class. Or does it actually do the exact opposite.

This is the total BS the left spouts. No one is making women drop their shorts to prove they are women. The reality is it is fairly easy to distinguish a man competing against women . Yes there are the very rare instances were a birth certificate must be produced and occur at International competitions .
Tell me how many Trans men are competing at the highest levels in men's sports?

i think you're conflating issues, there's obviously no simple solution and i am not the one who is here to provide an answer - but such things are commonly done in international competitions and and for some time now - dating back the 60st
in most cases the solution is as simple as providing a birth certificate, something often required anyway for all sports for both genders to verify age and if that is challenged or unclear they do genetic testing - again, no more invasive from testing for steroids which is also commonly done
so i think you're imagining a handmaids tale type of enforcement whereas it is typically done in one fell swoop along with verifying age - which oddly doesn't elicit a panic scare ie "they want to cut us open and count the rings"
yes it's not ideal, it also sucks for the trans people as well, those two boxers at the olympics were just two women trying to live their best lives, they were raised as women, they weren't trying to "be sneaky for an unfair advantage" etc etc but at the same time, it was also deeply unfair the biological women they steamrolled on their way to claiming gold
Do your buddies host popular video podcasts regularly engaging in Jewish conspiracy theories and Holocaust denial. And regularly give Sig Heils while doing so? If they did, would you still think it was just for the lols, or would you think there was perhaps a more pernicious motive?Actually pernicious might not even be the right word. As I said, performative antisemitism is b
yeah obviously that would change the tempo - which harks back to that i didn't know/recognize the other folks, and the only one named in followup discussion was tate by you, it was a vague group hanging out with tate as far i knew it and he is mostly just a scammer talking about "be a man and make that woman make you a sandwich" not really one who's platform was nazism even though i genuinely think he's a disgusting individual
but this also calls up something i thought about a little bit last night - with all of the people here in the chat seemingly knowing every little detail about these guys and being able to easily recognize them all in video - just how much of their actual audience are true believers vs ragebaiting leftists? kind of shocked just how many of you were so intimately familiar with a group of guys who you'll never casually run into - none of these guys are platformed, they all solely exist on the fringe - you are not going to casually come across their thoughts or faces on television, radio, print, nor even mainstream internet like youtube - you'll have to seek them out on the platforms that exist solely for people who are banned on all the other ones
how do you guys have the time and bandwidth for that
but genuinely, how much of their audience and thus income and political empowerment comes from people watching just to rage?

Obviously I don't (nor should I) have any say in the matter, but if the testing keeps even one woman from being killed in the boxing ring the testing is at least arguably worth it.
full disclosure: I used to be a big boxing fan, but I now think boxing is dehumanizing regardless of the gender of the participants.

I would guess relatively little. To my knowledge, I have never put a dollar in the pocket of any of these people. I've never tuned into their channels. I've never followed any of them on social media. I know about them because they have large followings, which results in them being covered by the media. And certain of them (e.g., Fuentes) have done interviews with media figures with enormous followings. I didn't watch watch Tucker's interview of Fuentes, but I was aware of the debate around whether he should have given Fuentes a platform because I follow the news.
I never watched Alex Jones either, but I was aware that Trump went on his show in 2016 to pander to Jones's idiot fanbase because Trump's decision to go on the show was widely reported on in the media.
That is such a dishonest tweet. Voters overwhelmingly said their number issue in 2024 was the economy/inflation. It is valid to say that Trump has disappointed voters on the economy since being back in office, but it is completely dishonest to say that trans people in sports was any kind of election changing issue.
The single most effective piece of campaigning the current administration did was run "Shes for they/them, hes for you" adds during NFL games
imagine campaigning effectively
Imagine crying about athletes taking a knee, trans people, DEI, immigrants eating dogs, and every other ****ing thing under the sun.

Oh, word. Sounds like this whole trans panic was just a waste of everyone's time then.
If all I have to do to effectively campaign to Republicans is point at black people and make monkey sounds then the competition is slanted
It's not quite that simple, but close.
Having said that, there are many more registered Democrats than Republicans. The Dems should win virtually every time just by matching the GOP turnout rate.
There are plenty of 2p2ers who, while acknowledging the shortcomings of Harris as a candidate, were certain with zero doubt that she was the better choice than Trump
That the choice was so obvious to me that anyone who couldn't see how obvious it was might have severe mental deficiencies is a whole different subject matter
off the top of my head i think freak daddy and bryce both feel that way - i know there are others
search is tough because people are usually responding with generalities - ie discussion is already on kamala so someone writing "she's a great candidate" and not "kamala is a great candidate"
bryce is def confirmed though

there was a bunch praising her as a vp pick as well - but that's a horse of a different color so not including

Thanks at least in part to my blindly trusting the Medical_Industrial Complex 30 years ago, I openly acknowedge falling in that camp.

Seems like a perfectly reasonable and levelheaded opinion to hold
This relentless framing of Kamala Harris as a disaster that was avoided is unimaginable levels of cope
We are currently living in an unmitigated disaster
