I’m very curious about the 100 hours of women sports thing tbh.
Is that 50 basketball games? 50 soccer gamers? 50 volleyball games or hockey? 60+ tennis matches? Even a mix of multiples still roughly works out to about 50 games of whatever using the standard 2 hour broadcast model.
Where are all of these being viewed exactly?
amazing the level of nitpickery you have with me saying people here argued kamala was a good candidate and then you feel perfectly fine posting this utter hallucination of yours
the distortion field you have been running these past few years is truly top of the line
Except coordi is literally just lying at this point by claiming we all despise women's sports.

Doesn't rick rely on sports betting for a lot of his income? I imagine that a good chunk of that 100 hours is watching games for that reason.
Wake up to 100+ posts of women sports debate.
The more things change...
Roughly 1 in 4 women in the US will experience domestic violence in their lifetime.
You will never ever convince me that concern for womenβs safety is why so many men have taken up this cause. Itβs a bald-faced lie and you are a liar.
I have no idea why you think I would be against men beating up women in sports and then be ok with it as long as they do it at home.
That is completely ****ing insane.
Had I said I do not care about professional men's sports, but I do care about amateur men's sports, would I also be a fan of transphobia?
like i said, and so it begins and you begin to experience the extremities of the posters here to find false enemies everywhere
Right. Even if I intellectually assent to certain restrictions on trans women participation in sports, itβs hard for me to imagine arguing about it with any kind of passion in this political environment, on either side of the debate. And as trite as it sounds, I agree with crossnerd that people actually donβt give a crap about this issue and this is the only context where a lot of people pretend to care about womenβs rights.

yes, and that 100 hours is incredibly conservative, if we're including time i have it on in the background while working on my models then it rockets way up
i'm far more inclined to watch something if i have a large position on it but wouldn't be watching it if i wouldn't have enjoyed watching it otherwise - i'm not smart enough to gain any insights off watching stuff
i prefer women's tennis massively over the mens because it's more of a back and forth game
women's world cup is great
women's olympic soccer > men's olympic soccer (but largely due to roster restrictions for the men imposed by fifa out of fear of creating a rival to the world cup)
i won't watch women's professional soccer because the player pool is far too diluted and it shows majorly
women's gymnastics and figure skating >>>> men's who i don't even watch
beach volleyball is one of my favorite summer olympic sports to watch
wnba is good but i'd much rather watch wncaab - my dad will watch pretty much every uconn women's game he can (and he's been doing that for as long as i can remember - he watches them more than he watches the celtics) - i probably contribute more to the wnba thread here than i do the nba thread
i watch olympic women's hockey but like with soccer won't watch professional hockey because once you dilute the talent pool it can get pretty sloppy
as for professional hockey and soccer - i used to have those same feelings i have for those as i did for the wnba - but women's basketball has come a huge way in the past few years and it genuinely plays very similarly to how the men play now
it was very difficult to watch college basketball or even the wnba 10 years ago because the product was so clearly several tiers below but that's no longer the case, it's more like tennis where you can just appreciate it and enjoy the subtle differences
golf is probably where you'll finally get some women breaking through - a few women have already played a pga event a few years back and did respectably
lexi thompson was last to do it in 2023, it was an event specifically chosen because the course layout wouldn't be as punishing for someone who couldn't hit as long - we'll probably see more of that going forward as women continue to bridge the gap
the cut was -2 for that event, she missed it by finishing even after 2 rounds - but that put her in the same group as a bunch of pga regulars - showing she wasn't out of her depth (worst finished was +14 and she finished tied for 85th out of 132 starting golfers)
also been watching more women's college volleyball lately because my partner played in college and enjoys it but the cmos aren't very good so it's hard to find games that are broadcast
In order to enjoy sports at all, I have to spend an ungodly amount of time watching it and following all the teams. Itβs one of the biggest time sinks when I was playing fantasy football even extremely casually, let alone when I wanted to follow basketball which has 82 games in the regular season.
I wish I could be a casual fan but I just feel bored not knowing all the storylines, but knowing all the storylines is a corporate psyop that should be resisted as much as humanly possible.

I really wish the country would boycott paying for live sports. The ticket prices are outrageous. LA football is $100 just for parking. gtfo

Ok, I believe you.
So out of those 100+ hours, how many hours involved any trans women athletes competing?

I know this question isn't for me, but I'm not sure how anyone could know the answer to that question just by watching the games. Do trans athletes have a 'T' painted on their forehead or something?

If transgender athletes were routinely making a mockery of their competition in women's sports, I'm pretty sure you would know about it.
For competive reasons, I'm fine with some restrictions at very high levels of women's athletics. To take an extreme example, if Victor Wembanyama came out as transgender, I don't think it would make sense for him to play in the WNBA. He would break the league, even if he took hormones for X number of years, because he went through puberty as male and hormones after the fact aren't going to shrink his 7'5 frame.
But getting all worked up because of the possibility of edge cases is pure idiocy. Transgender people are a very small percentage of the population. No one is going to pretend to be transgender in order to dominate women's sports at any level. Transgender people in sports is perhaps the purest example we have of the right wing successfully spinning people up over a non-existent threat to society. I see the case for common sense rules at the highest levels, but otherwise just leave people the **** alone and let them live their lives.

Why is ok for unfairness to exist if it only affects a few?
I would definitely say Olympics are an event where I find myself watching the women at least as much as the men. Interesting note that they changed the center of gravity on the javelin so it wouldn't go as far for safety reasons.
So people are saying they enjoy watching women's sports when its the olympics, sometimes as much or more than men, but can't fathom that womens sports, given an even playing field with mens, might be at least somewhat close to mens when it comes to pro sports?

I think I agree with almost all this. But what does any of this have to do with my post?
