Some people in this thread are really failing at reading comprehension.

Deliberately so.

So, we're about to morph into Trans thread #147 in 5...4...3...

Its much easier for people who spent a year trashing Harris to pretend we avoided some sort of crisis than to just say "maybe I got this one wrong"

Think of all the things the current administration has talked about that aren't Epstein since they ignored the binding order to release the unredacted Epstein files

by coordi m

I'm fine with just putting a (T) next to every record set by a trans athlete

I haven't thought about it too deeply but even separate trans records is probably fine

Its pretty easy to find compromise when the stakes are next to nothing

I say 7% no asteriks and then after that start cracking down.. No one really cares about shotput so let the trans have it

what about combat sports. thats you have to be pretty deranged to think that ones ok. heck even hockey can you imagine chara playing in the whl. people would die

A few deaths will teach those ladies to stick to curling and to leave the manly sports for the men.

Seems like the type of thing that could be addressed if/when needed and not the type of thing you need to spend any energy fantasizing about

Like, I dunno how to tell you guys this, but this isn't a politics topic. You've been wamboozled into caring about things that don't matter

We can just leave these decisions up to the governing bodies and maybe not have the US government dictate how the MLB operates or the NFL or little league soccer

by coordi m

Not sure why you think sports are fair or that life is fair

Thats actually a great lesson for people to learn from sports

I played baseball with CJ Henry, who ended up drafted by the Yankees. His brother played in the NBA. I'm 5'6 and a half

his mean mug for the camera is on point

Is a wamboozling like a bamboozling done in the style of a naff 80's pop band?

Women's college vollyball is great if you ASSk me. I like the international matches too they've got some world clASS players.

Spoiler

luckily she isn't as good at secret inner political feelings sleuthing as other posters here and has no idea that apparently i'm a latent closeted nazi chauvinist transphobe and we can enjoy the world clASS athletes under the guise of liking the sport

Branding has iffy connotations.

In some national tournaments there are open entries to non-national athletes. They can compete and get a position, but they can not win titles or get prizes. That is a fairly simple solution for open entry tournaments.

Paralympics also has systems in place to classify advantages and disadvantages and grouping athletes based on the classification, which is also a solution that can be used. That is a solution for closed entry tournaments.

Insofar as invasive testing goes, ditch it. The honor system will work well for most purposes. If proof is absolutely required, then solve that in the same manner we solve checking that you are not lying about your age, nationality or qualification scores: Credentials.

Seems like this is an issue that can handily be resolved by the sports associations both in amateur and professional sports. While not perfect - they are the people who understand their sports the best and their governing bodies also have athlete representation, which are the best equipped to represent their members. There is no need for politicians or legislators to be involved in what is essentially games.

Insofar as the problem is miniscule, then sure - you could ditch all this and do nothing. It is just sports. However, don't expect unison agreement from neither athletes nor audience.

The House Oversight Committee sure moved quickly to vote the Clintons in contempt but not a word about Pam Bondi. Strange.

Klobuchar running for guv. I wish she would stay put instead.

I'll do coordi one better. The #5 overall pick in the NFL draft had to get 7 or 8 stitches in his dome because of me. Unfortunately for me, he effectively knocked one of my teeth out and I had to get twice as many stitches in my lip as he did in his head.

Still, not bad!

(Sadly, this story doesn't have anything to do with me being a bad ass. We were playing basketball. He pump faked. I bit. And when I started coming down, I got knocked off balance a bit. He jumped at the same time and slammed his head into my mouth.)

Because if you can’t tell, there literally isn’t a problem

That's almost certainly not literally true. Especially on tee-vee. Maybe up close and personal, but not necessarily on the tee-vee machine.

I never said that, but there are divisions for a reason. To say sports aren't fair so it doesn't matter who plays in each division removes the very reason that women's sports exist.

My new unofficial official position is that separating men from women in sports is sexist and dehumanizing.

Trans and cis should all compete together at all levels.

If the ladies can't make the team, that's their problem for being inferior at that given sport. They should just get better at what they do, or take up whist.

We can separate sports by body type instead, such as weight with weighted (lol) modifiers for average bone/muscle density. So a 130-150 weight cat for women would be 100-120 for men or something like that.

Would give the shorts a chance too!

I suspect it would make combat sports far more entertaining. Tons of folks watch auto racing for the car wrecks, so it might be an ever bigger hit (pardon the pun).

I suggest bridge for the ladies. My grandma loved playing bridge.

I think those people are essentially non existent - maybe a tiny fraction of people who watch NASCAR.

Formula One is essentially the NFL of racing in a global sense. The rivalry and the politics and the bragging rights and country fights and such is what drives a lot of that attention. The drivers are also far superior. Basically, the US term of "If you aren't first, you're last" is essentially F1. It's arguable the most competitive sport in the world with most arguments comparing it to soccer.

I think its fair to call F1 the most competitive sport in the world. Its a combination of the best athletes, best minds, and best equipment, all in direct highly regulated competition with each other

If female F1 had a better CMO they'd be up there too.
