The MMA Thread
Since there's a SE Boxing Thread that evolved out of the PBF/Pac abortion, I thought we should have a SE MMA Thread as w
Caught up with the main event and was on the edge of my seat. Gaethje seemingly blocking shots with his face in the first round and then decided to continue doing that. Following Paddy around winging shots, throwing no leg kicks and just walking Paddy down.
They're both tough as nails and i've got no idea how Gaethje defends shots with his face like that. I'd say that someone with a bit more fight IQ would have put Paddy away.
I'm torn whether that fight raised Paddy's stock. It was obviously an entertaining fight. The only thing it really showed is that Paddy is a tough guy and we sort of knew that already. He didn't really show any ground game as the fight was mostly standing and generally seemed to be losing the striking battle and struggling with Gaethje's power.
Happy to pick up the W and hopefully Gaethje may think about retiring on a high note.
Gaethje Ilia will be exciting, but I think Ilia knocks him out. However, that will be a ****ing brawl (for however long).
It would be a striking domination by Ilia. He's a much smarter fighter and I don't see it being close.
Gaethje's only hope would be to catch Ilia with one of his wild swings at the beginning and hope to KO / hurt Ilia and quickly finish the fight.
Another very solid card this weekend. Rooting for Volk/Hooker/Tuivasa/Ruffy, although not confident in any of them. Ruffy is so damn fun to watch. I'm expecting most of the fights to go close to the distance which should be a great viewing experience.
I'll say:
Tai decision (?)
Ruffy decision
Hooker TKO (BSD can probably take this easily but Hooker is more fun)
Volk decision (no idea where this rematch goes, but Diego always puts you on the edge of your seat.)

I think Tuivasa gets kod
Probably, lmao.
Hopefully the break in competition helps him.
I have a small bet on Tuivasa to win by KO. I've not been impressed with Teixeira. He takes quite a bit of shots in his fights and his chin is questionable. Probably his first time in Australia as well with Tuivasa having the home advantage and no travelling.
Probably gonna look stupid after the fight but whatever.
Taking some smalls stabs for crazy odds with
Diego Sub
Hooker Sub
Tai KO
BSD/Ruffy start R3

I don't know a ton about Teix, but Tai just seems washed at this point. He's also going to be at a massive height and reach disadvantage.
It's heavyweight though, so I don't think I'll completely fade him in DFS, but I'll probably just stay away from either side on bets.
I’m gonna have small bets on Oban Elliot and Torrez Finnay
This card should be ****ing awesome.
Ruffy/Fiziev should be a ****ing banger.
Also excited to see Oban come back ^
Tai looked like **** at the weigh-ins and all the money seems to be going to Teix.
Projections aren't out yet, but hard to see me having more than 10% Tai right now. I'll just have to live with it if he wins.
Pretty tame card so far, but hopefully we see some fireworks.
Volk talking all week about taking more chances to take out Diego. I am a bit worried for him but he is also just so damn good.
Tai coming out to Olivia Dean <3
What is Tai doing? You need a KO and he is on skates!
heavyweights aren't the brightest
RUFFY
The energy during Volk's entrance was amazing
I hope he can get this done ...
lol
Anyone watching the UFC event today? I can't believe I'm tuned in right now for this first prelim fight...a woman's MMA fight too :(
