POG Politics Thread Version 3
Come on in! Since Dustin is taking his ball and going home, it's time to start a new politics thread.
My prediction of Mark's take on this: "It's sad, nobody should die like this, but why would you approach a federal agent with a gun?"
It starts off sympathetic, but then turns the blame back on the victim, but because it's phrased like a question it's not meant to appear too accusatory.
Also the use of federal agents instead of modern day Brown Jackets.
Let me know if I'm misrepresenting you Mark.
I read Filthy and Amp's comments. There was real pain, anger and hurt there. I'm respecting that.
Terrible terrible
Sorry if I misrepresented you and sorry if I'm unfair towards you.
I'm not from the US and even so I'm hating what's going on over there. You're pretty much the only conservative that I know, so sorry if I'm taking all my negative feelings out on you.
I'll keep my mouth shut in the future.

no, fuck this, you're too damn nice
Mark supports this shit, and if he doesn't he should come out and say it because god knows we need more conservatives speaking out against federal agents murdering people for minimal provocation
'the government is killing people and immediately, instinctually, lying to try to justify it and dehumanise protestors' is proper fascist shit, this last month is genuinely the most depressed I've ever felt about the USA as an outsider
and if he's not willing to condemn that then some mild criticism on a forum seems, well, the bare minimum really
this last month is genuinely the most depressed I've ever felt about the USA as an outsider
Same from the inside. And my opinion of the US was extremely low before now.
And of course Mark supports this. He voted for it. Trump campaigned on a mass deportation operation. It was his signature policy.
i've flat out hated USA since I was old enough to figure out what a ****ing shitty country it is, probably my early 20s. but I've always loved my people. genuinely good people. or so I ****ing thought.
but now I'm really feeling like Nazi Germany. i ****ing love Germans, some of the best people I ever met. but as a country in the 30s and 40s, they did ****ing horrific ****. and many of those ****ing Germans just let the **** ****ing happen. that's how I feel about a lot of my people who I love. and how I feel about myelf too. I too am complicit. I pay my taxes. I sometimes vote for genocide and fascism with my wallet. I socialize with monsters.
but Euros, you do it too. a lot of your money goes right into evil USA companies. and your govts support our govt. you have your USA military bases all over your countries. you gave Obama the Nobel peace prize. you invite trump over all the time. everyone of you speaks English. and the evil USA is doing is nothing new. it's been going on since 1776. non stop.
we all could do more to oppose genocide and fascism and capitalist climate change.
idk what the lowest point was for me. maybe right now. mark was right, def real pain, anger, and hurt.
I felt terrible the first time trump was elected. I didn't think I would feel bad. but it really bothered me. I also remember feeling awful when I was 8 years old, and Reagan was elected. everyone around me was distraught. all the adults and kids at school.
i've always been terrified of police. i've been brutalized by them, completely unfairly. ice are even worse. I have PTSD. every time I see police I get upset. i've never even seen ice irl.
idk if euros or white Americans can really understand how dangerous it is just to go outside. or even stay inside. i've been pulled out of my house by police, shivering in my underwear and yelled at on the street. when I did nothing wrong. and it's been like that forever.
iraqis get it
aghanis get it
black americans
brown americans
so many others
but ice just doesn't ****ing give a ****. they will tell you to get of your car, and tell you to drive away, then shoot you and kill you. and don't matter if you're white.
in 2020 Minnesota burned down a police station. there were riots all over the country. lebron James and the NBA were going to strike. we had a real chance to make real change. completely defunding the police was genuinely on the table.
Obama called the NBA players and talked them out of striking. the movement fizzled.
Dems actively put a stop to real change. ice and trump and cops and corporations and israel could never get away with this **** if it wasn't for the dems supporting them, and colluding with them.
even now Dems are calling for more training. **** TRAINING! abolish this ****! no ice. no cops. they just kill people, brutalize people.
would you just give Nazis more training?
Do you think white privilege makes white people less cognizant of the danger of interfering with ICE?
If ICE started pepper spraying people I ain't sticking around and recording in case I catch a stay, but a lot of people did.
Nba thing was also during COVID when there was nothing to do so they had even more leverage than normal.
Do you think white privilege makes white people less cognizant of the danger of interfering with ICE?
If ICE started pepper spraying people I ain't sticking around and recording in case I catch a stay, but a lot of people did.
Are you trying to make a virtue of your cowardice.

I generally have a harder time understanding your posts. Im not the best at understanding communication(or reality) lol... but I also I think your posts are less clear than others, at least to me.
so I'm not that sure what you're trying to say/ask here.
but white privilege def makes it harder to understand dangers that police pose to people of color. and it's not just a color thing, but also a class thing. police can judge a white person to be in the same category as a black person, and beat the **** out of that white person, or kill them.
your personal experience with police, and the experiences of the people close to you give you your understanding of police, and they danger they pose. for rich people, police mostly help them, not harm them. for poor people, police abuse them. for people of color police can be abusive no matter class status.
but I think most people of whatever class or race, understand the police pretty accurately according to their own experiences.
when police/ice start pepper spraying people, most people run away, of all classes and races.
I'd guess rich white people stay to record cuz they want to help. they know they're taking a risk.
i'd guess it's the same for people of color, or poor white people. they know they're taking a risk. but I'd guess that this group also has more hatred and rage from personal experience of abuse involved in their decision. and also aware they are taking a greater risk.
and I like the sentiment that recording isn't as helpful as physically restraining police. at least when police are hugely outnumbered.
idk if that answers your question
Sure, people can feel angry or not angry about whatever they want. No need to have to feel the same way other people feel or only care about murders that are news worthy.
I think we all have some responsibility for his death, and Palestine, and iraq, and BLM, and afghanistan, and on and on
but yeah obv Kamala cun **** right off, and everyone who voted for her can **** right off too. I mean I realize your intentions were good when you were voting for her. but lesser of two evils as a consistent fix, ****s us
obv trump is worse. but **** like if we had put a stop to this **** decades ago, standing up for what we actually believe in, and demanding representative govt instead of lesser of two evils, the Dems would have got the message in the 70s, 80s, 90s, and we could have actual democracy and representation.
but I'm thinking we're past the point of voting as a solution
Sure, people can feel angry or not angry about whatever they want. No need to have to feel the same way other people feel or only care about murders that are news worthy.
I feel this is trying to make out that this isn't a big deal.
Government sanctioned (and praised) murder in the street is not the same as gang violence. Not even close.
This is a huge deal.

Nope to your first paragraph. I don't see why I should accept 1 iota of responsibility for any of that.
As for the rest of it, it sounds like this to me:

You're acting like "standing up for what we believe in" is monolithic.

Some deaths and murders and considered normal and acceptable and some aren't because of various reasons.
Is this a big deal? Sort of. It's a big deal because it's though of as big deal. And people who think it's a big deal will have reasons for believing so. Time will tell.
I personally think it's not as big a deal as some here seem to think. Not to say I don't think it was a bad thing.
The government portraying him as a terrorist is probably a bigger deal than the actual murder, if I was to speak on some concept of a "Big Deal" metaphysically.
Maybe Filthy has firebombed many Walmarts.

I agree with you that it's not monolithic. we all have different beliefs that can be good, righteous, and also different. I firmly believe that about you and me. both of us are very good people, who deeply believe in justice and mercy, and doing what's best for the benefit of everyone.
you believe in voting for the lesser of two evils. I don't. I feel strongly that i'm right, but I certainly don't KNOW i'm right. maybe you're right. I'm mostly ok with disagreeing about this. sometimes, like when I see people dying, or I'm afraid to leave my house, I can get passionate and be less ok with this disagreement than I normally am.
but for the most part I like to think that I'm open to huge varieties of opinions and tactics on how to live a good life, and be kind to others.
I'm a huge believer in the benefits of diversity, generally speaking. and you are too.
and sometimes, like you, I feel like I shouldn't accept 1 iota of responsibility for this either. but right now I feel like we all should. we are all part of the human race. you and I hate trump, hate ice.
but...
I just feel like for us to truly have no responsibility for this, we should be out there like John brown. and we aren't. and I think that's a legitimate life choice. I just think we should be aware that we could have done a lot more to oppose this. and instead we prioritized other things. and these are the consequences.

fwiw terrorists shouldn't be executed in the streets either
I mean I'm friends with mark for ****'s sake! and the guy is practically a Nazi! lol... but I think he is a good person who also deeply believes in, and stands up for, kindness and justice and mercy!
