If you lived in Minneapolis, and an ICE agent demand ID.....

......would you comply. (You have broken no law. You're just walking into the grocery store.)

Why or Why not?

Do you live in a big city?

Medium sized major city, similar to Minneapolis

If the ICE agents don't get charged for this, there's some extraordinarily dark times ahead for America and I really can't emphasise this enough. The Good shooting was bad enough but Pretti's murder is beyond the pale

The problem is that it is virtually impossible under the current law to charge a federal agent in a case where they are acting in an official capacity. Even when it is this egregious. They essentially operate in a constitution-free zone.

If it was a local cop, he’d be on his way to a life sentence.

Maybe, maybe there is a tort claim.

They don’t, but they’re doing it anyway.I have family in the Twin Cities. One is a teacher, who had a student get stopped by ICE. The student is Hispanic, but a citizen. Her father told her to always carry her passport. Fortunately she had it when they stopped her and they let her go. She’s a ****ing kid, not some hardened criminal. Trump and his supporters have turned Mi

seems pretty American tbh

because we all agree defending your property with guns is morally permissible, but we haven’t developed a consensus on those other issues. I get you don’t like democracy, but that’s the basic answer.

you may have a right to defend your rights (certain ones of them) and neighbors (depending on who you are “defending” them from) with guns, depending on what you mean by that.

pretty sure you can't find anything in any of my posts opposed to democracy. democracy is about power to the people. guns are power. the more people who have guns, the more power to the people.

when only pigs have guns, that's less democratic.

and one of the main reasons we all go along being exploited by the ruling class is because of massive propaganda telling us we are better off, slaving away, while they live in mansions

His bosses, and I'm guessing his fellow goons, are telling him there were several good reasons.

i've actually heard that a lot of his fellow goons are unhappy with the shooting, and unhappy with a lot of the new agents.

by formula72 m

How do you defend those things with guns?

like russia did in 1917

by Crossnerd m

ICE is in my neighborhood right now. They’re allegedly stopping cars.

Apparently they’re all over midtown.

****... stay safe!

america was founded on racism, literally written into the constitution. the founding fathers owned slaves. everyone on mt Rushmore is racist AF... in fact the mountain itself is a sacred mountain(six grandfathers) to the native people that were slaughtered for having the wrong color skin, and survived centuries of a genocidal campaign.

and to answer your question, I can think of several things more unamerican than being forced to prove your citizenship when merely driving down the road... freedom, justice and democracy to name a few.

GTO is 100% correct. Even if you could prove to a moral certainty that Pretti planned to gun down ICE agents, random civilians, or a roomful of toddlers exactly ten minutes after the altercation in which he was killed, it wouldn't be a defense for the ICE agents who shot him. The ICE agents had no reason to fear him. The video clearly shows that he did not threaten ICE agent

I agree but I can still question what his intentions were

Sure. You can do it. But for what purpose?

To blame the victim, duh

"how many times do I have to say it? I don't think either of them should've died but......"

I already knew the answer to the question. That's why I asked the question.

I know, but since he wasn't going to answer honestly I wanted to do it for him.

Heading to the protest with my friend anyway 👍

Leave your gun at home

by Crossnerd m

Ok, no, they’re actually stopping cars on the street.. I don’t know how they have the authority but there are photos being posted by the neighbors

A friend said they were doing this in Bentonville some weeks back

by lozen m

Leave your gun at home

I have a flower and a candle… hopefully those are still good

We make choices in life and sometimes those choices lead to bad out comes .
If he leaves his gun at home he never gets shot
It's still a tragedy and the officers acted incorrectly

They fkn pepper sprayed him in the first part of their assault on him. And this isn't mentioned enough imho. If they were afraid of a blinded ICU nurse w/ a phone in his hand, they're even bigger cowards than I initially expected.

If you’ve never been pepper sprayed, I hope you never are. It’s brutal, you can’t see, and breathing becomes incredibly difficult. I've been tear gassed and pepper sprayed at protests in my life. Not fun.

I've sprayed bear spray once a bit upwind and just had a bit come back it was brutal I can't imagine pepper spray in the face .

You literally don’t know this, lol. He didn’t HAVE a gun when he was murdered. Quit victim blaming.

Bro... you're in a poker forum. If you have access to a crystal ball, you need to be posting that sht to the highest bidder.

Still blaming the victim is beyond sad. You're trying to mask by saying, he shouldn't have been shot, but you're still victim blaming. WEAK minded BS.

Stop blaming the victim you worthless sack of ****. He didn't do a single thing wrong. You're a diehard bootlicker. Just own it instead of doing this stupid little dance you always do.

In the current status of Minnesota and ICE bringing a ****ing gun to protest ice is a fxxking stupid decision

you probably don't have protective eyewear... but **** man... I wish you did!

hella proud of you for going! just please stay safe.

and anyone going to a protest should have protective eyewear at a minimum.

like seriously, wear a ****ing bicycle helmet if you have one. whatever you have.

and heavy duty earplugs if you have them. sometimes they use audio attacks. and either way the whistles and the yelling.

Seems like the government shouldn't be directly creating a situation where exercising ones rights is a stupid decision

Almost seems unconstitutional
