If you lived in Minneapolis, and an ICE agent demand ID.....

......would you comply. (You have broken no law. You're just walking into the grocery store.)

Why or Why not?

Holy **** if that's what you think "illegal immigrant" means.

if your a migrant who has received citizenship you go to jail. if your a migrant in the process of gaining citizenship and you commit a crime? You go away? its not that hard to understand for me anyway.

I don't see how that logic has become controversial

by checkraisdraw m

Deporting a lawful resident doesn’t convert them into an illegal immigrant. That might be the dumbest thing I read today.

who cares about what you call it. your saying if i drive 30 min over the border rent a house and get a green card then rape someone i shouldn't be sent back to Canada? Why would the united states be on the hook for paying to jail me. a good counter argument would be asylum seekers with no passport but no one brought that up. I think were getting a little hungup on terminology and not enough on logic. A lawful resident should not have every right of a citizen yet

I see that you’re committed to your current level of understanding

Traditionally even an unlawful resident is protected by the constitution while on US soil and is at the least afforded due process.
They basically invented gitmo to avoid this stuff.

by MoViN.tArGeT m

And even if it were true (its not) you guys are not protesting against that. your protesting against all deportation which includes the criminals and illegals. No one would be annoyed if you were protesting "legal immigration deportations" We would all be on your side.

While Obama and Biden were deporting over a million people a year there were some protests from the "far left" but mostly everyone moved on with their day. When Trump sent all those guys with face tattoos to El Salvador there was a little blip of winging.
The turnout now is people don't like government jackboot thugs roaming around their cities seemingly randomly demanding people's papers that don't look "American".

well importantly if you’re here illegally and are charged with a crime, it doesn’t automatically cause you to lose your citizenship. you still have rights that come attached to having permanent resident status.

an illegal immigrant or someone whose status has lapsed, if charged with a crime, can of course be automatically deported because they are by definition always deportable.

by the way just a technicality but just being in jail doesn’t mean you are guilty of a crime. you can be charged and housed in jail while awaiting your trial. so I do think that we have a duty to pay for their jail while they await due process.

Who claimed that most of the murders in Chicago or any other city were committed by law enforcement?

Nobody claimed that.

I responded to this:

by filthyvermin m

are you really trying to say that police don't terrorize black communities?

With this:

by geezerchess m

Of course they do. But not necessarily as much as those communities terrorize themselves.

Rococo
I doubt that Klansmen committed most of the murders in Mississippi in 1950 either, but it doesn't follow that the public had no reason to be concerned about lynchings.

Of course not. I never claimed, implied or insinuated otherwise.

While they sadly might exist somewhere, I suspect there are very few neighborhoods in which police murdering citizens is anywhere close to the number of citizens murdering fellow citizens.

addendum: Of course any police officer murdering a citizen should get the harshest penalty allowed by law imo.

Breaking news: the vast majority of crimes are not committed by members of law enforcement.

Thanks, captain obvious. Perhaps next you can explain how that is in any way relevant to the present conversation. When an accountant gets arrested for DUI, do you also point out that the vast majority of DUIs are not committed by accountants?

well thats just cucked behavior I understand getting a trial first tho. it seems like alot of ices targets are people who failed to appear in court which is breaking your bond which gets you put in jail which is probably a big enough offense to get deported. you don't really need a trial for failure to appear. because you literally didn't appear. Ice is pretty much dog the bounty hunter lmao

The people deported to CECOT were mostly not criminals.

were talking about non citizens tho. these are illegal immigrants sir. how can you be here illegally and be a citizen? My brain cannot compute. if you have a permanent resident status that would make you LEGAL I think this is where the disconnect is

lol, yeah human rights, only cucks want those.
Unrelated, are you hoping Alberta breaks away?

If you can be deprived of due process due to category, then you do not have due process as the government can simply claim you belong to that category.

We (as in most western nations) have played this game for near 30 years of "war on terror", and the cost has been reduced freedom of press, reduced freedom of speech, reduced government transparency, obliteration of privacy and the supposed rewards are conveniently hidden behind layers of government secrecy.

Ignoring court orders is what criminals do. I guess ICE is a criminal organization then?

Republican appointed judge blasts ICE’s consistent refusal to comply with court orders.

hell no would you want texas and California to leave. if it goes Canada goes its literally in the middle. I do feel bad for people in Alberta tho I got family there its like a completely different place ideology. They got all this oil they can't use because of elitists in Ottawa. Canada has crazy trade barriers between provinces. its easier for us to trade with the united states then with each other because of political barriers. They had to put up with 14 years of liberal rule while giving almost zero seats to the winning party. They pretty much have not had representation because they been on the losing side for so long

What the point in participating in a forum with a handful of people if you can't read half of the posts? (I say this realizing you probably can't read this post)

The fun part is that you can read them if you choose. This way, you can just ignore them much more easily.

by MoViN.tArGeT m

its literally how it works tho? your like on a trial if you commit a serious crime you go to jail and back to your country. why is this controversial? Your trying out for the team not everyone makes it

It's literally not how it works. I'm a legal immigrant to the united states. I am a citizen of both the US and Canada. If I commit a crime in the US, I don't become an illegal immigrant.

You are aggressively stupid.

Hope that helped.

oh ok... thats not what I said at all but ok you invented something that you think is stupid that never was said because you want to feel outrage. how do you feel about alberta?

If your a legal immigrant you know that means your an american right? Not an illegal immigrant that ice is targeting

by MoViN.tArGeT m

oh ok... thats not what I said at all

It's exactly what you said.

Just shut up idiot.

im a little confused about the way these green cards work. I don't know why you have to make it so confusing. I always assumed a green card ment you were american and a legal immigrant was someone trying to get a green card in the earlier stages. I don't know why a green card holder like you is called a legal immigrant because your clearly fully american. but if your not fully American and your convicted of a crime you should definitely be sent packing to Calgary from their pov

no it doesnt mean that. you can just google it man.

idk man stop being so american centric not everyone knows all your legal bullshit. or do we care. I couldnt tell you one of your amendments. something about guns right? MERICA

"A green card holder who commits murder faces immediate criminal prosecution in U.S. state or federal courts, typically resulting in a lengthy prison sentence, followed by mandatory deportation"

seems like you do that anyway. what are we talking about here. I
