Winter Break! Trip report 1/27-2/3
Sitting here in sub zero weather I am really looking forward to getting out of here next week for the much more desirabl
erase any emotion from the loss if you are considering playing cash games later
otherwise i look forward to reading the exploits of tomorrow
you certainly can't fold AK for 20 bigs. just need to get better at hitting an Ace
Looks like Ace King is the Hand of Death so far today. A couple rounds before I got knocked out with Ace King I was at my peak of chips at only about 35k. I raised pre-flop with Ace King and a short stack with about 10K came over the top All In. Obviously I called and she had queen queen and no Acer King hit so I was back down to a starting stack level.
As soon as I got knocked out of the tournament I went immediately to the Venetian to play some cash I played for about 2 hours and I was Treading Water up a little bit. Then I raised with Ace king. A short stack came in over the top All In another short stack of the larger than the first one also came all in I had them both covered and my Ace King was suited so I called. One of them had tons one of them had Jacks and The Flop turn and River didn't have any Aces or kings. So I got stuck about $150. $148 to the exact and I decided it was time to go get something to eat.
Trying to find a good sit-down dinner at 6:30 on a Saturday night in Vegas is next to Impossible without a reservation. But I didn't really want to do that anyway so I just hit the downstairs food court at the venetian. Howlin' Ray's Fried Chicken is awesome and that's what I decided to get.

I had the three Tenders in shake fries and it was really delicious. If you like fried chicken you will like this place. The tenders are huge and have a variety of heat levels. Iam on the list and I'm going to head back up to the Venetian poker room right now and try to get into another game. Hopefully I don't get AK too many times.
After eating those delicious tenders I headed back up to the Venetian poker room and got right back in a game. It was a good but uneventful session I was in for $300 out for 401 so I won $100 back.

I was really tired and sore. I even got a massage at the table which I normally don't do but always enjoy. It almost put me to sleep. But I wanted to get back up to the room because all I really wanted to do was take out my contact lenses take off my shoes because my feet were really sore. As I mentioned earlier this room has two bathrooms. I've been using the one with the shower because I take a shower everyday. But the other bigger bathroom has a big jacuzzi tub in it and I decided to try that out tonight. It was really nice and relaxing and I'll probably do it again tomorrow.

Just going to chill in the room until I go to bed in a little bit. The plan for tomorrow is the 11:00 one day event at the Venetian for $400. That will be my last chance this trip at tournament glory.
In the past when I was ready to leave a table I would tell myself "I'll play until the blinds come". Now it's "I'll play until the next bomb pot". I really despise these things.
Slept pretty lousy again last night but at least I stayed in bed until about 5:30 a.m. I got up got cleaned up a little bit and headed straight to the fitness center. I really wanted to get a good sweat going which I did. After that I went back up to the room got cleaned up and headed down for another free Treasure Island breakfast. I had the French toast and sausage patties because I always like to try everyone's French toast because it's one of my favorite breakfast vacation meals. It was good.

Now I'm just going to get my steps in walking around the Venetian Palazzo until 11:00 when I would be getting into the tournament. If you don't like walking down those long Las Vegas hotel always to your room you should get one of these petite sweets at the treasure island. They are right off the elevator Bank in fact from the elevator Bank you can see my room.

The downside of this is every loud drunk coming off the elevator is very easy to hear.
A few comments....I'm sure that the chicken was good, but you are at the Venetian. Just go to Yardbird.I've never played at the Wynn, but.... gross:
Actually did go to Yardbird but on a Saturday night there's just no way to get in there it was like almost an hour wait. But Howlin Rays is very very good at half the price.
Since I'm just trying to kill time before the tournament starts I decided to do an experiment. I time to walk from the Venetian elevator Bank to the poker room. It took 4 minutes and 15 seconds. Then I compared that with a walk from the Treasure Island elevator Bank to the Venetian poker room. That was 6 minutes and 45. So the Treasure Island is very convenient to playing poker at the venetian.

I don't think Yardbird is that expensive, but your points are valid. Also good chicken at Block 16, but you are way north of that. There's also a great place off the strip, but the name escapes me.
how did you get offers at Treasure Island? have you played there? was the suite advertised ahead of time?
I've gotten comp rooms and freeplay but not food or suite
I'm a cheap skate, but I'd rather pay a low price for Hattie's, Chick fil-A, or Dave's than 2x-3x that for Yardbird.
Went once and wasn't impressed. You're paying big markup for the ambience. Marginal quality difference doesn't justify the gouge IMO.

Yardbird has huge portions. I'm not sure I agree, but to each their own. Also, Bouchon since MrB is at the Venetian.
You can probably nuke CFA from this list. As I said, I agree with Hattie's.
good start! good luck
Second break 85.9 k just barely above average. Only 60 players registered so far but it's still open until the end of this break.

Is King got me again I flopped top too He Flops the street that put it down into my stack. I was riding pretty good before that hand.
we should always pause one or twice to acknowledge fatigue is a thing
The length of MTT days is one of the really good reasons to late reg IMO. (Which I don’t do tbh because of the gifts potentially available in the first two rounds)
But for those mtt regs who are skilled at sub 40bb poker, late regging allows them to be fresh and playing A game at the point of a tournament day when it really matters and when others are more or less playing face up poker because they’re so tired
Nice uptick, take it down!
romp and stomp as if you own their souls
is it just me or does it seem like the Hard Rock is going up extremely fast?
