Winter Break! Trip report 1/27-2/3
Sitting here in sub zero weather I am really looking forward to getting out of here next week for the much more desirabl
Looks like over 20bb. Great stuff. Run well!
Just busted in fourth place paid 1985 for profit of 1585. Knock out hand I had an over pair to the board and he had a set we got it in and that was that. I'll probably talk more about this tomorrow right now I'm off to a celebratory dinner.
nice job Mrbb!
Great stuff! Shame to get so close to the win but 4th is excellent
I am very happy with the result but yeah I really would have liked to win. But these final tables can be iffy and roller coastery. I saw my shot and I took it and it missed.
I was really hungry since it been about 14 hours since I ate that French toast this morning and I didn't have anything else since. So I went to a quasi traditional celebratory spot for dinner where I've gone off and after a tournament cash. Of course I mean Grimaldi's which is only about 200 ft from the Venetian poker room. I typically get the calzone but it's a little heavier so I decided just to get the regular pizza instead. As always it was outstanding.

I'm back up in the room now and I'm just going to chillax for a while and hopefully get a good night's sleep but that's doubtful. I'm going to have a beer or two I'm about ready to fill up that jacuzzi tub again and just sitting there and relax as it's been a long grueling day.
I know I said this was the last tournament of the trip since I'm leaving very very early on Tuesday morning. My flight is at 7:05 a.m. so it makes it tough if I make it to the end of a tournament to get a good night's sleep. But I'm not getting good night's sleep anyway so maybe I'll hit the Wynn daily tomorrow. And a bare minimum I will probably play the Caesars Palace 10:00 a.m. quasi donlkament ent. It kind of starts out as a real tournament but after the break it turns into a shovefest. I've cashing it before and I kind of like that format because it's fun so I might just do that. Otherwise I'll just be grinding some cash and trying to get to bed early.
Hit the Daily!
Not sleeping after a tourney deep run is well worth it andβ¦.its only fitting to leave Vegas feeling like ****!
I don't think Yardbird is that expensive, but your points are valid. Also good chicken at Block 16, but you are way north of that. There's also a great place off the strip, but the name escapes me.
My typical Yardbird bill is around 80ish dollars. Lewellyns fine fried chicken, skillet cornbread and a couple of beers. Depending on how things pan out I may have it tomorrow π Tournament play doesn't coinside with meal plans. If I don't play the Wynn tomorrow it's a toss up between Delmonico and Yardbird. If I do likely neither. Depends if I want a fine meal or another shot at tournament glory. Las Vegas tournament tables are my happy place π
I'm a cheap skate, but I'd rather pay a low price for Hattie's, Chick fil-A, or Dave's than 2x-3x that for Yardbird.
Went once and wasn't impressed. You're paying big markup for the ambience. Marginal quality difference doesn't justify the gouge IMO.
If you like Hatties (it's great!} you will love Howlin' Rays. There is chicken a plenty at the Venetian. Jaybird and Popeyes in the upper food court, Howlin' Rays in the casino level food course and of course Yardbird. There is also a Popeyes in the TI.
how did you get offers at Treasure Island? have you played there? was the suite advertised ahead of time?
I've gotten comp rooms and freeplay but not food or suite
Offers? I don't get offers π I just typically book the hotel/flight offer through either Southwest or United. This trip was Southwest and I compared prices and found I could get a TI petite suite for less than half th price of a Venetian/Palazzo room. If the V/P is quasi reasonable that is where I stay (usually?) but if it is not I look to the TI since all the tournaments I want to play are at that end of the strip. I was unaware of the food comp until I got here but it was likely part of the deal through Southwest
I just don't gamble enough to ever get any kind of recognition. Although I did find a video poker machine I like at the TI and I may pump a newfound Benjamin or two into it tomorrow π

You make a good point π I come to LV primarily to play tournaments. I don't mean to brag but I have an excellent track record and I am positive I have a lifetime "winning" record. Not sure I can say that about cash? Tournaments are my happy place.
Congrats on the cash.
Great run!!

yeah I didn't think you do the games that casinos usually comp you for. that's cool you got a good deal through SW and get some bonus food out of it too.
good luck Monday in whatever you do
Well done! Good luck on your last day and safe travels!
Is King got me again I flopped top too He Flops the street that put it down into my stack. I was riding pretty good before that hand.
I admit, I wasn't sure what was going on here. I thought you were out from the first quote.
Great run!
Congratulations on the cash. Sleep on the plane. Play cards.
Decided before go on my free breakfast this morning because the line was ridiculous.

Decided I'm going to play in the Caesars Palace donkament today. I decided I'm going to forgo the Wynn daily and probably just play Cash after this tournament ends it starts at 10:00. I have too much packing and organizing to do tonight before I leave early tomorrow morning so I don't want to mess with the late night tournament.
CP chips are disgusting
The Caesars Palace and Ballys / Horseshoe tournaments are the most fun if you want to kill time and have some fun. The blind levels are insane, especially at Horseshoe and the number of confused players who canβt adjust to a turbo structure is equally insane. A friend of mine last year would play several of them every day for a month straight and he won a crazy amount of them + cashed like ~75% of the time.
Wynn has 2 dailies, btw. Earlier one is $200, later one is $160 or $180. When I played the $200, the money was broken in the afternoon.
Out in 12th Place it was just a ridiculous tournament as always lots of fun. Final hand the small blind I was big blind small blind called I shoved he called he attends I had king queen I hit my king queen he had a straight oh well
