The "LOLCANADA" thread...again
So what's new?
I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet
Not till I moved to BC and found my plumber, gas fitter , electrician tickets were no good here but we're in other provinces . As well a friend who is a massage therapist certified in Alberta can't work here unless she spends a ton of cash .
Isn't it funny how everyone can come work in Alberta. People can reside in any province, fly in and work, not spend a single dime, fly home and spend their money, pay their provincial taxes.
Cool, you also said it was part of the Elbows Up! campaign, so either argue your point or stfu.
Lol. Yes, Mark Carney made interprovincial trade barriers a big part of entire campaign. I know, I know, you only latched onto a single catch phrase - grossly misinterpreted it - and have been pissy about it for a year since. However, back down in reality, he talked about "making one economy out of 13" in speech after speech after speech after speech. I mostly don't ask you to back up any of the BS you say because, like, you won't, but let's just noticed I tested it here to see if you had any evidence for your claim and shockingly you just havne't provided any. Ok.
When did we not become close allies? There's a lot of noise and ongoing trade negotiations but we are still super close allies and have the 2nd best trade deal in the world with USA.
Lol. You just told us that Trump knows we are ****ed and is using us for his advantage. Does that sounds like a "close ally"? He just threatened 100% tariffs following Carney making a good, truthful, well received speech about precisely how the world order where the big and powerful act to their advantage. It isn't like we are suddenly team russia. We're still integrated with the US in many, many ways. But the closeness of that relationship has been tarnished due to one man you love. Although it is true I have talked about the "2nd best trade deal in the world" - thank you CUSMA - and it is glad the cons are finally catching on to this because for a while they kept whining that Carney hadn't secured the magical deal that magically removes tariffs.
So when you cheered Elbows up! What did you expect Canada was going to do? You wanted a trade war and to put your elbows up and fight. Now you throw a hissy fit when the other side makes threats back?
"makes threats back"? LMAO. Trump attacked us. Not the other way around. You can't just revisionist history and pretend we voted to attack the US economically and they are only responding "back". Just lmao can you be more pathetic?
Lol at being super flipping mad a President from another country made us crack down on fentanyl.
LMAO. Hook. Line. Sinker. Of course nobody is against working against fentanyl as is, and must, be part of every level of governments responsibility. But just lol of all lols was the pretense that Canada needed these 25% tariffs because of this tiny tiny fraction of US bound fentanyl came in. It gave legal pretext for a specific type of order in the US, but everyone knew Trump didn't give two shits about it and it couldn't possibly jsutify the threats. Now that a year has gone by and he went from attacking just Canada on just that to launching a global trade war and a long litany of gripes about Canada, the rest of us have caught on that this was never about fentaynl. But look at you pretending this is just trump making a legit point we should all nod along with. LMAO.

The sad reality is all these trades work is inspected and covered by national building codes .
As for the massage therapy she can fly to Newfoundland spend a few $1000 and get certified there and BC recognizes that certification
I have heard that even teachers certificates are not honored in BC

Only in Shifty's fantasy world do you treat your ''super close ally'' the way Trump does.
Life must be so easy when you're a simpleton like Shifty.
I remember pierre made that fancy youtube video about provincial trade barriers and the next day carny started talking about it too lol. that angie pieere made his entire campaign complaining the libs keep stealing his platform. big carnie W.
I mean it was the obvious play for anyone wish peirre made it a bigger part of his campaign tho because it definitely is more likely to actually happen

Is this the actually timeline? Carney definitely borrowed from the most popular CPC policies and took a step to the right, a fairly big step to the right from Trudeau. But reducing interprovincial trade barriers was a nearly day 1 thing for carney I’m the campaign and also the One Canadian Economy Act was the first big bill in parliament, so I don’t think this one is fair.

Carney is more equal to Stephen Harper in his policies. He is getting ready to scrap another Trudeau policy in the EV mandate

Noway! He talked and made speeches (4?) about it, how has the statue not been built yet?

Yes, in trade negotiations. The current US administrations view is Canada has been taking advantage of us in trade, now you can screech and say well they need us to blah blah, but we are currently the ones blaming all our problems on them. Which is why Trump said this would be a lot easier if you just became the 51st state.

That big meanie! We spent the last decade believing we were solving global climate change and relying on mass immigration to drive up real estate. All while being snobs towards and trashing USA.

Crazy all of the biggest Fentanyl busts happened in the last year, coincidence I'm sure.
Also crazy how you are now an expert on legal pretexts. I must have missed your posts about Trudeau's government freezing citizens bank accounts.

had to have been because it think the video came before carney was even announced. the video is dated feb 3rd. carney won election on marc 9th. it was a pretty good video no idea if anything has been done to reduce provincial trade barriers tho. got any idea ? I think we need drastic measures on this issue. If mark does well here hes got my vote if not im going back to the party who had the idea to begin with
Didn't they announce in November they're working towards one economy and not 13 by removing these barriers? I think they already removed federal barriers to interprovincial trade and now it's up to the provinces to expand on this. Either that or I read it is meant to happen soon, cba googling it atm.

Still no solutions. Just regurgitating word salads spoken by orange pedo. Just move there, they're in desperate need for useful idiots.
Neither did I? I'm extremely anti liberal party, that party has done irreparable damage to Canada. While Carney certainly seems better than Justin, that entire party deserves the noose for selling out Canada.
No no, you first. I've asked before, can't wait for the word salad that follows.

They may be working towards it but two provinces will not remove the barriers BC and Quebec .
Noway! He talked and made speeches (4?) about it, how has the statue not been built yet?
Lol you are so bad at this. You seemed blissfully ignorant that Carney talked about interprovincial trade issues relentlessly during the campaign despite being triggered for a solid year by the "elbows up" slogan. So when I point this out you go blah blah speeches. But obviously it was speeches during the campaign then the first major bill in the One Canadian Economy Act removed most of the remaining federal barriers and work has been going on the last year between the provinces with federal supports on things like the regulatory differences etc.
You have a lot of other bad points, but I had to fly in a plane to....ugh....Alberta today so that's all you get.
Can't any, say, red seal electrician or whatever from Alberta easily get certified in BC? Like you can say it should be zero hoops, but aren't the hoops that exist now pretty damned low and big?
No actually the barriers are large for electrical and plumbing and gas fitting . The one weird thing is I can bring mechanical ascites not inspected in BC
Is it actually hard? You're the local domain expert here, so I'll defer, but from my googling it looks like anyone with a red seal certificate can easily register and apply for a BC certificate. Like I don't think basic journeyperson work even needs an exam?
Geez, this info is not hard to find, the electrician one I already knew since my son is a master electrician and is a licensed contractor with his own business.
A Red Seal is recognized across all Canadian provinces and proves national‑level competency. It is the standard portable credential that makes working interprovincially straightforward.
The Red Seal is recognized by all Canadian jurisdictions as a national trade standard.
Red Seal electricians can generally obtain a BC Certificate of Qualification with minimal extra steps (usually paperwork, fees, and ID verification).
As for other trades, here's the situation. It's being worked on.
1. Canada is actively removing labour‑mobility barriers
The federal government is pushing toward “one Canadian economy” by eliminating internal trade and labour‑mobility barriers.
The Free Trade and Labour Mobility in Canada Act provides that a worker licensed or certified in one province can work in a comparable occupation under federal jurisdiction, reducing duplication.
Provinces and the federal government are working through the Committee on Internal Trade to improve mutual recognition and mobility standards.
What this means: The trend is toward easier mobility for tradespeople.
✅ 2. The goal: workers certified in one province should be recognized in all others
The Canadian Free Trade Agreement (CFTA) explicitly aims for any worker certified in one province to be recognized as qualified in all provinces.
But in practice, trades and other regulated professions still face “complex licensing and credentialing schemes,” causing real‑world inconsistencies.
Reality check: The system is improving but still uneven.
✅ 3. Who currently benefits most from improved mobility?
According to labour‑mobility analyses:
Skilled trades are among the top 5 sectors benefiting from mobility reforms (along with healthcare, trucking, general services, construction).
Multiple provinces have begun adopting mutual recognition models, such as Nova Scotia, Ontario, and PEI.
Conclusion: Trades are one of the primary focus areas for mobility improvements.
Now compared to our dear neighbour to the south.
Canada
Licensing is provincial, but Canada has strong national mobility frameworks such as the Red Seal Program and increasingly harmonized rules under agreements like the Canadian Free Trade Agreement.
The federal government is actively removing barriers to interprovincial labour mobility as part of the Free Trade and Labour Mobility in Canada Act, increasing portability across provinces. [canada.ca]
United States
Licensing is state‑based and far more fragmented.
No national standard equivalent to Canada’s Red Seal.
Each state sets unique requirements for trades, leading to widespread inconsistency.
A Red Seal is recognized across all Canadian provinces and proves national‑level competency. It is the standard portable credential that makes working interprovincially straightforward.
Red seal is recognized in Quebec, but an application process is still required from out of province trademan to work there. Quebec also has a separate designation and unless they want to work out of province they don't write the red seal exam. Alberta/Sask also do this, people can only write a journeymen exam and work in Alberta/Sask. But not other provinces.

Isn't it the same in BC? If you have a red seal it's trivial to work in BC and/or Alberta, just have to register. If you have a provincial journeyperson status in Alberta and want to work in BC just as you suggest here you might have to do an exam in BC and then you can work just the same. This is not at all my area so I might be wrong here, but it seems pretty straightforward either way.
I don't know the details here, but it might also be that things are shifting. Part of Carney's big free trade and labour mobility act which is only in place for six months or so was for precisely these kinds of things, to make it easier for workers certified in one province to work with other provinces.
