Gambling will clearly never die, it will just come in new forms. Any ideas what could be up and coming in the future? Prediction markets are like a mini poker boom right now, college kids making millions with simple bots. Eventually the quant firms will eat all the edge up.

profitable, upper middle class income, public poker will clearly cease to exist (if its not gone already). heavily curated private games and home games among "friends" will persist and a few individuals with strong networking and people skills will continue to make a living in that strange world.

gambling as a viable person to person occupation will cease to exist in far less than 20 years, you need a wealthy supply of dumb but confident people and they are dying off in mass and being replaced by individuals who might be dumb and confident but will run everything through AI first before putting legitimate money on it. AI bots will fight/trick/scam other AI bots and AI assisted humans millions at a time for pennies each in increasingly efficient markets of all kinds but it will add up for the people who use the tools best. Ai allows everyone to basically have the smartest person in the world in their pocket to answer any question or build any online tool. The disruption is going to be insane, many will live off UBI is my guess and it will be paid in stable coin dollars which basically track every spend and warn people when they are about to make a "mistake".

In the 90s I hosted a $1-2 (5 to go) pot limit dealer call it home game (the official mensa poker game). at one point i won 33 straight sessions. Thats probably the smallest i ever played because los angeles didn't have no limit poker until maybe 2004 (no place did, basically all DAILY poker was limit pre boom) and the only pot limit game was 5-5 with a near constant straddle.

I have my oil positions on a very short leash and have already taken some profits and moved it into EWY which i felt was way oversold. Im up over 30% on my oil positions in 3 months and that was what i was projecting for the entire year. I believe they are moving into reverse free roll range and will move out of them on any multi day pullback and probably buy more AAPL which is a stock/company people dont understand well (they dont make "phones" they make luxury robots for an extremely loyal ecosystem)

true, degens can make good founder/CEOs though. like the FedEx founder who took the company treasury to Vegas to run it up on blackjack so he could make payroll and keep the company alive.
the founder/CEO kind of has to be by default a degen because you're taking a massive risk that will consume years of your life and the most likely outcome is you come out of it broke and alienating people.
they're people that you can invest in, if you have the money and risk appetite to be an early investor in a high-risk business that is probably going to fail but might achieve outsized success, and if your bankroll is big enough you can make it a derisked investment by putting 100 different bets on 100 different degens.
I'd rather have my money riding on someone like Mike Mizrachi to win the WSOP ME than someone like Jonathan Little. there's just a much higher chance the degen actually does sunrun it and binks the 10,000x.

they do NOT make good founders, thats survivorship bias. Yes, the biggest single winner will likely come out of the degen group (in the short run) but the mass of biggest losers will as well cancelling all of that out and then some. There was once a study done on this using charity casino results IIRC.
