The "LOLCANADA" thread...again
So what's new?
I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet
Isn't it the same in BC? If you have a red seal it's trivial to work in BC and/or Alberta, just have to register. If you have a provincial journeyperson status in Alberta and want to work in BC just as you suggest here you might have to do an exam in BC and then you can work just the same. This is not at all my area so I might be wrong here, but it seems pretty straightforward
An electrician needs to pass an exam not sure what's in it and will also be required to take a field safety review course in order to pull a permit . If he passed the exam he can work as an electrician but cannot pull a electrical permit
On this I am 100% sure

A red seal can 100% work in BC without writing an exam. An electrician from Alberta who only ever wrote the Journeymen exam would have to write the red seal exam.
Pretty much every province has their own required certification for pulling permits, because every province/municipality has different codes and regulations.
The red seal program just all seems....totally fine and reasonable?
I never said it wasn't. Other than Quebec making red seals apply before they can work there.
Lozen was the one complaining about labour mobility that I suspected was overstating it, not you. Although if you want the focus back on you, you still owe us a reference!

He can work but can not pull a permit which makes it impossible for me to bring in a company from Alberta to do a job .
Yes a red seal can work for an electrical company in BC but could not operate as a company
No it doesn't, if the Alberta company wants the work they can just someone with an FSR or pay someone to pull the permit.
So a Alberta firm pays a BC firm to pull a permit for them . If they do that the FSR officer must be present at the inspections and book them .
Sadly I know this as I made the mistake of hiring a Red Seal BC electrician that did not have her FSR certification.
I ended up firing her

They have to book it but do not have to be present. Might want to be though because it's their license.

A Red Seal can't pull a permit in Alberta either. Incompetence on your end, sad a person was fired because you don't know how to do your job.

She was fired for sheer incompetence and on advice from the lead inspector here.
If you want me to list all the issue I'll be more than willing
Do you not understand why a BC Electrician with and FSR would not want to pull permits for an out of province electrician
Sadly it doesn't effect the license of the person that pulls it as well
Funny your the expert on hiring electrician in BC when I actually am doing it

Ok, well you made it seem like it was because she couldn't pull permits.

Then hire one? This is something that should be in place well before any contract is ever awarded.
Sure it does, it's their name on the permit, their reputation amongst inspectors.
I am thanks, I hire and manage electricians from coast to coast,in every province but Quebec for commercial, industrial, nuclear etc. projects.

Maybe you know the answer to this how complex is this Field Safety Review course ?
I never understood why she owned her own company but never took the time to get that certification
Who knows? Plenty of homeowners are willing to pay someone to do work for them without a permit if it's cheap and not everything requires a permit.
It also takes time, money, additional classes, exams and at least 2 years of post red seal experience to get. You aren't exactly dealing with the cream of the crop in residential construction.
Trump's having another temper tantrum, once again threatening to hurt Canada (and the US). THis time over the Gordie Howe bridge. This new bridge between Canada and the US is one that CANADA ENTIRELY PAID FOR. And it gave joint ownership to Canada and Michigan. And it used a bunch of US workers and US steel in construction. And it was signed off on by none other than Trump himself who praised it under trump 1. But of course none of that matters and Trump has yet another deranged rant threatening to block it's opening unless Canada satisfied vague demands.
The in vogue thing for Canadian conservatives ITT is to wax on about how obviously Canada shouldn't have economically depended on the US because what if someone like Trump came along. But someone like Trump did come along and we worked with him and built and paid for this bridge it's just that Trump 2.0 unbridled is so so so much worse.
I wonder if American dairy hitting the shelves will lower the price.

Elbows up
Let me give you a piece of advice Trump's threats are like Trudeau's promises they rarely end up happening

While it is definitely true that Trump Always Chickens Out is basically a meme at this point and probably what will happen here, it's still pathetic. And there are a big list of things he hasn't chickened out on that are hurting Canadians today.
Lmao. Vintage Shifty. In Trump's long, insane, rambling lie-filled attack against Canada threatening to stop the bridge Canada paid for that Trump agreed to the bit you latched on to, the bit you responded to, the bit you focused on as important was the section after raving about China eliminating the stanley cup that he threw in dairy into his list of grievances?
LOL.
Sycophants through and through.

Please nothing Trump has done has hurt Canada as much as the policies Justin Trudeau put in place
95% of all goods still cross tariff free and the other ones Biden tariffed as well
Most of it has been empty threats
I'm more worried about CUSMA negotiations this summer were he really will screw us
So far our response Elbows Up
Sad to wake up to something that just doesn't occur in Canada a mass school shooting .

I suppose I could have just made multiple post with multiple adjectives for affect.
Why did Canada pay for and build the bridge?
I keep getting mail (air mail to be specific) from 407 ETR to remind me that I have a toll credit. As far as I can tell, my options are:
Use my credit towards future travel
Transfer it to another 407 ETR account (which I do not have)
Request a refund
I'm leaning towards requesting a refund since I could honestly use the cash.
The amount is $0.09, not sure is that's USD or CDN.
