Ready to make my first bet of the season.

I'll bet up to $50 on either or both of the following:

- the AFCW has the highest average win % in the AFC
- the AFCW has a top 3 highest average win % in the NFL

The SE Sportsbook is open for business!

Kind of a crazy stat:
The salary cap is roughly $303.5MM. The Jets have $91.2MM in dead money, but still somehow also have almost $80MM in cap space.

lol jets

jets are the pink knotted tampering string found hanging around fringe east jersey daisy duke jort elements

The Jets are the sole reason every bad team in every major sport doesn't just implode.

Essentially a "does Mahomes come back healthy" bet tied in with Raiders unders.

Just on quick eyeball glance, AFCW would have measured 3rd in AFC this year and their top 3 were 4th in NFL.

I don’t know that this is the case at all

Raiders underperformed their talent laughably by having an absolute joke of an HC hire. Bad as the o-line, talent is objectively there

Unless Kubiak is a complete and total fraud, even a minor investment in the o-line will be enough to hit the over regardless of if it’s geno or mendoza

Mahomes has had 3 straight pretty underwhelming years, Brady had years like that sporadically but you could usually explain them away from the team clearly being bad(2006- no WRs, 2009 - off ACL, Moss getting old, 2013 - Gronk ACL/Hern murder/Welker FA, 2019 - team sucked)

You can do this with Mahomes the last 3 years with Kelce fading, Rice injury, inconsistent OL/running game but still 3 years in a row is like 50-55 games of pretty meh football at this point as far as judging an all-time great.

What is the chance he is entering 2021 Russell Wilson territory? Wilson was elite from 2017-2020 then just hit compeletely hit a wall.

was russ and pat just seriously compared in any way

Wilson was objectively better from 2018-2020 than Mahomes was the last 3 years, so I guess they shouldn't be?

He was also clearly 1 of the best QBs in the league then so I'm not sure what your point even is.

Just say "Nah I don't think he'll hit a wall, he was a victim of circumstance and he'll have an MVP year in 2026"

Mahomes had 3 straight underwhelming reason because of Nagy.

I think people mostly overrate playcalling edge when something unexpected happens because it is just an easy way to explaining things

I really doubt a downgrade in playcalling had more to do with his lack of success than something as simple as having a GOAT TE turn into an above average TE for instance

if his playcalling was so bad and responsible for a guy going from averaging 8 yards a pass to 7 yards a pass, why did Andy Reid keep him so long? Is he some kind of idiot who can't see something so simple that even casual observers can see? Probably not.

I seriously doubt Mahomes has another season close to his peak.

That being said his peak was very, very good. Notwithstanding his injury I'm giving him at least 2 more playoff quality seasons before he packs it in.

IRT Raiders situation SRM has it right, Pete had no clue how to construct a winning org. Look at the Kelly hire for starters.

But they need to seriously upgrade their O line or its Jets 2.0.

Tough to say what the aging curve will be for this current generation but I do think Wilson, as someone who used his legs like a lot of these guys do, may be a better proxy than the Brady/Manning/Big Ben/Brees/Rodgers/Stafford crew.

Granted Wilson is like 5'11 and Mahomes is closer to 6'2 and better to begin with, but still I could see some of these guys hitting a wall fast over the next few years.

And for the record, I'd still take Mahomes next 4-5 years over any QB besides Allen. But margins are thin in the NFL and it is worth wondering what his future looks like. Hard to put all of his stagnation on circumstance when it is 3 straight years.

Agreed. His injury might shut him down 4 weeks into the season. But its getting a bit thin at the top of the QB ranks if Jordan Love is the top QB going forward.

Nobody and I mean nobody, wants to be Jets 2.0.

when you say 'objectively' what are you basing it on?

QBR in those 3 years,
Russ was 8th, 5th, 8th
Pat in those 3 years 8th 8th 6th

with Pat having higher QBR in two of the 3 seasons

wins pretty much the same
Approximate Value (IMO the most useful 'general' advanced stat)

Wilson those 3 years 14, 15, 17
Mahomes those 3 years 15, 14, 14

seems pretty line ball IMO?

bye bye reek

Just came to post, Hill getting released.

Those first two years in Miami were nuts, but the injury this year really put a dent in him climbing the all time leaderboards.

They also released Chubb and James Daniels.

Still trying to find a trade partner for Tua, but I think cutting him is still the most likely outcome.

Not much longer until the Malik Willis signing.

narrator: the Miami Dolphins were never able to find a trade partner for the damaged QB Tua Tagovailoa

I'm happy if I'm a Dolphins fan. Burn it all down.

There wasn't enough fuel there for that fire to burn for very long.

What is Miami o/u right now?
