Survivor: GENERAL THREAD
I wanted to post something Survivor related but realized there's no general thread about Survivor. Each thread is about
Both Traitors & Survivor ultimately prioritize managing your threat level. The fact that Ian/Rob/Natalie/Yam-Yam/Tiffany are known as "gamers" before the game starts isn't a knock against the game itself, it's a knock against casting returning players. Obviously we know Survivor has had the same problem.
What makes Traitors potentially more interesting than standard Mafia (where either "the entire village wins" or "all werewolves win" are the only two outcomes) is that only the remaining villagers or traitors can split the prizepool. So at a certain point in the midgame, if you're a villager you want to get out villagers who you think have a better chance to reach the endgame than you do. Ditto for the werewolf side. That's not the case in standard Mafia.
So hopefully NBC shells out for a season of unknowns. We haven't yet seen a "pure" game of Traitors just yet (I have no idea if the international versions are any good).

That's why I prefer the UK version. It's regular folks competing and the host is very good and not so over-the-top.
Are you kidding? At least Cumming is trying. The CBS shows need to take a hint
3hr premier. Brutal
Yeah, I'll probably have to push watching until this weekend. But I'm excited for the season to finally begin.
Also get yours pick in for Survivor Survivor.
Oh good 50 returning players and we get a continuation of last seasons flood of Savannah confessionals. **** off

Don't think she's got a long life expectancy based on the episode. No one knows anything about her except that she won last time, then she opened by beating Colby in a challenge. Not exactly managing her threat level.
Given that it was a 3 hr ep, I don't know about decorum for posting discussion, and I can't figure out spoiler tags in the new forum software, so I'll just say - last night's vote out made no sense to me.

What an epic premier. I loved every second of that episode. I am so into this season already
What a legendary Coach episode, was worried we wouldn't be getting prime Coach but we indeed appear to be getting PRIME Coach lol

Voting off Jenna, who is good at challenges and has no connections, over Cirie, who is bad at challenges, has connections, and is the most dangerous social player in the history of the game, was insanity.
Spoiler
Disagree 100%. Jenna was a loose cannon, playing too hard from the start.
History tells us that you can wait until alliances post merge are beginning to emerge to vote out Cirie who will never be a late game threat to win challenges.
Better to play a side game to her and wait things out and get her out at F7 or later. Her failure at throwing the monkey ball is a tribe error. In what reality do you give her that task.
great article!
Spoiler
Problem is twofold with your plan
Problem 1: with a challenge deadweight like her, you can easily become the disaster tribe that goes to Tribal for the first 4 episodes, so you're always scrambling to survive.
Problem 2: when alliances start to appear post merge, Cirie will be at the center of them because she's so good at the game. She finished 4th her first try, probably got screwed out of a win by a surprise F2, got betrayed and knocked out once early, and in her last season only got eliminated because of a deluge of idols meaning she was the only one eligible to go home. She'll never have that necklace on, but you may have a lot of trouble getting the necessary votes to get her out.
Jenna might have the necklace now and then, but there's no way she's going to build any kind of massive alliance that protects her.
Kinda funny that Hatch wasn’t invited to S40 due to the incident with Sue in S8 (at least, those were Jeff’s words at the time of casting S40).
But no problem casting Jenna in S50 who immediately after S8 parleyed what fame she had into distributing her sex tape.
Awesome premiere. Most of the 40-49 seasons weren't particularly special for me, and this already feels very good.
I don't think we need to use spoilers already. I think I'm with Punker, Jenna is an easy out down the road -- take your shot at Cirie now, won't be any easier.
I like to think the Jenna boot was for the fans. Absolute worst possible pick from season 1.
Coach stealing the key was awesome. And the alliances forming seem promising. Good start to the season.
Some of my cliff notes so far
-Jenna Lewis - Has early boot flame out written all over her
Nailed it.
I thought it was absolutely fantastic premier all the way through, Really was one for the superfans like myself.
Seeing the older mature versions of both Ozzy and Colby was the absolute highlight for me. Oh and Coach doing Coach things as always.
Only sour note is as usual production and ruining social strategy gameplay with forced losing votes
I was mildly disappointed in the cast when it was announced but watching that episode that really nailed the cast.
Coach as awesome as always getting butthurt about Izzy having no honor after screwing over Ozzy.
Most unexpected item... Mike coming in with a six pack
The Rick code-switch to southern dandy when he spoke to Cirie was strong
I love how Vannah says Suhvivor
