The "LOLCANADA" thread...again
So what's new?
I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet
oh wow Alberta has a 9.4 billion deficit - and that's with winning the geographical lottery and getting all those oil revenues pumping through the pipeline Trudeau built for them.
Danielle Smith is a fxxking idiot
This is because oil prices have dropped and social welfare has increased. Should Smith cut social welfare?
The main point is Canada's social welfare state as a whole is completely untenable. If Alberta doesn't want to be taxed into oblivion and stripped for its parts by Eastern Canadians increasingly aligned with the CCP, it needs to secede to the US.

No. Now **** off to the Israel thread or something.
Wow you want deranged
School Trustee fined $750,000. Of course they do not print what awful things he said . This is were when we let the government control speech you end up with these absurd fines
https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/british-c...
The BCTF is calling the decision a "huge win for 2SLGBTQIA+ rights."
Were gonna run out of letters soon 😀
Makar and Hughes on the same PP next Olympics will be scary.
Yikes. If you spend a bit of time reading through the actual ruling (which "of course" the CBC correctly linked to but lozen ignored), this is truly an awful, awful person. This isn't a random guy like lozen spewing stupid jokes about running out of letters on an internet forum. Instead, this was a years long, hateful campaign using his influence as a school trustee to directly and specifically target LGBT people. Absolutely horrid. Can you just imagine what it would be like working as an LGBT teacher at a school experiencing this filth? And not a word of condemnation from lozen.

It doesn't say what hate he spewed. I have heard he just kept saying there are only two genders which science acknowledges
Feel free to tell me other hateful things he said ? Let's be honest $750,000 is a joke this just looks like another Jordan Petterson or Jk Rowling case
Yikes. Lozen, pause your hatred long enough to read a post carefully. I just told you the CBC article linked to the decision. Read it. It exhaustively lists his many hateful, discriminatory actions he engaged in as a school trustee to make working as an LGBT teacher a horrible experience. I already told you this. You clearly didn’t read either the CBC article or my post carefully enough to realize all the evidence is laid out for you.

See what you call hatred I call common sense. When you have the government deciding what is hate speech you end up with silly decisions like this
I read the article and the link to the school board article as well .
Neufeld, in his release, said he has never opposed changes to the B.C. Human Rights Code and has never said anything contrary to the code.
"I have simply taken issue with ... the teaching of the controversial gender-fluid theory, as if it was fact, that gender is fluid, that there are more than two genders and that gender is not based in biology," he wrote.
But last October, Neufeld faced widespread criticism after he denounced members of B.C.'s education system in a Facebook post as "radical cultural nihilists" for their policies on gender rights and education.
Neufeld wrote that "letting little children choose to change gender is nothing short of child abuse."
Nothing hatred in any of these statements . Ive been clear you can believe in any ideology you want but that doesn't mean I have to. Now if you discriminate against a class than we have an issue
Are you incapable of following a basic conversation. You asked what he said. The decision in exhaustive detail elaborated on his systematic discrimination and hate speech. The link is right there. You don't have to just read the sanitized press release quote. And since you clearly haven't read it, how do you know it is silly or not? I genuinely want you to try to imagine being a LGBT student in the school for which he is a trustee and imagine the kind of environment that would create for you. Read it with that lens for a bit.
Now if you discriminate against a class than we have an issue
That is what the decision concluded he did.

No one has the right not to be offended .
Oh please your a student and someone refuses to use your pronouns boo hoo
Glad to see Mark Carney support Trump on the attack on Iran
Alberta may see a slight increase in oil prices

You clearly haven't read the decision. You keep making these "ponouns boo hoo" type comments that seem designed to minimize the targeted, repeated, pattern of workplace discrimination that the decision found. I don't really know why you are so stubbornly refusing to offer a shred of criticism of this guy and just want to characterize it as totally fine and anyone upset it's just boo hoo.

No I am critical of the decision . If your offended by what he says you vote him out . A $750,000 fine is a joke
Amazes me that you can not tell me what offensive hate speech he used and I read the article and the sub article
You didn't read the decision. The CBC linked it for you, I informed you of this, but you still didn't read it. That didn't stop you from acting like I can not tell you what hate speech he used. Buddy, the decision in exhaustive, exhaustive line by line detail quotes it. Despite your ignorance and refusal to educate yourself you are very confident with your dismissing and your minimizing and all of that.
Predictable.

Oh I am offended you called me ignorant someone should fine you
Reality is there is nothing hateful that is why you keep telling me to read the article which I did

I didn’t say read the article. I said read the decision. It explicitly quotes and analyzes in exhaustive detail precisely every statement and the context it was said.
You’ve concluded “nothing hateful” but this just makes you look like an idiot if you keep your head in the sand and refuse to read the actual decision. Like I can’t help you if you actively choose and desire to remain ignorant.
Lozen, do you believe we should repeal the BC Human Rights code?

Yes I read the Tribunal's decision and there are some examples of comments I do not agree with. Do they constitute hate speech? Maybe to you Yes but to others no . Do I find some of his comments offensive ? Yes
Yes I believe in the BC Human Rights Code bit it should not protect you from being offended. He himself could not fire, hire r promote anyone If he had refused to hire a trans teacher or fired one than we have a human rights case.
He was duly elected to that position and if folks didn't like his stance on the LGB community or the Qt2s+A community than they should have elected someone else. A $750,000 fine is ridiculous your literally bankrupted the man
Now that you have - FINALLY - read it, do you still believe he said "nothing hateful"? You now acknowledge at least his comments were offensive. Although, to be fair, the tribunal is focusing more on whether he created a discriminatory environment for LGBT teachers at schools than whether his comments were "offensive" or not.
One of the reason that the fine got large was because of how that discriminatory environment affected a lot of class members. The amount per class member is quite low.
I find this "should have elected someone else" bit pretty pathetic. Like this doesn't grant you immunity for your actions to those you have power over. If he was elected and then was say discriminatory against black people or women, you wouldn't say "should have elected someone else" and this just sets away the criticism. Particularly since people may not have grasped the full degree of his hatred and culture warrior attacks against LGBT people be when they elected him.

Were not talking about discrimination as he had no power to hire, fire or appoint individuals.
It doesn't detail clearly everything he said or published so it's difficult to pinpoint anything hateful feel free to point out the hateful items
Hey if they wanted to remove him and there was a procedure for this all the power . My biggest beef is the fine
On a lighter note looks like Alberta will get a boost in revenue Monday
Were not talking about discrimination as he had no power to hire, fire or appoint individuals.
This is an odd take. Is your view that the only possible type of discrimination someone could experience in a workplace is by people who can fire them? The decision specifically talks about this, so it doesn't sound like you read it.
It doesn't detail clearly everything he said or published so it's difficult to pinpoint anything hateful feel free to point out the hateful items
Oh ok, so you clearly didn't read the decision in that case. It is hard to imagine something being more clearly and exhaustively detailed with many, many, many things specifically pinpointed.
I think what happened here is after many posts ignorantly refusing to click the link to the decision you finally clicked it, skimmed for 30 seconds, and now think you are able to talk about it coherently. You aren't. You are just revealing your ignorance.
