President Donald Trump
I assume it's still acceptable to have a Trump thread in a Politics forum?
So this is an obvious lie - basically aimed at
I dont know what the internet being blacked out has to do with an unrealistic death toll. Iran has been explicit in why they turned off the internet. that made it easier to put down an uprising that American and Israeli officials admitted to leading.
but no, I dont think that 20k people were killed in a few days with light weaponry. we saw how long it took to get 20k deaths during the Gaza extermination project with every weapon available including 2k pound bombs leveling every building.
scale victor, scale, iran is multitudes in size compared to gaza
it is also funny how much you guys fought tooth and nail over the Gaza death toll and required meticulous oversight. but now its like, yep, some Iranian diaspora propaganda outlet said so. must be true!
Victor has a valid point wrt the number of citizens killed. How would WE know what the actual bodycount is?
Bolded is about where I am as well. If I had to guess, I would say that U.S. continues to bomb for the next 4-6 weeks until Trump claims that the campaign has been a success because the U.S. has successfully weakened the Iranian military and tilled the soil for an overthrow of the theocracy. Then a highly unstable situation will play out internally in Iran over a period of mo
I think we have reason to be more optimistic about democratic reform happening in Iran than precedent allows because a lot of Iranians knew what it was like before. So I think they're going to fight for it and we can provide enough assets to level the playing field against a severely crippled regime.
As usual when Iran is in a bad mood, oil and gas prices are soaring, putting pressure on Western economies, because of fears about the Strait of Hormuz. You do wonder what the US Navy, with a budget bigger than many countries, is actually for if it can't guarantee and enforce freedom of navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. I appreciate that the President has made destruction of Iran's navy a priority, at least in words, but it'll take more work to stop Iran playing this chokehold every time, like they have for nearly half a century despite minimal sea power.

Love how you take a veiled dig at the Iranian people for uprising against a repressive theocratic regime as part of your one note AmeriKKKa/Israel Baaaad! schtick.

At Babi Yar in Ukraine the Nazis killed 33,000 Jews in two days (29-30 September 1941), just with small arms.
And remember, chezlaw has βno problem with Victorβ. lol

I mean, what do you think would happen in the USA or Israel if a large group of people took money and weaponry from Russia and started killing police and peaceful people and burning down synagogues?
you are an ignorant fool if you think they just starting mowing down peaceful protesters.

If a dictator doesn't like what you're protesting, not sure how much it matters if it's 'peaceful' or not.

I would assume they could fire short range missiles from almost anywhere making it tough to defend

It has been more than 45 years since Iran had a government that was more pro-Western. And Iran effectively has no experience with democratic government. The Iranian government under the Shah was more pro-Western, of course, but it wasn't a democracy. It was an authoritarian monarchy.
Ya no idea what ‘a lot of Iranians knew what it was like before.’ is supposed to mean considering most of the protestors weren’t alive for the revolution and also, as roco pointed out, a monarchy isn’t a democracy just cuz it was pro western

And you're a contemptible pos for your quasi justification of Iran's mass murder of its own people.

The difference is that there is a moral difference between rebelling against a democracy and a totalitarian dictatorship. Also saying they were killing police and burning down mosques is LOL since if they were doing that Iran would have released videos of it in a heartbeat instead of shutting down the internet so people couldnβt see them mowing down protestors.
You are actually evil I think.

Which is about a million Palestinians short of how many they could have killed if extermination was the objective. Thatβs because they werenβt trying to exterminate them. You have no idea what a modern military is capable of under a βkill them allβ mandate with a concentrated unarmed civilian population. In Iran, they were using light armor and small arms against dense clusters of thousands of presumably unarmed protesters. A small force could inflict massive casualties quickly.
Whether the death toll was that high idk. But I think it's safe to assume it's above the 3k Iran claims. Which is more than enough to qualify as a slaughter.
Also saying they were killing police and burning down mosques is LOL since if they were doing that Iran would have released videos
they are tons of videos of it. like where have you been?
instead of shutting down the internet so people couldn’t see them mowing down protestors.
right, where are the videos of Iran killing 30k people? you can still take a video without the internet and post it later.
they shut down the internet bc foreign agents were using it to orchestrate a violent uprising.
Let me guess, you know what actually happened and it just so happens to be that anyone who opposes the βSupreme Leaderβ of Iran was a violent traitor? Just like all the Polish people Stalin killed were fascists?
Like I said, youβre an actually evil person.
In the modern world, we crave immediate verdicts on everything, including military action. But in cases where the long term-goal is some vague notion of durable regime change, the final assessment of whether the goal has been achieved doesn't come in for years or at least many months after the most intense military action because it takes a while for the new political reality
This but not just this. The geopolitical repercussions are even harder to assess. People tend to consider just the narrow area affected but the geopolitical impact can be massive. It was pretty obvious imo that the Iraq war would have an awful geopolitical impact. This is much harder to assess imo but I'm not hopeful on this either.

no I dont know exactly what happened but I know a lot more than you.
regardless, your people are razing neighborhoods, bombing schools, bombing police station, and bombing hospitals all over Iran right now. so save the crocodile tears. when this is all over the Ameri-Israeli Empire will kill tons more anti-government Iranians than Iran is alleged to have killed during the recent uprising.
