The "LOLCANADA" thread...again
So what's new?
I've noticed the Liberals are now ahead in all major polls and Trudeau hasn't even started to campaign yet
Classic UKE response. As if hospitality jobs and entry level jobs in other branches haven't been taken by immigrants too. Naah clearly I was talking about picking grapes on wineries.
I didn't say you were talking about any particular industry. The point is you make these broad sweeping points, but a lot of the focus of the TFW program is all of these industries that really really struggle to get Canadian labour and to which most youth are just not going to want to do. But sure if you want to add being a room cleaner in hotels to the list of things I'm guessing you probably don't have as a huge ambition for your child to launch their career in, add it to the list. I'm all for giving our youth a chance, which is why I support that the TFW program has a number of explicit restrictions to make it Canadian first. Maybe they should be even more strengthed beyond the recent strengthening, I don't know, but the simple lesson is this: A pretty huge swath of the jobs done by TFW are not the type you'd expect to displace youth - and indeed a couple years ago during the labour supply crunch it wasn't the case the youth employment could replace all the industries struggling to attract talent.
If that makes you feel better we'll pretend the majority of Canadians who saw the social fabric of this country change rapidly because of mass immigration are all wrong.
Lmao social fabric changing? WTF does this even mean, are you just still mad about the time you got served by an Indian at the Tim Hortons? The social fabric is fine. The case that the Liberals overcorrected when responding to widespread demands for increased labour supply is not that the "social fabric" changed, it's that it was hard to keep up with some things like particularly low-end housing and social surfaces given the pressure of a lot of people in a short period of time.
88.5% of woman under 30 in Canada don't have kids. Yes, adults should be doing a better job explaining to young girls the risks associated with pregnancies as they age.
Lol. That there is risks associated with late 30s pregnancies is not some unknown secret only known to the alt-right manosphere online. Everyone knows this. Go ahead and try to mansplain it to women in their 20s that this risk exists and you will quickly find out they already ****ing know it. So no, I don't think you've stumbled on the solution to declining fertility rates in basically every developed country.
Just use the same method you use when you are screaming at people about climate change or when you think a trans kid is being mistreated.
As much as I would be totally happy if you did try the method of using facts and logic building on strong moral values, I somehow think just telling women they should have more kids is going to be "super simple" solution to the problem you think it is.
still gonna blame the liberal women tho Its generally women who choose not to have kids .
I definitely think you should blame the women. Because totally those young men in their 20s are absolutely clamouring to start having kids if only the women would agree to do it. Bad bad women! Also didn't Shifty just tell us that 88% of women under 30 don't have kids? Something tells me we can't just blame the liberals.

We've had this exact discussion before and I genuinely cba having it again. Back then I agreed with you that the issue is NOT the grape pickers who return home after the season. I live near wineries my dude, I see them every summer and when the summer is over, they do something a lot of other TEMPORARY visa holders refuse to do. They LEAVE.
I'm also not entirely sure why we're just talking TFW? Dunno if I mentioned it and that's why but the entire immigration system is an issue. LMIA's still being approved for far too many chains. International students being allowed to work when our own students can NOT find jobs.
The point quite clearly is immigrants taking entry level jobs that used to be taken by our youth and elderly. There isn't a single CANADIAN BORN employee in grocery stores and fast food joints in my area. I know you'll deny this, which is laughable because you're not from here, but literally nobody denies these facts anymore but apparently you.

There should be exactly ZERO Indians working at Tim Hortons unless they're born here, which would make them Canadian. Tim Hortons is not in an industry that is struggling for workers. I could open my own cafe tomorrow and have 2000 resumes before lunch time.
I definitely think you should blame the women. Because totally those young men in their 20s are absolutely clamouring to start having kids if only the women would agree to do it. Bad bad women! No, we should blame the government for spending decades making Canadian life more and more unaffordable. We should blame the government for brainwashing the Uke's of the world into believing that the solution for not having enough babies because we can't afford them is to bring in 4 million immigrants over 4 years, who also get pathways to PR, as if that wouldn't add to our already ****ed up affordability crisis creating this never ending loop.
Lol. That there is risks associated with late 30s pregnancies is not some unknown secret only known to the alt-right manosphere online. Everyone knows this. Go ahead and try to mansplain it to women in their 20s that this risk exists and you will quickly find out they already ****ing know it.
Do they?

Most Gen Z women want children, report concern about fertility: Of the women surveyed, 74% reported wanting children, yet 59% felt uninformed about their reproductive health, and 69% reported varying levels of concern toward their future fertility.
As much as I would be totally happy if you did try the method of using facts and logic building on strong moral values, I somehow think just telling women they should have more kids is going to be "super simple" solution to the problem you think it is.
Ya, telling people mostly women it's important to have more children to solve population collapse is not super simple.
A major 2025 NBC News poll of Gen Z adults (ages 18–29) asked respondents to select top markers of personal success from a list. For Gen Z women (especially those who supported Kamala Harris in 2024), the top priorities were:A fulfilling job/career (around 51% for Harris-voting women).
Having enough money to do what you want.
Financial independence or emotional stability.
Having children and marriage ranked near the bottom (e.g., only ~6% of female Harris voters selected having children as important to success; similar low rankings overall for women). In contrast, some Gen Z men (especially Trump voters) ranked having children much higher (up to 34%).This poll highlighted a stark gender divide: young women lean toward independence and career, while many young men emphasize family. It's been widely discussed as a "role reversal" from traditional norms.
Ya, telling people mostly women it's important to have more children to solve population collapse is not super simple.
You go girl! And while you're lecturing the women on why they should have more babies, I totally think dropping in chatgpt quotes that don't refute anything I said will be SUPER helpful.
Because I totally agree, the problem with declining fertility rates in most developed countries absolutely those horrible liberal women and if only you told them that they are going to miscarry in their late 30s we can totally turn this ship around!
LMAO.
I guess the social fabrics fine if you want Canada to become India with immigration + the worst birth rate outside of korea. It wouldn't even take that long. Ive never been super committed one way or the other if I care about declining birth rate. My old idealist self always thought less was better. but modern geopolitical theory is expand or die.
Its definitely the women tho. Men in their 20's don't have to have kids biologically women do. You know women in their 20's can and do date men in their 30's and 40's right? Blaming them is kind of a meme because its not each individuals fault and they are just playing the cards they are given. The problem is they over corrected . blaming men in their 20's when women barely date them is kind of funny tho.
Declining birthrates are super complicated with so many reasons im not actually only blaming the WOMENS its kind of a meme. just definitely not the 20 year old men lol.
The Natalism people are maybe based. conservatives have more kids then liberals. maybe they will out bred them XD
I live near wineries my dude, I see them every summer and when the summer is over, they do something a lot of other TEMPORARY visa holders refuse to do. They LEAVE.
That sounds like it's working great - well done TFW program! I think you have it backwards: most TFW do leave after their visa expires. In 2025, the expectation was that nearly 5 MILLION temporary workers would voluntarily leave.
I'm also not entirely sure why we're just talking TFW? Dunno if I mentioned it and that's why but the entire immigration system is an issue. LMIA's still being approved for far too many chains.
This is weird. You know that LMIAs are part of the approval process to the TFW program and primarily used for the TFW program - right? That's a weird segue from telling it isn't just the TFW program but the entire immigration system, then launch a complaint primarily affecting the TFW program.
Since you seem quite ignorant, let quote for you:
A positive LMIA confirms that
1) no Canadians or permanent residents are available to do the job
2) there is a need for a temporary foreign worker
Building in a protection against temporary foreign jobs taking canadian jobs is literally built directly into the approvals process. You can quibble on the margins that maybe this process is insufficiently rigorous in its vetting or something of this nature and maybe so, but that doesn't get you to your millions of deportations needed claim.
International students being allowed to work when our own students can NOT find jobs.
This one is really weird to me. I think international students are a pretty awesome economic export for Canada - they come with massive tuition vastly higher than domestic students, they become highly educated and then either go back to their own countries or apply for visa's here in Canada to leverage their expertise. This is great. The amount of work they can do is limited - it is just 24 hours a week, and this is while maintaining full time status at a university. Of all the places for restricting immigration, I find this the least logical.
There should be exactly ZERO Indians working at Tim Hortons unless they're born here
DRINK!! DRINK!! DRINK!! DRINK!!
95% of TIm Horton's employees are not TFW.
Tim Hortons is not in an industry that is struggling for workers. I could open my own cafe tomorrow and have 2000 resumes before lunch time. .
Is this really true? Restaurants have 78,000 unfilled job openings: https://www.cbc.ca/radio/costofliving/sk.... I don't know about your town, but there are many places in the country where there is labour shortages. In high unemployment regions you can't even do TFW but in low unemployment regions absolutely belivable you don't find 2000 resumes by.....ever let alone lunch.

ya because its the people breaking the rules who left their tfw job or college program after it expired and its all they could get

Ive never been super committed one way or the other if I care about declining birth rate. My old idealist self always thought less was better. but modern geopolitical theory is expand or die.
The expand or die mindset is a classic Solow Growth Trap. Western economies went into panic mode over declining fertility and opened up immigration to keep their total GDP from shrinking, but if you only grow by adding more people (Extensive Growth), you’re just diluting housing and infrastructure across a larger population. Everyone gets a smaller slice of the pie. Sound familar?
Then along came AI.
High-skill economies don't use innovation (Romer Model) as a force multiplier. Instead of trying to 'out-populate' the problem - which keeps you stuck in a Low-Skill Equilibrium - the move is to automate. AI allows a shrinking or aging population to stay wealthy by increasing output per person' rather than just 'number of people.

Lol at “expected to leave”.
I dont care what you find logical or not. International students who come here should not be allowed to work if our own youth can not find work. This isn’t complicated or controversial. Canadians first, everyone else second.

We should all care because apparently the solution to all of this is to turn Canada into India 2.0. It’s already happening where I’m from. You walk around the GTA you’d think you were in Mumbai and unlike us Canadians, the Indians will breed like crazy.
You go girl! And while you're lecturing the women on why they should have more babies, I totally think dropping in chatgpt quotes that don't refute anything I said will be SUPER helpful.
Who's lecturing? You brought up declining population being a problem. Why do you think 88% of Canadian women under 30 don't have kids?

DRINK! DRINK! DRINK!
This really is what it comes down to, isn’t it? What consistently happens is you abandon all of the actual detailed points and facts, and it just ends up at generic animus against Indians in Canada serving you coffee at tim hortons. That’s the core. The bad rationalizations about LMIA are discardable.

You are. You told us it was super simple, just tell women to have more babies and mansplain that fertility declines to them. It was a hilariously stupid response.
Lol at “expected to leave”.

Yes, expected. The overwhelming majority of temporary workers are expected to leave, just as you claim was true in your local area. You seem to be expecting something different from what the experts expect.
It’s hard to argue with you as you are basically deontological here. Explaining how international students are a huge benefit to Canada bringing in a huge amount of tuition dollars that lowers costs for domestic students, and the create high knowledge workers for Canada’s economy and to expand connections globally isn’t going to work. If you see an Indian working at Tim hortons, that by itself is enough of an argument against it in your mind.

I mean they're both problems aren't they? Bringing in far too many immigrants and the majority of them being from 1 country and more specifically 1 region. If you think I have a problem with too many immigrants ONLY because they're Indian, then no, you're wrong.

It isn't going to work because it's not the point. At all. I'm all for international students who come here to STUDY and then GO BACK HOME, their money is more than welcome. I'm all for the smartest of people to come here and become doctors and nurses we very much need. What I am not for is international students who come here, apply to some bs degree, work 24 hours or more(yes this happens) outside of campus and take jobs from OUR youth and elderly.
Respectfully, if you actually think I'm arguing against bringing in doctors and nurses, you've genuinely lost the plot.

It is super simple! You are scared to even offer an explanation for why 88% of women under 30 don't have kids.
Women are the ones that grow babies and give birth, they know their cycles and are the ones that decide if sex happens or not. Empowering them with the responsibility of Western civilization population survival is hardly "mansplaining" or whatever, it's actually the opposite.

I thought men could have babies ? 😀
I blame Trudeau for it all

There's a very good explanation for it and it's super simple: they didn't want to have as many babies sans a male dominated or condition dependant culture. And the evidence is overwhelming when we look at how fertility rates plummet with immigrant women who come from such cultures and now feel free to choose along with the means to support themselves without men.

Immigrant women have more children than Canadian born women though. So your argument is women just never had a choice until the last generation and now they hate men?

No. I think they hated being told who they were going to marry or having to choose from the leftovers they werent attracted to because they couldn't support themselves, along with all the social / religous stigma for being single and not pumping out babies.

So women in the 70's and 80's couldn't support themselves and were told who to marry, and now there so many high paying jobs they can support themselves?
I'll give you the social/religious stigma, but I don't think that accounts for 88% of women deciding not to have kids. I am in my 40's and anecdonally anyone I know around my age that doesn't have kids is incredibly bored, alcoholic and/or miserable.

Approximately 33% to 42% of high-achieving career women and corporate executives aged 41–55 are childless, according to data highlighted in the Harvard Business Review
