NBA 2025-26 Season Thread: THE NY KNICKS ARE CHAMPIONS! BING BONG!
Lettuce NBA!
and lettuce lol @ James Harden
You have to take Top 4. I'd consider Top 3.
Not including wager, DK is giving me 8.626% of winnings payout on my 45-1 Spurs title wager for Cash Out.
Spurs are +550 to title on DK currently.
Me too. Only modern comp is Duncan. Jeter & Brady. Sid Crosby
Edit: And Duncan came close t pair up with Hill in Orlando.
I was only thinking about basketball, but Jeter was similar. The difference is that Curry is a much better basketball player than Jeter was a baseball player.
By the middle of his career, Brady always felt like a planet that other teammates admired from a respectful distance--more Jordan/Kobe/Bird/Kareem than Curry. Mahomes or Montana/Rice are probably better football comps for Curry.
Duncan, Joker, and Dirk are potential basketball comps, but Magic is probably the most similar, mainly because both were relentlessly positive and both changed the way the game was played.
If you had told Joker or Duncan in their rookie years that they would never have to do a press conference, interview, or team event, I think they would have been thrilled.
I said two months ago that Knueppel already looked like prime Klay on offense. I think he is the most dangerous shooter to come into the league in the last decade.
I haven't studied his defense enough to say how he measures against prime Klay in that respect.

That's $388.17 on a $100 wager. Unless I did my back of the envelope math wrong, if Wemby stays healthy, even if the Spurs drew the chalkiest possible playoff opponents, you definitely could hedge all four rounds and lock in a return of at least $388 for less than $3,700.
If something weird happened (e.g., SGA gets hurt and OKC gets bounced in the conference semis), it could cost a lot less. If Wemby sustained a serious injury before or during the playoffs, it could cost more. Call those scenarios a wash.
I think you would have to be an idiot to take this offer.
That’s what I was thinking of.
Sigh
So Wemby, Doncic, and Cade will all fall short of the 65 games.
But the race IMO was always just Jokic and SGA. Wemby at 29 minutes per game and just the minimum games I just couldn't agree with him as MVP.
He left today's game with an injury, and only played 16 minutes (so it doesn't count anyways I think)
Because he played in the play in final, he actually only needed 64 games. I believe to make it he would need to play all the remaining games now (I believe at 20 mins+), and that looks unlikely.
And, just like Doncic, Wemby took the play that caused the injury, kept playing, and then had to leave the game. Not sure why NBA coaches are so reluctant to be cautious.
I believe you but don’t understand why he’s still a massive favorite for DPOY then
He needs 1 more 20 minute game.
If his injury is just a bruise, he'll do it.
Wemby only has to play 20 minutes in 1 game to qualify.
slow pony.
and that’s for both mvp/dpoy right?
that’s more aligned with what I was thinking the discourse made it seemed like wemby dpoy/mvp was already dead

From ESPN : "Wembanyama played 15 minutes, 40 seconds, which will count toward eligibility for postseason awards, as players are granted two exceptions to the requirement of playing 20 minutes in a game as long as they play at least 15 minutes."
68 players have already cleared the 2000min milestone. Wemby isn't one of them
Feels like a fair threshold to hold people accountable to and avoid all this nonsense of exceptions
might as well just sort by win shares to shut up the crybabys
1. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander • OKC 15.0
2. Nikola Jokić • DEN 14.4
3. Jalen Duren • DET 10.5
4. Kevin Durant • HOU 10.1
5. Victor Wembanyama • SAS 9.7
there you go, sga wins again (probably)
wemby should be dpoy tho
