What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

95(47/48) ugh. Driver right all day. Got into trouble on several holes. Made some really good shots as well. Birdie and 4 pars. Putted well. Just my usual schizophrenic round.

Leave in 13 days for a golf trip with 7 rounds in four days plus a short course round!

Apr 23 - Quicksands
Apr 24 - Gamble Sands & Scarecrow
Apr 25 - Scarecrow & Gamble Sands
Apr 26 - Couer d'Alene Resort Course
Apr 27 - Circling Raven (36 holes)

Have never played golf in Washington or Idaho, so adding 2 states to the list. Excite!

-1 thru 9 holes today was -2 hit a bad wedge shot on 8 which caused a bogey. Actually got to a green in 2 on a Par 5 which is unlike me.

Think I’m hitting the ball the best I’ve ever hit it right now, Trophy event tomorrow so feeling kind of confident if I can play the way I’ve been playing this week. The only thing is the greens are in a very bad state like the worst I’ve ever seen them.

I don't think I've posted in here in a while. It's been pretty bleak for the most part.

but I've come here for a brag 😃

Played a friendly 9 hole match today. Had to give 1 shot won 3&1, Whilst shooting -4. 4 Birdies and 5 pars.

It's been at least a year I think since I've played like that.

please share tips on the trip after you return
most people i know in oregon have given up on bandon and are looking for other destinations. makes sense to follow DMK up to the bald top of washington

sure will!

and seems like if you live in Oregon, Bandon is still easy enough. Tee times are obtainable, just trying to book on-site lodging or large groups is tough. I'm thinking about trying to just brute force a 4-man trip January 2028 if I don't get a lotto spot.

For sure, can do a solo or duo trip pretty easily.

no doubt there are plenty of spots as a single
not just at bandon, but almost anywhere
people tap out all the time somewhere in the middle of epic golf trips for a variety of reasons
the property almost always interested in receiving any sort of green fee when it can fit in the till box

94(49/45) driver went right, irons went left. Rinse, repeat.

Putter sucked, missed two very makeable birdie putts and several others within 10'

One good thing happened today. I was behind two trees about 130 from the pin. Both trees had overhanging branches so any full swing club was out of the question. Normally if I have to punch out i pull my 4 iron and hope for the best. But I really didn't think it was a great idea here because of the difficulty of keeping the ball really low and getting any distance. My father-in-law told me to try a 3 wood with the ball at my back feet. Worked like a charm. Ended up about 25 feet from the hole. Happy to add that to my repertoire.

Played well on front shooting level par missing 3 five footers for birdies …. Then the back 9 happened and just completely lost my swing. Ended up +7 on the back. Greens were terrible but even though wouldn’t have helped me pushing every putt. Wasn’t the best of conditions weather wise, cold gusty winds.

It is what it is we move on.

92(44/48) putting was a little off. Several missed opportunities. First time I've had a round with nothing worse than double bogey. Just couldn't get those pars. One of my lower rounds so pretty happy.

1 birdie, no doubles. I was in pretty good shape off the tee all day but my irons weren't great and chipping was mediocre, at best. Four 3-putts, though three of them were from outside 50' after poor approach shots. Two of those were from over 200 yards out so I can't be mad at that, but the one from 75 yards that left me with an almost impossible 2-putt was frustrating. I probably had five birdie putts shorter than the one I made, just couldn't get any of them to fall. Even though I was never in real trouble off the tee I felt like I was scrambling all day because of so many missed greens or other approach shots that were so far from the flag they might as well have been missed greens. If I replayed the round and hit all my second shots from where I was hitting them from yesterday I'm pretty sure I'd be several strokes lower. Such is life for a weekend hacker.

Shot 90 today from 6300y on a 71.8/135 course that was wet and cart path only. Made one triple bc I didn’t have the right club with me and was 70 yards from the cart.

Lots of great holes and shots tho, culminating in this shot knowing I needed 4 for 89. Wind off the right and absolutely smashed a 3wood through it over the water, was 186 to cover.

Also had 28 putts, have 117 in my last 4 rounds combined, fun.

Aces - wonder how many three putts?
ec_ - you now annoy me even more congrats?

I don't know what to do with that. Thank you??

as do every other player that makes it look easy with such solid results
congrats on playing in a seemingly effortless way i hope to experience some day

Over those 4 rounds, 29 one-putts, 4 three-putts, one hole out.

getting better!
remember when those were the bane of your existence

89(47/42) Second sub 90 round. Woot. That with a blow up quadruple bogey on hole 7. 3 putted once. Overall I feel like I'm getting incrementally better at everything. Hope I can keep that up.

93(46/47) I don't think I could have swung a club worse. Driver right all day, 3 wood left. Long irons mishit. I guess that means my short game is getting better because 6 months ago this would have been a 110.

so fun reading about your ups and downs in the bigger boasting golf diary bb

strongly urge with the utmost gentle capturing of continuious grip pressure allowing good and poor as common entries into your mental shag bag may help you become more predictably numb about your next walking direction
on this poker site you must understand how fickle risk reward odds and variance is always displayed in our daily lives let alone that stupid hit and go find where it landed in the pasture game

One birdie, a few doubles. Nothing was consistently good and I was scrambling all day. If not for a few nice up and downs things could've been real ugly.

if these were intentional plays that got the results and not some flukey thing, then that is meaningful. hope you don't dismiss it too quick

Ugh, really bad round. Didn't do much right. 103(52/51) I thought I might say goodbye to the 100s but I guess not.

never expect anything associated with golf to be linear
