LVL Regs WSOP planning & meet up thread

@Mods....if you agree, maybe this might go in the stickys?

Both to manage (and potentially add to) my growing excitement

my biggest bankroll leak is MTTs and that's fine, because my entire strategy is based around 're-investing' my cash game winnings into MTT shots. I never have and never will dip into non poker money. so I want to at least make sure I'm playing the weakest fields. the big Seniors fields are way way softer than even the Milly, Monster etc. you still have to run incredibly pure

I've only played a couple Seniors bracelet events. I cannot for the life of me, figure out what those guys are thinking. They're either super-nits that won't call a pre-flop raise with hands as weak as AQ, or call with almost any two. The problem is when you think they're in nit mode when they're actually in donkey mode, or vice versa.

Daily Deepstack senior style was more normal in my experience, I cashed in at least 1 of those.

Booked my flight. May 31st - July 13th.

Looking forward to seeing some old faces and meeting some new ones.

that's a long time - are you renting a house/room or skipping between resorts?

any chance you can get your family up there?

If you're searching for Milestone satties, check the next upcoming bracelet events. Chances are the payoff for the satellite matches the entry fee for the upcoming bracelet event.

thanks for the info.

it looks like there's a daily 3pm $240 satellite and then a $585 at 7pm. 20% rake though - I'm at a seat every 5.5 entries over my satty 'career' of about 120 satty entries, so this is marginally -EV although lol sample size Can't guarantee I won't play the $240 though!

And then a nightly $135 at 10pm which....if it's 1 in 10 has 35% rake! no one can beat that

there's a special $585 satty for the Senior's 5k event at 7pm on 11th June which I will consider

You're typically not going to get a good structure in a satellite anywhere, but I do find it ironic that so many WSOP events are slow and deep, while the satties are the polar opposite. They're just marginally above a pure flip. Even the $1ks don't give you any real breathing room.

I haven’t checked - how deep is but in and what time length are levels?

The $1100s running July 1-6 that are effectively Main Event satellites give you 15k chips.

20 minute levels for the first two hours. Then it switches to 30 minute levels, which I suppose is quite good for a satty.

Slightly less terrible than I remembered, but even so you are on 20 BB after 2 hours if you don't chip up.

Lose a hand or two and you are in push-fold mode very early.

Very luck-based considering the prestige of the Main and the 2 hour levels of that tournament.

thanks - tbh to my eyes, that all seems absolutely fine. if 15k chips is 150bb I think that is prolly too much, if it's 75bb then it's tight but still ok

IMO satellites don't really start til ave stack is under 20 bb. I'd probably reg at around 20-30bb unless I was convinced that there were tons of droolers gifting chips

When I was cashing out my ticket last year, there was another guy in line cashing out his $500 (maybe $585) win. 5 grand cash! I could play a couple bracelet events and have a few thousand left over.

the big Seniors fields are way way softer than even the Milly, Monster etc. you still have to run incredibly pure, but it's a slightly less idiotic way of playing the lottery

I have a feeling you are a "younger" senior ie. 50's and I agree senior fields are likely softer but the guys in their mid 20's from the beginning of the poker boom now are young seniors. Being an "old" senior I kinda like using my OMC looking image to surprise the young guns since I am not a tight old rock and actually have a few moves. They don't always work though πŸ˜€

awesome! would be great to say hi and put a face to a name. and yep, the reason I think I've survived as a winning poker player over the past 15 years comes down to a lack of bankroll leaks, never playing drunk, high etc and totally turning off my ego when it comes to game selection - I will play 1/2 or 5/10-20 if I think I have an edge but also stand up and quit those games

Respekt

I'll start this as an index. Not sure if possible, but it would be great to get it in the OP so it's easiest to add others to it when they confirm ates

Feel Wrath: 10-19 June Horseshoe
TJ Eckleburg: 4-23 June
DogFace: 14-22 June
rpPoker: 4-16 June
droopy0021: 14-20 June
Mr Baseball:8/9-24/25 June

I’ll be there starting 6/4 through the main - which I am playing for the first time since I won a seat at Foxwoods yesterday! I would love to get something on the calendar this year.

I just saw this post after it was quoted. I added it to the OP. Whenever you want to update or edit it you should probably send me a PM. I'm not really following this thread and may never see a post asking me to do something. If anyone else wants their dates added to the OP, also send me a PM.

Ok great, thanks Mark. I’ll send you a message every few weeks and we can update it with everyone’s plans

Hell yeah! Good luck! I will commit right now to being on the brianr rail if you make the final table.

Thanks guys def excited!

As it looks like I’m not playing the Main Event this year,

Brian, I’d happily buy a small piece of your Main, if you’re selling. For the sweat!!

Thanks buddy appreciate the support, but the one year I sold action I didn’t like the added element of playing with other people’s cash. If I hadn’t sattied in it may have been a different story as July approached, but now not going to go down that route.

I've sent an updated summary of current dates to Mark the Mod extraordinaire!

closer to the time we can add where we're all staying - guessing Tony and brian at least will be staying off strip given length of stays? and i know TJ will be airbnb ing it too

Yep, I have a studio in the Arts District.

Walking distance to the best Italian place in Las Vegas, Esther’s Kitchen!

Open standing invitation to meet anybody for lunch or dinner there, as my tourney schedule allows!

Been hoping to try that place. Heard good things, but haven't passed through downtown on any recent LV trips.

If I play anything at Nugget this summer (looking likely), I intend to try it.

I'll be in Vegas with my wife June 12-14 going to the As games in Saturday night and Sunday afternoon. Then Sharon flies home - would love to meet-up on Sunday night, June 14th.

I'll be playing WSOP Seniors June 15 & 16 (and hopefully 18-19). Also looking at the Venetian bounty $800 on Monday the 15th and various bust-out options for Wednesday and Thursday, inlcuding the 9:00 a.m. Seniors @ Horseshoe on Thursday the 18th.

Would love to meet up along the way -- maybe after we all bag chips after Day 2A on Tuesday night!

I'm trying decide whether to play the WSOP Seniors event June 15th. I would plan to be there 6/14-6/18.

I played it for the first time last year. I entered twice and min-cashed. Really long days of poker!

I was in Vegas just this past February, and played a bunch. Based on my last two trips, I tend to play way too many hours when I am in Vegas and my brain feels trashed afterwards.

It would be good to meet up with some people to draw me away from the poker tables!
