I don’t think any of us were actually Trump voters and maybe except Elway none of us actually support a full scale invasion which unsurprisingly hasn’t happened and doesn’t seem to be happening. Sorry if I’m misrepresenting someone’s pov.I’m also struggling to understand the people who simultaneously think Israel controls the world and the world is going to allow Iran to hold

I don’t want to see a full scale invasion. It’s not gonna happen. The blockade has put Iran in a really bad position. If they have to cap some oil wells during this time from not being able to do business it will be a disaster for them. The Iranians are trying to hold on until the US midterms. They are hoping political pressure will end this war. It’s unlikely the Iranians will be able to last that long. Contrary to MSM the US is in a really good position right now.

My friend Achmed in Iran says the people are getting ready to rise up. He said armed anti regime soldiers are now out in the streets fighting the IRGC. He said because of the media blackout there is a massive delay in information getting to the people. It took 6 months after Midnight Hammer for the people to realize how weak the regime had become. Now the regime is significantl

Well I guess it's good thing we didn't "go big" and nuke 'em.

by Elway m

My friend Achmed in Iran

while not impossible, it's highly improbable an iranian would have that name and not a localized iranian version of it

i was strongly leaning to the probability of you having a friend in iran... and one you're in regular contact with despite internet blockages as close to zero to begin with anyway

Lars and Achmed are buddies

Ya I’m glad we didn’t. I like the Iranian people even though they are probably brainwashed right now. That was over the top regarding using the nukes.

Oh sure you are.

I hope the President follows through with his threat to bomb Iran into the Stone Age. The Japanese quickly realized the US wasn’t playing at the end of WW2. They were nutty people similar to these jihadists. Maybe not as nutty. If they know massive force is going to kill them all they will capitulate. If the President does not follow through then I’m done with him. I allow for

I talked to a Trump fan yesterday who expressed a similar sentiment. I'm willing to bet if you had to pay that because of a decision Biden made you would all be having full fledged mental breakdowns.

I was again being sarcastic.

Anyways, there is some state law that gas has to be a unique blend no one else uses (presumably for environmental reasons) and some portion of it has to be sourced locally. And a lot of the local supply is actually closing down because suppliers are packing up and leaving because the business environment is so bad. Long way to say gas is very expensive for local reasons, and I dont really expect it to go down much, and it may even keep going up, even when the Gulf is back online.

Also, for good or bad I dont care how much gas costs, and dont really get outraged over it. I just stick in the credit card, and whatever it costs it costs, and I dont think about it. I have so many financial leaks in my life, spending an extra $10-20 when I get gas doesn't move the needle much for me. I can make that up 100 different ways if I cared to.

I hear you on a big nuke, but what if it was just a little nuke to show everyone who is the boss? That would be cool, right?

No I don’t think so. I just hope cooler heads prevail and we get a diplomatic end to this war.

Criticism of Israel isn't anti-semitic, but using "the Jewish State" to describe Israel doing bad **** is at least a little cringy, yeah? What is the purpose of that intentional phrasing choice if not to denigrate judaism more generally?I get that the term "zionism" means "repressive jewish colonialism" to a lot of people - and that's really not what it means to most jews fwiw

Victor has assured us that antisemitism isn't a real thing anymore. I can show receipts upon request.

I voted for Trump all three times.

Cooler heads than you, I guess.

Are these like the "go fast boats" from the Miami Vice movie

Actually, yes. The IRGC component of their maritime forces operate several classes of fast boats which are copies of civilian speed boat designs.

To clarify, it is not like they operate a dozen of these for fun. They have several thousand of them, using them in an established doctrine aimed at being able to intercept, control and even attack civilian maritime traffic near their coast and quickly return to shore.

Glass full of copium. But keep them posts coming, they’re almost as fun as reading Dunyains garbage.

No thanks.

Yeah through the panhandle so idk if that actually counts as west Texas-- more like north Texas I suppose. I'm in western Kansas now on the way to the lake of the Ozarks for a wedding.

Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a ten day cease fire. This is a very good sign. I’ve upped the percentage chance I will be able to go to Israel in June to 27% from 7%.

this is the weirdest ceasefire imaginable. Israel was never at war with Lebanon. the Lebanese Army has not fired a single bullet. the Lebanese government supports Israel. does this mean they will stop double and triple tapping paramedics? I guess thats a good thing. we can be pretty sure they wont stop murdering random men women and children in the South. nor will they stop demolishing houses and destroying farms.

ahh i kind of do I just not with this incompetent leader. saving american lives to not save iranian lives is a very understandable american pov. but non americans who value them equally as Iranian lives might see it different. Of course a full scale invasion wouldn't work. more like some imited strategic boots on the ground in port citys to free the Iranian people. were not talking the ukraine war here

Well, there you have it.

Some insights from Iranians:

Hope and anger in Iran as fragile ceasefire persists

The roughly 3,500 messages received and reviewed since April 8 show a wide array of emotions, with no single voice or issue dominating.

More than a quarter of the messages expressed hope about what might come next, often framing the ceasefire as a temporary pause rather than a turning point.

Some said they believed the truce was merely a tactical step that would ultimately weaken the Islamic Republic.

β€œDon’t lose hope. This ceasefire means another surprise is coming. Be patient,” one viewer from Rasht wrote.

Others expressed confidence that outside pressure on the government would continue.

β€œTrump knows what he’s doing. Don’t worryβ€”there’s a plan behind this ceasefire,” a viewer from Tabriz wrote.

Many messages referred to Prince Reza Pahlavi as a potential focal point for opposition hopes, with some writers saying they were waiting for a β€œfinal call” to action.

About 18 percent of the messages focused less on politics and more on daily hardship.

Writers described worsening economic conditions, rising prices for food and medicine, job losses and the effects of the country’s internet shutdown.

A viewer from Karaj said he had paid the equivalent of nearly $20 for a single gigabyte of internet access through unofficial services.

β€œMy business is destroyed,” he wrote.

Another viewer from Mashhad said cancer medicines had become scarce and far more expensive. β€œPeople are not well,” the message read.

Nearly 17 percent of the messages expressed deep despair, describing the ceasefire as the collapse of hopes that the conflict might bring fundamental political change.

β€œThe world collapsed on my head,” one message from Tehran read. β€œWe didn’t endure all this hardship just for a ceasefire.”

Others expressed anger at foreign leaders, accusing them of abandoning the Iranian people after raising expectations during the conflict.

Some messages directly criticized President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, using words such as β€œbetrayal” and β€œdeception.”

β€œMr. Trump, a ceasefire means betrayal of the blood of thousands of fallen heroes,” one viewer wrote.

Another message addressed the United States more broadly: β€œWe asked you to help free Iran. Instead you left us with a worse situation.”

Taken together, the messages portray a society that is exhausted yet resilient.

Many said they opposed any agreement that would leave the Islamic Republic in place. Some said they were prepared to endure further hardship rather than see what they called the β€œblood of the fallen” go unavenged.

The government of Lebanon and Israel both agree Hezbollah must go. The countries are looking forward to normalizing relations in the future.

right. thats my point. they were never at war and always allies. whats the point of a ceasefire between the two? I guess its just for show but its just so blatantly pointless that its hard to believe.

anyway, Hezbollah isnt going anywhere. Israel tried to invade and made no progress. I dont think the comprador Lebanese government is going to change that. and the Lebanese Army is not going to fight Hezbollah on behalf of the Jewish State no matter what the traitorous PM says.
