Rory's driving was fine:

3rd of the top 8 finishers in SG OTT

6th of the top 20 finishers in SG OTT

you're right about his short game carrying him to victory:

2nd of the top 20 finishers in SG ARG

Makes sense. Driving accuracy is pretty irrelevant at Augusta. No real rough and some of the shots out of the pine straw are more ideal that certain spots on the fairway.

It's basically all luck if you get screwed driving it into the trees. On par 5s the strategy should be to drive the hell out of the ball and hope you get it far enough down on the fairway. Driving it short and on the fairway is going to be a layup, so if you miss your drive on going for it, you basically are just going to layup to a similar spot.

With the Chairman saying that players are driving it too far nowadays, the way to combat that is to make inaccurate drives actually penal.

Overall this was by far an entertaining final round . I think we all thought Rory would collapse but it turned out everyone around him had a few collapses. I was cheering for Justin Rose but it just didn't happen

I would bet a ton of money that Tiger was not allowed to choose as the precedent had been set for decades and Augusta National always does things their way. Not a chance would anybody be allowed in that ceremony other than the typical participants. I mentioned before the ceremony yesterday that it would be weird having only one person sitting across from the chairman and Nantz

It would’ve been a Member or former champion. It’s possible CBS ESPN or like USA Today reported wrongly he had a choice while they were spitballing on a morning show.

First time since USO ‘02 that OGWR finished 1-2, maybe first time ever 1-2-3? Chalk snoozefest once Rose backed off in the 11th fairway a la Monty at Oak Hill on Sunday at 18.

Phil actually outshot Tiger by five on the the weekend but Tiger cruised wire to wire, speaking of snoozefests.

You know what I ****ing hate - I hate being ****ing Irish and being so ****ing busy with all those sports I have to watch and being midway through the ****ing 3rd round meet up with my mom tell my mom hey I will talk about the sports I want to talk about (after talking about English football and rugby) and then her wanting to feel like she is in as part of that conversation she says what about the golf and I know stopping her there it is about Rory - **** me and **** the rest of the field. What was it the 2nd round when he cleared away he didn't hit a fairway and the rest of the ****ing field couldn't close in on him. It was the masters only so hope the next meet up with my mother is far away from a major and I knew it would ****ing happen too - **** me

here comes Scottie!

Max Homa looking like a spoiled golfer out there this weekend!

frustrating how Åberg just can't seem to keep things together for four rounds
still apears calm and collected, but there's something not good going on inside there

digression unintended toward being mean and while that last putt to stiff arm scottie at the end was floss as boss
oh nevermind
temporairly lost my though ticket aboard the Matty Fitz champion training for ship circuits but eventually found safe harbor in it after searching long enough over time

Good for Fitz. Love him for another US or at the Open. Playing so well right now.

Scottie wins at Aronimink.

perhaps a certain lighthouse helped you find your way?

indeed. helped that it was striped like where's waldo

Scottie up to a 2.96 DG Index

Finally finished the Masters (well up to 18th hole for Rory) - I feel for Rose given he had the lead but he just doesn't have the stamina that Rory and Scottie have. It is the same with Young - that could have been Rory's best pairing. I'm not sure how he would go against Scottie. Meanwhile Day just fell away as usual - he couldn't match it with Rose on the front 9 but then his back 9 looked better than Rose's. All in all pretty disappointing Masters for the Aussies - particularly how Min Woo played

Worst event on tour . I hate the two man format
