Why does this matter? You haven't heard of most people. Shut the **** up.

Had literally never heard of this guy until this story broke yesterday.

I don't understand but πŸ˜†

And these people wonder why they get shot.

Anyone who believed the 10x figure is close to brain dead. I doubt that level of inefficiency would be possible even if you were trying to waste money.

Idk. I'm pretty sure you could open up a grocery store in LV for several x less than the City of New York could build one from the ground up. Obviously not an apples to apples comparison, though.

Sure, it might cost several multiples more to build a grocery store in Manhattan than it would cost in the middle of nowhere. But if that is the comparison that is being made, then the tweet is not only inaccurate but also deliberately misleading.

There's plenty of vacant ones to lower average opening costs in the middle of nowhere, too. But yeah, super misleading.

This is a good example of what I'm seeing a lot of with AI. The people whose spidey sense kicks in and knew how to research before AI are the only ones left to combat more and more of this stuff that keeps getting perpetuated.

This is dismaying but probably correct.

As long as the store is only selling healthy food, it might be a good idea. Not sure selling cheaper candy and honey buns would be a great idea, though.

Al Qaeda headchopper vibing out to Missy Elliot. this has been on my mind today.

I haven't read the indictment against the SPLC yet, but based on the news reports, the legal theory of the case seems dubious. I do take it as a sign that Todd Blanche wants to be the AG. This is exactly the sort of indictment that Trump wants the new AG to green light.

First thing that came to mind is who is the victim?

You can’t really have a fraud case without a live person coming in and saying - I was lied to and would not have given my money if they told me what it was actually going to.

Do they actually have someone lined up to say that? And wouldn’t there be a crew of people volunteering to say exactly the opposite?

The theoretical victims would be the people who donated money.

I don't think there would be armies of people who would say that knew that SPLC was paying money to informants. That isn't the sort of detail that the SPLC would have disclosed or that most people would have known. You of course could get an army of people who were willing to say that they wouldn't have cared if they had known that specific detail.

And in almost situation, you can find few people who are willing to say that they there shocked and appalled.

Yea but - β€œI didn’t know everything they were going to do with my money and am shocked that part of it went to X” - doesn’t sound like fraud. At least to me.

There’s gotta be some kind of fine print disclaimer on general donations that says like - SPLC will use these funds at its discretion to carry out its overall mission and giving money doesn’t give you any right to control or influence their decisions.

It’s also pretty unusual to criminally charge a business without any named individual defendants. And the indictment has no specific complainants who are claiming to be defrauded. The wire transactions are payments TO the informants, where usually you’d be putting in specific donations that were obtained via false pretenses.

I mean it goes without saying, but this seems highly questionable.

Oh I agree. Like I said, this feels like the acting AG is showing Trump that he is willing to bring spurious, politically motivated lawsuits.

It’s also pretty unusual to criminally charge a business without any named individual defendants.

The goal here is to put the SPLC out of business. I don't think Trump or the DOJ cares about trying to send any SPLC employees to jail.

How effective has the war on the middle class been? We are actively watching evil sociopathic billionaires restructure our society so that everyone has less and they have everything and many are just cheering it on like they expect to be pulled into the overlord class by osmosis. Its insane to watch happen in real time.

But hey, let's give the CEOs of the offending companies big bonuses for saving money!

Nearly half of children in the United States are breathing dangerous levels of air pollution, according to a new report, as experts warned Donald Trump’s expansive rollback of protections will make the situation worse.

The 27th annual air quality report from the American Lung Association (ALA) released on Wednesday evaluates pollution across the country by grading levels of ground-level ozone – also known as smog – as well as year-round and short-term spikes in particle pollution, commonly referred to as soot. The report analyzed quality-assured data collected between 2022 and 2024.

It found that 33.5 million children in the US – 46% of those under 18 – live in areas that received a failing grade for at least one measure of air pollution.

The report also found that 7 million children, or 10% of all children in the US, live in communities that failed all three measures.

why you think that would be WORSE than Harris-Walz?

Not 'allow' but 'require'

Texas can require public schools to display the Ten Commandments in classrooms, US appeals court rules

by jalfrezi m

I like the Pete choice but please Kamala needs to disappear along with Hillary

Any ticket with Kamala as candidate for pres will be good news for the GOP as they will be unburdened with burden of winning

by jalfrezi m

Lol I thought Democrats were trying to win now.
