My poker story

Up $630 in online $2/$5 game. It’s been ages since I’ve played on PokerStars like pre Black Friday a decade or so. Game seemed reggy. Got it in on a 2 club flop with ace flush draw vs set and got there. Heading over to the $1/$3 nlhe game at the island casino now. Checked bravo app and I see Tampa Seminole has a $25/$50 NLHE game running hope to play in that later this month never played higher than 5/10 live so should be interesting but I’m not really nervous just excited and curious. Gonna really try not to punt away too much before I go maybe even grind up a few buy in’s so I can feel more like Im freerolling. Imagine running hot at 25/50 could literally win 30k if a heater came.

Played $2/$5 in Milwaukee last night and this morning. Wanted to squeeze in some poker before a brutal winter storm hits Wisconsin. Supposed to get 2 ft - 3 ft of snow between now and Monday. Schools will likely be closed Monday, so there's that. Lost 2 buy-ins at poker. No major mistakes just couldn't get much going. Didn't play any craps. Been eating well lately, lots of vegetables and salads, & feel grounded. Just got back, made some chicken & rice. Snow just starting coming in. Now just drafting some fantasy football teams listening to some deep progressive trance. Tampa is 2 weeks away!! I cannot wait to walk along a warm beach and feel a hot sun in my face. Life is good. Not sure where I'm gonna be spending the summer at from June - August I have off work, and lease at apt goes through June. Will move all my stuff into a storage unit. May end up traveling around Thailand / Asia, or back to Tampa if I feel like the games are worth grinding for 3 months. Most likely one of those two options. Not WSOP...I didn't like the July trip that wasn't fun for me.

I think stake.us runs in Wisconsin? I was killing it up to 200NL before they banned it in Cali to start this year, which sucked balls for me. Cali is probably a huge player pool though so I can't say if the games are still soft. Definitely not as +EV as live but there's no HUD(or wasn't, I doubt that changed) or tracking so there's fewer grinders there.

I’m not sure if it does. Maybe at some point I’ll check it out. I’m not really interested in the online scene as much though. Cash games are significantly tougher online, and I got sick of the unregulated sites and bots…I don’t really trust the options available.

I didn’t like Vegas in the summer mostly because of the weather, the homeless population, and the drug addicts. It was kind of a messy place and I remember it being different when I was there in early 2010s. Sitting at a poker table at the Bellagio with true grinders wearing Beats headphones on a Tuesday morning was definitely a vibe though, and seeing poker legends walking around the casinos was pretty cool, but I’d rather go to a place that has something more to offer than gambling. Vegas is just full of slots and casinos and warm humid weather. Thailand and Southeast Asia are fun for longer trips because there’s way more culture, it’s cheap, and girls. I do miss the Vegas Mexican food though but Thai street food is next level. I may try and do both too Tampa and Asia….not sure yet.

For now definitely excited for Tampa I saw a $100/$200 game running on Bravo last weekend I wouldn’t sit at that one but exciting to be in a room with that type of game going, and loads of $5/$10 and $2/$5s. I booked a place off Clear Water Beach so gonna soak up the sun walk along the ocean and then play some cards for Spring Break and try not to torch more than 10 racks.

Let’s get it.

Goal is to play 50 hours of poker across 7 days. Could probably double that but the other half of the time I’m going to the beach. Florida is my favorite state and I want some good sun time. Realistically will be mostly $2/$5, no less than that though. I’ll take a shot in a bigger game either $5/$10 or higher depending how things go. If I’m feeling frisky might sit in a $25/$50. Stop loss is $10,000. Will update daily with some pics and real hand history breakdown. Not gonna play anything else. Bankroll to the exact dollar is $116,821.

Will be flying in March 27th out of Milwaukee through Saturday April 4th, with March 28th being first day at it.

I know I have like 1-2 people who still occasionally read this lol…but I’ll give 7% of my action sent via PayPal to whoever guesses closest to total profit in poker for the trip. Not counting against for any expenses for trip just any straight poker profit (If I win $100 total across all days you get $7, etc.). If I end with a loss it’s $0. Any guesses before March 28th count.

Wishing you a great trip and decent rivers haha. Since your BR is peaking after Fantasy hit and you are in better place regarding family issues (I hope so), my guess would be $2500-$2800 in GREEN.

I may or may not have done a line of an illicit substance of the white variety that makes someone feel invincible. It may have persuaded me to jump into a 25/50 nlhe game with straddles and get stuck bad thinking I could run over the table. Hit the stop loss and then some after night 1 and didnÂ’t stop. Good news is that IÂ’ve been grinding hard at 2/5 since and am only down $25k. Told work I tore a calf and need some medical leave gonna try and get back 10 more and then get my ass back to Wisconsin.

Put in a 14 hour session at $2/$5 grinded up $4k exhausted gonna hit the sack. Down only about $20kish now for the trip.

I can beat the games here just feel really stupid for getting stuck so deep that first weekend. Never even played that high. Was leaning into guys that probably have millions and donÂ’t give a **** about folding. I think I was overestimating fold equity. Maybe had a unique group but should have just nittted it up I went full human bulldozer at a $25/$50 straddle lol im so dumb. Weathers nice beaches are warm maybe I stay **** society get rich or die

Summer's coming up and based on your first post you get summers off. Is renting a place or a room in that Florida area an option for a month? See if you really like the area, maybe find a similar job down there?

Yes been staying in cheap Airbnb paying a daily rate on it …still also have a Wisconsin lease through June. Already paid it but wouldn’t do anything other than cheap cheap since I’m renting a place I’m not using. My medical leave is running up gonna maybe go back to work Monday for 45 days then come back in Summer. That way I’ll have something set forSeptember….if I partake in the varieties and try and be king of Tampa…but fail twice.

At airport heading back to Wisconsin. Be back in June may go to Thailand may come back to Tampa. One of the two for summer. Overall lost $21k was down nearly thirty at peak good to have grinded some back. Should have just slept away Spring Break oh well. Bankroll at about 100k so it’s all good.
