The NHL Thread
For the 5 of us who post NHL stuff, here you go. Officially the season starts Tuesday October 11, although there were tw
How much money did the Oilers pay the refs in this game?
Tusks Up batches!
This Ingram guy might be worse than Skinner. That's unbelievable.
Kuch was complaining that we were cheering too hard for the regular season win vs. TB. He'll be absolutely disgusted by this. Real fans mostly keep quiet with occasional MAGA! err USA! chants.
Lozen what is happening!? Lol
Wonder if McD is reconsidering that extension (which he didn't need to sign)
I was surprised he signed it as well I would have waited till the end of this season .
This has to be one of the most poorly managed teams in the NHL though last year the third most profitable team in the world
Lets not count them out as they have been in this scenario multiple times. The talk is if Jarry is net Sunday which is nuts if anyone it needs to be Calvin
The penalties in this one have been wild. Find a way in the third.

He's so easily tradable. He says the word, Oilers get a haul for him. Don't really fault him for signing the extension, but he should have demanded a goalie as well.
Stank conn smythe lol
STANKOVEN!
Spoiler
Sorry cowboy
I like Carolina though. A bunch of other teams would have really pissed me off.
Hopefully we can finish it off. Still a ton of time remaining.
What a ****ing move to skate all the way down the ice.
Sebastian x2!
Robertson not good enough to play in the Olympics and he disappears in the playoffs.
🙄
Sweep those bitches.
Mn remains cursed
just noticed that he's making $1.5m less than drai
and only like $3m more than nurse
still can't believe he didn't demand the max to stay on both contracts, which would've meant almost $21m next season
his cap hit has actually gone down from a high of 15.72% in 2018-19 to a low of 11.01% in 2027-28
should be making almost twice as much and/or playing somewhere that isn't goddamn edmonton
conclusion: what a ****ing idiot lol
getting skate-kicked in the face is not on my to-do list, gotta say
What a tip by Boldy in OT, that will be a fun series.
Reminds me of the speed skating at the Olympics, check Kamila Sellier on YT if you want to see, I won't link it here. She didn't lose her eye but had surgery for fractures around the eye.
Some discussion on MTL boards if it'd even be worth bringing in McDavid. It seems like he might want to stay in Canada and MTL has a core that will be competing for cups for the rest of McDavid's prime. So it seems like a spot he'd be very interested in.
But MTL prob has to give up like every good prospect: Hage, Reinbacher, Pickford, Zharovsky, plus prob a bunch of 1sts and EDM still might say no to that b/c it wouldn't include a proven NHL player. I doubt MTL even thinks about offloading a Demidov or Hutson though so maybe it's a no go.
Although let's say EDM would agree to the 4 elite prospects + picks package, do you do that if your MTL? I think it makes it far more likely they get 1-2 Cups in the next few seasons, but all but eliminates the chances of a real dynasty type run. Habs with current team would possibly have a 15 year window where maybe they win 3 Cups, possibly more, but those ELCs 3-5 yrs down the road will be critical to have valuable players barely taking up any Cap space.
OTOH, there are plenty of teams who think they're set up perfectly for a long Cup window, and it never materializes, so maybe you just strike while the iron is hot, grab McDavid if he's available, and try to do all you can to get 2 Cups now, then see what happens in 4-5 years (prob too many contracts coming due to keep everyone happy).
The last factor is that Cole, Suzuki, Slaf, and Lane have all signed team-friendly extensions and have all been happy with 7-8M AAV deals and hopefully Demi follows that pattern. All are great dudes who love playing for MTL. If you throw in McDavid and he wants 15M+ and isn't really a "Montreal guy", maybe that upsets the vibes and destroys what you've been carefully building.
Although it would be nice, Montreal doesn't need him. Great young core set up for a long cup window. Don't change a thing.
