living out of my car in los angeles....
Hello 2p2. My name is Rick. I'm a 30 year old poker player from Los Angeles, California. I've been playing poker sinc
Please make the first vlog a trip to the majestic Crystal Palace poker room if they still spread it.
When I visited way back when some yutes solicited me for a dollar or two to procure a cigar in order to roll up some ganja they wished to smoke, gladly provided it of course
nice decision. those total apes starring in the LV VLOGGERS thread are making a living somehow. maybe not entirely through vlogging, but it gives them purpose. you will trounce over those ******s obviously, and thorougly.
would def watch your vlog
maybe it'd be good to reach out to gazzyb here and see what his thoughts on it are, i think in order to really find an audience you'll need to more or less make it a full time job
glgl and i'll buy 1% the old investors are not available
Cool and thank you. I'll message you before I go to Vegas(end of June) about payment or whatever.
Lots of good place around SoCal to play poker.
Thank you sir.

I'll try to check it out. I want to visit as many casinos as possible and give my take on them.

Thank you for now putting me onto that thread I've gone down it a bit and wow. I think I can do this.
Going back to 5/5 after playing 5/T feels like training with a weighted vest versus without. I'm going down to San Diego this week for work and besides visiting my friend I think I'll try to hit up some of the local casinos.
Well, I got like 9 hours of footage over the weekend with some good hands. Now I just gotta edit this into something.
i've sometimes thought about vlogging as a shower thought, would never do it now that i sold out and have a job again
but the big thing i really had to think about was "how would people respond" if i started playing with a camera setup to film all my hands
was there any difference in playing while filming?

Yeah that's been the thing holding me back for so long, public scrutiny. Like I absolutely DO NOT want to be that guy. Any kind of thing that draws attention to myself in public is something I run away from. So I have the new s26 ultra which has a built in privacy display. So you can't really see my screen except from mostly straight on. I also turned the brightness down all the way and just sort of casually left my phone propped up against my chips. The angle isn't great because it's low to the table so it doesn't capture the board well or at all. I'll think about that more later. But yeah I don't think anyone knew that I was even vlogging. I did my best to just be real casual and pretend like my phone was off and I think thats what everyone else thought.
Also I think it might be wise to start rounding the LA casinos instead of just sticking to Commerce. Different casinos different days. Become an LA Rounder.
The first vlog I have the hands edited down. 5/5 at commerce. 1st hand I have AK utg opens to 10 we raise to 35 he 4bets to 100 we fold. Easy. 2nd hand we have KTdd open 1 caller. Cbet J97dxx flop. Check jam 3d turn get called and river diamond. 3rd hand 3bet TT get 2 callers flop KQTr check call a jam/win. 4th hand raise KK get 3bet then jam and win. 5th hand lose a few hundred with AA on KQT board. Up $992 end of the night. I've got the hands ready just gotta do the commentary part and add in the graphics but I'm having fun with this so far.
I played a session last night which was dramatic. It's hard for me to see something I haven't seen before but last night it happened. An irate player intentionally knocked over another player's chip stack.... and I got it on video! Lol. Seriously this bum got all upset that his neighbor flashed a card during a hand before he folded and he just started whining for a few minutes and then when he didn't get the reaction he wanted, he literally knocked over the guy next to him's chips. It was crazy. And then the floor gets called over and she doesn't do a good enough job being firm enough. He needed to get a 24 hour ban in my opinion. Instead floor comes over and listens to his whining about the showing a card for a few minutes (that's not the issue) and basically just gives him a warning. I ask if he's getting banned and say if he's not getting a 24 hour ban I'm leaving, before I do I chastise the guy like a toddler saying he can't knock over people's chips because he's upset and pick up my chips and leave. All of this on video =). Also I won $2046 with some big hands.
5 days later and still no progress on the vlog. Going to Commerce today in a bit to play some poker but tomorrow I'm working on the vlog. I'm not sure how I'm going to do the commentary and lay it over but I'll figure it out. I'll watch some tutorials on youtube lol.
I'm not sure if it's a sign that I'm not very good at poker or what but I feel like I'm more profitable at 5/5 than 5/10. It's like mostly professionals at 5/10 or near enough to that level. There's so much more 3betting, fewer flops seen. Fewer multiway flops. There has to be a breaking point where no matter how skilled a player is the difference in play between games has to outweigh the level of the blinds. And at 5/5 you have so many players there just for fun. Even the good players are far more timid and less likely to 3bet with anything non-premium. I think since the game has less 3bets I can sort of run over the table much easier. I don't know but for now I'm going to stick to 5/5.

Maybe play some live tournaments. the only form of real poker left. Some don't play tournaments due to the swings.

I'm a real poker player through and through, I feel it in my bones. The only tournament poker I'm playing this year is the main event because I'm a goddamn romantic. I got visions of grandeur winning the main event on ESPN running through my head. 80% of the time I'm just going to be throwing away ten grand. Money I could invest in my future, blown on a crazy dream. But what can I do? It's in my damn nature to take risks, to gamble. I'm the scorpion, it's in my nature to sting.
Emerson puts it best, "Whoso would be a man must be a nonconformist."...."No law can be sacred to me but that of my nature."
Whoso would be a man must be a nonconformist. He who would gather immortal palms must not be hindered by the name of goodness, but must explore if it be goodness. Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind. Absolve you to yourself, and you shall have the suffrage of the world. I remember an answer which when quite young I was prompted to make to a valued adviser, who was wont to importune me with the dear old doctrines of the church. On my saying, What have I to do with the sacredness of traditions, if I live wholly from within? my friend suggested,--"But these impulses may be from below, not from above." I replied, "They do not seem to me to be such; but if I am the Devil's child, I will live then from the Devil." No law can be sacred to me but that of my nature. Good and bad are but names very readily transferable to that or this; the only right is what is after my constitution, the only wrong what is against it. A man is to carry himself in the presence of all opposition, as if every thing were titular and ephemeral but he. I am ashamed to think how easily we capitulate to badges and names, to large societies and dead institutions. Every decent and well-spoken individual affects and sways me more than is right. I ought to go upright and vital, and speak the rude truth in all ways. If malice and vanity wear the coat of philanthropy, shall that pass? If an angry bigot assumes this bountiful cause of Abolition, and comes to me with his last news from Barbadoes, why should I not say to him, 'Go love thy infant; love thy wood-chopper: be good-natured and modest: have that grace; and never varnish your hard, uncharitable ambition with this incredible tenderness for black folk a thousand miles off. Thy love afar is spite at home.' Rough and graceless would be such greeting, but truth is handsomer than the affectation of love. Your goodness must have some edge to it,--else it is none. The doctrine of hatred must be preached as the counteraction of the doctrine of love when that pules and whines. I shun father and mother and wife and brother, when my genius calls me. I would write on the lintels of the door-post, Whim. I hope it is somewhat better than whim at last, but we cannot spend the day in explanation. Expect me not to show cause why I seek or why I exclude company. Then, again, do not tell me, as a good man did to-day, of my obligation to put all poor men in good situations. Are they my poor? I tell thee, thou foolish philanthropist, that I grudge the dollar, the dime, the cent, I give to such men as do not belong to me and to whom I do not belong. There is a class of persons to whom by all spiritual affinity I am bought and sold; for them I will go to prison, if need be; but your miscellaneous popular charities; the education at college of fools; the building of meeting-houses to the vain end to which many now stand; alms to sots; and the thousandfold Relief Societies;--though I confess with shame I sometimes succumb and give the dollar, it is a wicked Dollar which by and by I shall have the manhood to withhold.
This is a paragraph from Emerson's essay Self-Reliance if anyone is interested it's quite literally the best piece of writing I've ever read.
Another great session in the books. I won $1511 yesterday got some of it on video but my battery ran out played for 9 hours.
I got a round with my favorite dealer yesterday, the best dealer at the Commerce Casino, Vicky. She's great. I mean she's just so much better than all the other dealers. Pays attention to everything, doesn't take **** from anyone, deals me sets non stop. Who wouldn't love that? When she first sits down she made a tiny error about moving the button or something and some player starts to get way more upset and make a bigger deal out of it than is necessary and Vicky got so fiery and just shut that **** down immediately. I love to see it. These dealers take so much abuse from these miserly old curmudgeons they shouldn't have to put up with crap from anybody. I told her that I saw her on the Commerce Casino live stream and that I typed into the chat "Vicky is the best dealer at the Commerce!" I'm sure it's nice to hear someone recognizes her good work. She knows she's good. She even said some of the other comments praised her ability to count the pot so quick in pot limit games. And maybe because I don't want to misplay a hand or look foolish in front of her I just always seem to have the goods whenever she's dealing. She dealt me a set of nines yesterday in a big multiway pot that got all-in for like 400. Tipped her $11, more than I'd tip any other dealer because she deserves it. If Vicky is your dealer say "hello" and tip her well!
if u bink the main u will go down in history as one of the all time greats of the game. pro tournament player for the next few years as well.
can you be the 51st main event champ?
I won $1716 in like 6 hours today. Very fun.
that's the way, chip. i need to learn to play more hours like you
My new rule going forward at the poker table is going to be telling anyone who's vaping it's not allowed. That **** pisses me off, I can feel my heart beating faster when I breath that crap in. I'm not shying away from confrontation. I'll probably call over the floor to have them explain it, that might be better.
I don't play that much got a full time job at the moment.
If your a Scorpio you should play loose aggressive. Very aggressive.
Won $1642 today. I made an incredible fold. Raise AQos utg to 20 get called by button and both blinds. Big blind and I are like ~2500 effective. Flop is Q43r checks to us we bet 45, button calls with ~600 behind and big blind calls. Turn Qr. Check and we bet 140 button folds and big blind raises to 500 and we fold! This guy wasn't bluffing. I asked and he said he had 44 and I told him I folded AQ lol. I'm the best, I'm winning the world series guys!
