Online dating has gotten insanely tougher since this thread came out.
I remember veteran players saying the first two years of tinder releasing it was like shooting fish and a barrel, it was new exciting people wants to meet and mingle and etc
kinda like the poker boom between 04-07 games will never be as good as it wa then
also the ultimate study is that 10-20% of guys get 60-80% of the girls which not only is true its just hard to argue it as a non fact.
over years the ammt of attention pathetic single guys have given girls that even the "4s" of the world (sucks to rate girls number but have to drive point home) have dozens of messages and matches.
instant gratification, no longer needed to go to bars to get that high.
has lead to a steep rough patch for online dating as of now.
Now, is it all gloom and doom and gg donezo? certainty not. like poker online or live there are still games to played, still action to be had. just way way less frequent than before. and much like poker, maybe online isnt the fastest best way 100/100 times to go about it, need to vary approaches .
we live in a time where its NEVER been easier to meet someone in the hundreds (or thousands) of years earth has had humans . yet hardest ever to make a connection at the same time
can confirm the eras thing. was single during that golden age in 13-16, match and meetup same day was genuinely normal. then got back on post covid and it was brutal by comparison. every match felt like a job interview, nobody wanted to actually meet, response times measured in days.
irl still worked but the math got ugly. go out to a venue you'd rather not be at, and after a lot of prep time, commute time, and time spent there awkwardly by yourself, walk away with 2-3 real options. it's exhausting having to time approaches perfectly as well as suss out if they were single or not. even harder when all your friends are married, so you're not breaking off from a group, you're just some guy alone at a bar.
or... sit on the couch and swipe 100 women in 10 minutes. even at a terrible conversion rate the apps win on volume.
currently off the apps. met someone whose profile was genuinely terrible, bad bio that read like high maintenance, worst possible photo selection. but you could tell they weren't glamour shots and i'm a sucker for tall women, she's 6'. we skipped the games and actually talked, first date it was obvious, deleted everything that night. sometimes the numbers game works out despite the algorithm working against you.

Gotta say I had the shortest ever tinder/pof/whatever other apps out there lifetime.. created a profile. Within 3 hours. An ex contacted me who saw me on it. We hooked up , because a couple for 6 months again. Deleted that app every since.

will say the 12-14 months of covid. the apps were the closest they've been since launch. can confirm saw people who struggled mightily did okay on them but thats due to well the obvious reasons of everyone not only being inide but legit nothing to do, inide for months at a time etc etc

I'm down to about 20% of what I had when I first started posting ITT and on top of that I've heard apps hardly even work in places that used to be goldmines like BKK and CDMX.
So I definitely got out at the right time and am still happily married and in fact celebrating my 7th anniversary of when I first met my wife. I documented my first few dates on here from May 2019, so it will be interesting for me to revisit my initial thoughts.

If both grandfathers had hair then your outcome is normal, bro was just super unlucky.
My mom's dad was bald as a bat and she has 5 sisters and like all their sons (and my 2 brothers) are pretty bald except 1 (and he's getting there fast).
