Yeah, God I remember smoking in the back area of a (still visible by the clients) open kitchen as a cook in the late 90s and once being asked by a client to go wash my hands 😃🙄 It was pretty nasty, come to think of it, and our generation didn't even experience the airplane smoking!!!

Well done not letting a well-bluffed spot that nonetheless gets called go to waste! Way to get the advertising value out of the hand, even though you didn't win the pot. It obviously reaped near-term rewards, and may reap future rewards when playing against the same Vs in the future. Well done, SJ!
Thanks, TopGun in VA! There is a school that claims that tight players who show their bluffs are actually underbluffers, and that's true about me, but most $1/$2 regs who pay at least some attention are not quite at that level of analysis, and if you show, they'll label you as a bluffer and move on.
Ugh. Massachusetts takes 2-3 weeks to send a renewed drivers license in the mail, not the 1-2 that I'd originally thought, so I still have another 1-2 weeks where I don't want to hit a handpay on the slots or a promo payout at poker.

I remember flying into Paris around 2006. People smoking in line for immigration, waiting for luggage. Going into a cafe where people would just stand around indoors, drink a quick espresso with a cigarette and throw the butt on the ground. It was so foreign to see French outside bars and cafes forced to smoke outside when bans first went into effect.
It's unusual but not unbearable. Slot machines are designed to be fun and addictive. A lot of other workplaces are not set up that way. Other places pay wages because most people wouldn't show up and do the work otherwise.
Last night, the poker table was very good, and I was not at all good. I ran bad at the start and dumped $250 off to one player on my first 3 hands. Then I did an "FU, I CALL" play with another villain, something I hadn't done for months. I thought I'd eliminated that play from my repertoire, but I was wrong. It's up to me to never do it again.
I had to set over set somone to get out of that session with a small win. I can't rely on that happening consistently. +$74 over 4 hours.
The slots were meh, but I didn't lose; nothing significant to report. +$45 over 4.5 hours.

Yesterday a player at my table ran her stack from $150 to $1400 in an hour, then she spent the next hour calling all of it off with marginal and bad hands.
I was card dead during the carnival ride, but I still enjoyed watching it play out, and I was sad to see her go.
But she came back, after she apparently borrowed $350 from her friend for another buyin. It was then that I picked up AA and made it $22 to go pre over a few limps, isolating her with her 94s.
I don't remember the exact details, but the board ran out J993A, and she just called with her trips as I barrelled flop and turn.
On the river, the pot was around $240, and she had $200 left in her stack. Based on my read, I thought that she would definitely call $100 with a J or better, and correspondingly she would call off her last $200 around 60% of the time.
60% of $200 is better than 100% of $100, so I shoved river. If I'd known she'd had a 9, I would have put her chances of calling all-in at more than 90%.
She made a hero fold—a disrespectful fold—helping to keep my day breakeven, though I still sucked out in the hand and won a decent pot; I would have ended up down significantly for the day on any non-A river.

On the way home, the alternative radio station played a dub reggae version of Pink Floyd's Time, and it slapped, as the kids say. Or used to say; I'm prolly behind the times.
I've been playing video games again, after swearing them off as my main impediment to grinding. So far I've been able to find a balance and get my work hours in. Sometimes a life solution involves an adjustment and not a nuclear option. Mostly it involves stick-to-itiveness.
I just finished Red Dead Redemption 2. It's a very pretty game, though it makes my poor PS4 howl like a jet engine. I also liked the writing. The storyline involving Arthur, the stoic cowboy player character, is nuanced and well-developed.
But there are way too many long, tiresome fetch quests and immersion-breaking achievements that award little more than cosmetic upgrades..in other words, it's a Rockstar game.
I'm going to try Assassin's Creed Unity next.

I use to be DJ for a reggae night back in my good ole hippie days, so would be in tune with all the new, random and obscure reggae/dub/dancehall/ska - hence the Nic Dubnjoy!!! - stuff and I would usually start off the evening with some good ole dub remix of Pink Floyd 
Yes. She showed 94s to us. And she showed it to her neighbor before she folded, which was a clear violation of the rules. I didn't say anything; the guy didn't give her any advice, and I like to avoid being a rules nit with fun players if they're having a good time.
I can pick a job where I'm as free as possible, but I'll never truly get away from customer service.

Agree. I'm not a person who "gets" music like you (and most of the thread), but Time and Rush's Limelight are two songs that speak to me. I should probably get motivated to do more and better things (first) while avoiding other people noticing that I am (second)
Last night I finished the week with 3 hours of poker (+$150) and 5 hours of slots (+$121), contributing to 42 hours in five days, and making for my first ever weekly grind over 40 hours.
Tomorrow I'm filling in at the old office for the day. I'll take Wednesday off from the casino to compensate, so it will be a 4 day gambling week.

Damn. I think it's possible to generate a whole library's-worth of discussion about whether anyone can objectively "get" various forms of art, or if people who are seemingly in the know are merely conversant in rote theory and received opinions.

I went to a local independent bookstore, being interested in throwing them some coin. I bought two used copies and one new; my two favorite cyberpunk writers and Ironweed, which was included on one of the great movie lists I'd scrolled through recently. In passing, the critic called the book version a masterpiece. We'll see.
I may have already read and donated Gibson's spook country; if so for $2.98 I'm willing to read it again.

In MA you have to show up every ten years so your pic doesn't go out of date. In the one five-year interval between that, you can renew online. My poker night started off not-so-great at a table with three other good regs and only one fish. It being a shorthanded table, transferring off it was not an option.
After the fish stacked off, and without any new additions on the list, I opined that our lineup was too tough for a $1/$2 table, and the other regs readily agreed, so we broke the table and dispersed for greener pastures.
My new table was excellent. At the two hour mark I was up over $600, but then I ran into a cooler. It happens. Up and down is the way of the grind. +$238 after 4 hours of poker and +$53 after 4.5 hours of slots.
