What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

I think this forum could use a BBV thread, so here it is.

👍 have you heard about Cabot Revelstoke?
https://cabot.com/revelstoke/

Yep. Quite the network of courses they have become. Will probably be worth the drive for a weekend round once it's ready. Have to really like mountain golf though; I've played a ton of it and eventually it wears anyone down. Got to relax and enjoy the views.

First ace ever today. 125 yards. 48 degree wedge. Landed 12 feet short and rolled right in.

Where's my beer?

hell yeah!

Congratulations!

i have seen seven in person, have holed out for eagle at least a dozen times from as far out as 185, even topped a par 3 tee shot onto a forward tee box and birdied from there, but still do not have an ace. closest i've come is burning the edge a few times and once had the ball stop within two inches directly behind the hole.

Never witnessed either. I had about a 20' putt from the fringe for eagle on a par 5 and missed by about 4 inches.

This is the closest I've had to a hole in one.

you sure got that ball to stop, though!

Congratulations! That's awesome.

40-45-85. 1 birdie, 4 double bogeys. 68.9/121/5904

Mostly dreadful ball striking. Missing every way you can miss. Got up and down quite a few times, for the most part a very good day with the short game.

96(49/47) Completely butchered 2 of the par 5s. Other than that, a little sloppy here and there but not too disappointed.

Started pushing my drives right again. The guy playing with me told me i was swaying a little backwards on my backswing. He was right. Easy fix.

Starting to get a little steamy here. Somewhat drenched by the time I finished.

50-46 on 70.4/132 6400 yards

Hit 7 greens and over 40 putts I need a putting lesson bad

51 (par 35). No birdies, 3 doubles, 1 triple, 1 quad.

Usually I can think of something positive that happened. Tonight's highlight was when it was mercifully over. Just a brutal round.

104(50/54) My swing has completely gone south. I'm mis hitting more and even when I make contact I'm shorter. I've been driving about 240/250 for a while, and I doubt I got one 200 today, and I'm pushing them right again. Same with irons, all about 10 ten yards shorter than normal.

I started out par par and went downhill from there. Fortunately I putted well, but that's all I did well.

Some of this is because I'm walking instead of taking a cart. It was 91 degrees and a ton of humidity today. I was drenched by the 9th hole. I don't think I hit a solid shot the last 3 holes. I think I'm going to have to decide what's more important, playing well or getting exercise because the two aren't coexisting in this heat.

41-45-86 yesterday, 70.2/124/6481 yards.

Might be the most challenging conditions I'll face all year, 30+ winds and gusting harder. Had 35 putts but actually felt like it was a strength today, I made a lot of 5-10 footers for saves. Tee game was pretty dodgy, got me in a lot of trouble.

91(47/44) Started a little sketchy but by the fourth hole, everything felt so much better than it has been lately. Swing felt great. Driver pretty straight. Short game and putting fine. Found a lot of bunkers but they didn't cause too much trouble. Pretty happy.

This was mostly due to me not being so physically tired. Took a cart instead of walking. Makes a difference.

Witnessed a hole in one today

Spoiler
Show

Only he shanked his 1st ball off the tee, hit a provisional and holed it. We found his 1st and ended up with a bogey

good lord i would instantly research sepulka if that were me

Decent knock around today and finally put a decent score together.

Silly bogey on 11 lob wedge just flew about 100 putting me off the back of the green.

17th is a tough hole off the tee. Just hit a bad tee shot and was 3 off the tee. Still thought I would find my ball though.

13th.... Short sided myself and for once a proper flop shot paid off was perfect and went in.

Ended up winning our monthly medal.

^^^^^ Way to ruin your handicap. 😃

42-41-83. No birdies, 1 double bogey. 69.0/122/6006

Ball striking mostly decent, chipping poor, putting meh.

where and when might tightwad attendees of the first annual 2+2 fried egg golf name-a-state scramble omelette find themselves trodding similar teebox sod?

The ol' reverso yesterday. 45-40-85, same tees. Took me until #10 to really find a good swing thought, hit the ball a lot more solid from then onwards. Need to find a way to get rounds going that way instead of waiting 6-9 holes to get comfortable.

I'm not the best at decoding REDspeak, but ec_outlaw and I have discussed getting a 2+2 group together in Phoenix/Sunrise AZ. I was tentatively planning a trip in September to take in a Diambacks v Rangers baseball game, but two of my renters are moving out at the end of August and I need to be here to get them rented + it's dove season and I've got access to a honey hole I found last season.

TMI aside

There is a Hampton Inn within golf cart driving distance of the golf community he lives in. He said he could get access to 3-4 carts as well as his and take care of the tee times. I took a look at the average highs and lows temperature wise for those of you that live in the Pacific Northwest because I don't want you to burn to a crisp. October looks ideal, average high 90° average low 64°.

October is a slow month with respect to holidays and if the Diambacks make the post season, I bet he Could finagle some tickets. Or we could grab an Uber and go play some poker (degen pits) at one of the local casinos. Good food out together and fun for all.

Just a thought. PHX should be easy access from anywhere in the country (Canada). Ideally at least 8 would be great, but the more the merrier. I know trying to put something like this together can be like hearding cats but I'll try.

I'm open to any dates that fit with others schedules including ec_outlaw since he is the defacto host. See next post if interested.
