The MMA Thread
Since there's a SE Boxing Thread that evolved out of the PBF/Pac abortion, I thought we should have a SE MMA Thread as w
So I don't think Strickland should win many decisions the way he fought on Saturday. Never dominating (except RD2 when he was on top). Always on his backfoot and just throwing his jab. He's clearly capable of putting on the pressure and knocking guys out, but he was just really defensive for the majority of the fight.

I can't imagine Strickland defending successfully his title once ; who would he beat!?! Dricus...? Imavov...? I cannot envision it and I think that Chamaev would also vanquish him in a rematch, so...
Seems like maybe Chimaev got so tired he knew the grappling was going to end up with him on the bottom getting pounded, something that's hardly ever happened to him, so he pretty much stopped shooting after the all-out first round blitz attempt. Even in the first round as he rode, there seemed a heaviness to Strickland that he wasn't dominating near as much as usual. Could be weakness from the cut, or just Strickland bulk.
how isn't rousey by sub at -155ish free money?
cant see this fight going any other way unless it is rigged
Sweet mma is on Netflix.
Ronda armbar in 45 seconds.
I threw [away] $9.50 on whoever Francis is fighting to win by finish.
This look is awful.
Too much red.
Are they fighting in hell?
Conor vs Max confirmed july 11
Conor drop out via failed drug test.

this was a stimulus for the people
can't see rousey fighting again really, carano was perfect opponent at perfect time
not sure how MVP does MMA going forward either since that card was awful
I've seen worse ufc events.
This one had hype and build up.
Was a fine trial run.
I think it sucked because it wasn't competitive at all.
That would I agree with.
Cool to have the event but next one needs competitive matches or no point.
if there was gonna be a viable #2 to the UFC then i think it would've happened by now
MMA has peaked
For there to be an actual competitor they would need to have
1. Competitive fights
2. Something that sets them apart. A gimmick that doesn't feel too gimmicky.
No rounds. Just 15 straight minutes (25 for main events)
Keep the rounds, but all main events (or title fights) have unlimited rounds. Fight until someone gets KOd, submitted, or can't continue. Take the judges out of the equation.
UFC 329 is going to be a lot of fun : St-Denis vs Pimblett = tons of fun as well as Conor vs Holloway, albeit this will go badly for Mcgregor, imho... Gable should be fun, albeit a fast submission and Sandhagen is always fun
I'll take Connor to pull out before the fight, injury or something else.
Alex Pereira now turning his attention to the Big Screen : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L24CYVpQ...
Pereira is getting a lot of respect to be even money vs Gane imo
1st time at HW, gonna be 39 in a month and Gane has always looked good on his feet. It is vs guys who can grapple that he has struggled with.
And while I respect what Pereira has done, obviously running through 205 doesn't look as impressive when a guy with a torn ACL just won the belt. It is all bums.
Maybe he just touches his chin and it is over but Gane looked very good on his feet vs Aspinall before the stoppage.
Pereira is much better at striking than Tom I'd wager.
2 mins of distance settling then wham Alex becomes the GOAT.
And takes a **** on Donald Trump's head who won't see it coming because he'll likely be asleep.
Darn, what an unexpected surprise : like many ITT - I suppose... - I got Paramount+ when UFC moved to the platform ; little did I know that ALL FIFA games will be streamed for those in LATAM
lot of big favorites on this card
seems like they're going for fireworks/knockouts/viral moments similar to the MVP card
save the competitive and strategic fights for another night
Ok the entrances are pretty cool and it's definitely a spectacle.
