from democracy now

The Democratic National Committee has released a post-election autopsy criticizing the failed 2024 presidential campaign. The release of the long-awaited, 192-page document follows a monthslong pressure campaign by party activists who protested DNC Chair Ken Martin’s decision to keep the report a secret. Martin had said he hoped to prevent a “distraction” ahead of the midterm elections. On Thursday, critics slammed the report as woefully incomplete and unsubstantiated. It makes no mention of President Biden’s decision to seek reelection, nor how Kamala Harris became the Democratic nominee without having to compete in primaries. It also makes no reference to the Biden administration’s support for Israel. Graham Platner, the front-runner among Democrats seeking to challenge Maine Republican Senator Susan Collins in November, wrote, “The words 'Gaza' and 'genocide' appear precisely zero times in the DNC autopsy. Turning a blind eye to crimes against humanity was a grave injustice, and a terrible election strategy.”

Embarrassing!

I mean it really shouldn't be news to me, or anyone, that Dems don't mention why they lost the election. their primary goal isn't to win, it's to maintain the status quo.

they could win every election in a landslide if they wanted to represent the people.

this status quo is unsustainable though.

it is funny though it's 192 pages, and no mention of genocide, or putting up a candidate with a brain that isn't working properly, and replacing Biden with unelected, wildly unpopular Harris.

192 is a suspicious number of pages.

Why?

It's divisible by both 16 and 32 so it perfectly fills out a bookbinder's signature. If it was 193 pages that would waste a lot of paper.

the other day for some reason I was talking to my gf about the military and how awful it is. and she was like "so you think we just shouldn't have a military?" and I was like "hell no! we shouldn't have a military!" and she said that idea is too extreme left??????

we've been together for 5 years!!!!! I have positions way more left than that

made me think like if Mark told his wife about how we need the final solution, and she was like suprised mark would think such a thing

All numbers divisible by 32 are divisible by 16.

All numbers divisible by 32 are divisible by 16.

I wasn't talking about math I was talking about printing presses.

A press is set up for whatever size paper and then you fold and cut that into usually 16 or 32 sheets.

I don't get it.

You said "It's divisible by both 16 and 32" as if that's not redundant (and also somehow not math).

There are zero numbers that are divisible by 32 but are not divisible by 16.

I do know of a number that is divisible by 32 but not divisible by 16. Unfortunately, there isn't room in the margin for proof.

Hmmm

I am talking about whether a press is set up for 16 or 32 pages. You can't divide a press by the number 2, it is a physical thing in the world.

Does that make sense.

Not yet, at least not to me.

How does 192 vs 193 fit into this?

Congratulations! You own a printjng press set up to cut paper down to 32 page signatures.

You get an order for a 192-page book. Takes you 6 signatures. 32 pages each.

You get an order for a 193-page book.
Takes you 7 signatures, doesn't fit neatly so you're using up that whole giant sheet that should be 32 pages for just one page.

It's like electron shells or something. Quantized.

I'm happy to drop it if it still bothers you. I have a lot material.

I'm thinking you can make 192 pages with 12 sheets, cut up 16 times.

to make 193 pages you'd need 13 sheets, and have 15 pages left over.

Now do 16.

Exactly, filthy gets it.

So you can make 192 pages with either 12*16 or with 6*32. Perfect.

What I'm saying is that there is no number of pages that you for which it will work with 32 but won't work with 16. Therefore "divisible by both 16 and 32" is redundant. "Divisible by 32" is sufficient.

It's like how hot dogs come in packs of 10 and buns in packs of 8.

Just kidding that's fine you win.

can't you just have the 7th signature be the 193rd page x16 and you print 1/16th of those?

Exactly, filthy gets it.

story of my life

Skeptical the voting public cares about Gaza.

Democrats last real primary was Obama vs Hillary, Republicans was trump first time.

sadly, you might be right that genocide in Palestine is not a big needle mover with Americans. but either way the Dems intentionally go against our interests in about a zillion ways

they choose corporate power over people power. and we let them

damn this is crazy even with the community note
