Nope, it was to rickroll.

but on a serious note, i do appreciate the irony of you validating there are crazies out there

I didn't say you were homeless, Einstein, but what am I supposed to assume with this type of post? You have been saying that you have to drive hours from Maine or Massachusetts or where ever to have a good date. From what you have shared, you are a successful person with money. If dating is important, then just move. Instead you are telling people not to wear hats at breakfast in Las Vegas and never to wear sneakers on a date.

From your AI generated pic it looks like you are happy, so congrats.

lolololol

so just to make sure i understand your reasoning here: i took an interest in a property owned by my family and from that you concluded i must live with my parents?

i specifically said in that thread that i was in the dark on a lot of the details because my parents weren't reliable narrators and i was trying to figure out what was actually going on. if i lived with them, would i have been in the dark?

same thing with maine. i lived there because i wanted to be near family after a lifetime abroad and because for a remote worker who likes being outdoors and on the water, it's a genuinely great place to live. the dating market was bad, i complained about it a lot here, and that's why i left over three years ago. your advice to "just move" is noted.

also i stand by the sneakers and hat thing. this is not even remotely a controversial position and the fact that stays with you to be brought up here wholly unrelated many years later says a lot more about your own insecurities than anything about me

the broader issue is you're assembling a biography from scattered, years-old posts, and filling the gaps with assumptions. you really couldn't have made my point about creepy lurkers here being the reason it is unwise to share personal details here any better

You honestly think I'm a lurker.

Also, I am somehow now insecure. I'm saying that you should be listening to advice and not giving it.

the lurker thing and being insecure kind of speaks for itself at this point

I can't imagine wearing a hat at breakfast but never wearing sneakers on a date seems to be a stranger rule.

obv there's a difference between wearing your 4yr old runners & wearing some nice, new fashionable sneakers but....at least where I am, overdressing would be a bigger mistake than going a little more casual

idk...perhaps dating where you are is more formal than here. I'm certainly never taking a stranger or someone I've never met before out for dinner or somewhere formal

agree with not eating hats when dining or in someone's home - obviously no hard rules for anything, wearing a hat at your neighbors outdoor bbq obviously ok

i honestly have no idea what he's specifically addressing about the shoes

i don't have any hard rules on shoes myself so idk where that came from

i may have told someone itt that women do look at your shoes and that i stand by so you want to wear something reasonable

would never advocate wearing dress shoes on a first date unless it was a formal setting

judging that they are lumped together in the same thing, it was probably me advising someone not to wear these

really just about signaling you put a basic amount of thought into how you present yourself to the world

This was specifically for a breakfast at the Wynn. You can't imagine wearing a hat at breakfast in Las Vegas where you might have gotten 2 hours of sleep?

Have none of you done a date where you have gone on a run/workout? Or you know, worn a pair of sneakers that might have cost a few thousand dollars.

Rick is just living his life wrong even though it seems like he has everything.

And frankly, I don't really want to be with a woman who cares about such things.

I have already said this. I had an interview with the CTO where he was wearing a hoodie and a hat. WTF cares?

Rick, I can respect things you have done for other posters, but you are wrong about this. Also, you probably can't skate, which for some reason you thing think is a selling point for you.

If it’s a ball cap then I think is absolutely fine. If that’s a translation issue then my bad.

While a cap does fall under the umbrella term ‘hat’ at least here in lolstraya, the term hat would separate it from a ball cap and we’d be talking some kind of men’s fashion hat set up …pork pie, trilby, bucket hat etc which would be a clear no no for me.

Tbh I find it very difficult not to judge men who wear any kind of fashionable hats. They get lumped in with men who dye their hair or get Botox etc. maybe not morally justifiable but there we are

I’m clearly in team sneaker but lol though at…’has no one worn sneakers that cost a few thousand dollars on a date?’’

Ok, but then does it really matter?

My point is that it really doesn't matter. I could be wearing a $500k watch. Apparently rick is the only one that cares about the shoes.

FFS.. if you love a person then show it. Living your life with someone else you love seems great.
