Survivor: GENERAL THREAD
I wanted to post something Survivor related but realized there's no general thread about Survivor. Each thread is about
Pretty boring.
Went as expected.
Yeah I FF'd through a lot of it and that's rare for me.
Thoughts on a play that wasn't made that might have been that could have changed everything - Rizzo plays his idol for Tiff at F5, and they take out Aubry. Rizzo has his big flashy move for the jury, and he devalues Tiff's chances with the jury by basically saying she's gone if I don't intervene. She seems like the type to give Rizzo a fire making pass if she wins immunity at F4, and if she doesn't, both Jonathan and Joe are going to be sending her to fire (and not against Rizzo who's apparently known to be hopeless at it).
New era of Survivor = donβt let strong man win. Go gurl power! Decent season but reminded me of the woke season where they voted based on race and oppression status lol. Aubrey didnβt do much and basically won like Sandra did.

oops remembered this was the special boomerang that could only be played on himself. nevermind
Could Jonathan have won if he'd handled Dee and Tiff better? He either has a subtle flaw in his social game, or in how people percieve him strategically, or failed to gleen the devestating affect of pre game friendships at FTC. If it's the pre game friendships that cost him, he needed to find a way to get Joe and Ozzy on the jury as votes for him...figure out how to swing Rizzo as a vote for him.
Does Jonathan win if he wins the final 4 immunity and gets rid of Aubry? Or can Rizzo talk his way to the win if he gets there? It felt like Joe and Jonathan both got peeled at FTC. Joe so much so, Embot, of all people, was piping up to sooth him periodically.
Jonathan is as dominant of a challenge competitor as it gets, but there wasn't really any push to get him out until very late in the game. Those two things don't usually go together. It speaks to how overlooked his social/strategic game is--it's to a fault. He needs to garner more respect in that area. I think too many people thought they could manipulate him.
I said it at the time, and I stand by it. Jonathan targeting Ozzy was a mistake. Ozzy was more on his side than Aubry. Back stabbing Ozzy and taking credit for it loses you Ozzy's vote. Front stabbing Aubry along with everyone else probably isn't a deal breaker.
Of the three finalists, I think Jonathan and Aubry both played a good game for themselves. There is no "right" way to play the game. You have to play a style that suites YOU while appealing to others enough that they will vote for you in the end. I would have been happy with either of them winning this season based on the respective games they played. Both had a good argument.
It felt as if there was a battle of styles/sides going on in the jury deliberation. There was still an us vs them thing going on there. Straight forward loyalty lost to sneaky adaptability in the game and on the jury. Take note, future Survivor players.
Russell shouldve won
Perhaps the most bored i've ever been during a finale across all 50 seasons.
Mostly as I felt very confident Aubry was going to win from the final 11 onwards due to one of the most heavy handed winning edits from that point onwards in the history of the show.
The highlite was Jeff accidently spoiling fire which had me creasing with laughter at the ameatur hour of it all

Agreed with a lot of this. Ozzy was perhaps the most interesting chess piece in the final ~11. He was Cirieβs meal ticket, but he probably had equity against lots of folks, even Jonathan.

Final 11 seems like a stretch but maybe Iβm not as good as yβall as picking up on the edit clues. I was pretty confident about Aubryβs edit at F7 (after the Ozzy boot). At F11 I thought the edit did a decent job of convincing us a lot of folks still had some equity, with it being obvious (imo) Joe & Steph were drawing 100% dead.
Rupert gets a milly. Adjusted for inflation, Cirie gets less than the value of the toyota
Why didn't they give the vehicle to Jonathan ffs? That's just rude.
Chrissy, Coach, and Stephenie voted for Jonathan. Cirie, Christian, and Rick voted for Aubry. Those of you who thought Jonathan should have won trust the Survivor judgement of the former group over the latter? Joe would have voted for Jonathan. You're on team Joe?
Anybody heard how the mistake happened where Jeff spoiled the fire challenge? All I can find is that someone made a mistake and sent out rizo early. I'd love to know the details on that mistake

On the CBS Morning Show yesterday (all final 5 contestants were on the show), Jeff owned up to being the one who made the mistake.
He said that he wasn't watching the broadcast and thought the fire-making scene had already aired.
Rizo said he was surprised that Jeff called him out early, but at first thought that Jeff was also going to bring Jonathan out to watch the next segment with him in front of the live audience.
Jeff may have owned it, but a big chunk of blame has to go to production. They need to be in his ear telling him what comes next.
Rizo sobbing while reciting his "the man, the myth, the legend, R-I-Z-G-O-D" was absolutely hilarious. What a dolt.
Was an alright season but kind of boring. Predictive markets spoiled it for me.
Who are your top 10 survivor players of all time in order?
I have
1. Tony
2. Parvati
Then it gets kind of murky from there. Not sure I have Sandra at 3 even though she's won twice.
Finally watched. Bad season.
Same. I had hope I wasn't spoiled since I tried not to look once i saw it was there, but it burned in my eyes. Was hoping it was super low liquidity and wrong, but as the season progressed and Aubry was still in, and getting a serious winners edit, it was clear the pm was accurate 'forecasting'.
They need to have that behind spoiler tags and also not tweet out market percentages.
That being said, even if I wasn't spoiled, this was a mediocre season.

I would say it was an entertaining first 2/3 of a season and a pretty dull last 1/3; it's clear they really wanted a slow game to give all the returning players lots of time on screen, but the last few episodes was just a killing spree of uninteresting votes that didn't really live up to the hype.
It was just an Ok season for me.
The power Jonathan got (double immunity from two separate tribals) was way too much....
I can't believe the fans voted for a studio vote reveal
I felt bad for Joe for being so happy that he didn't have to make fire, not realizing that he was drawing dead.
Rizo should have saved Cirie.
A beef I still have is that the final session with jury questions was not long enough and not structured well. This one was a free for all and it turned into partisan pitches rather than meaningful questions.
And, there should be a spot at the end where all three finalists get 2 minutes to outline why they are more deserving than the other 2 finalists.
Oh, and I hated the jumping back and forth from live to island in the 3 hours. I didn't watch any of the live stuff... just FF through the whole thing until vote reveal.
PS. Here is a good story on spoilers.....
> “We went and made our show in a vacuum, and we keep it very tightly contained”
I don’t disagree with any of the proposed Kalshi fixes, but the above quote is pretty laugh-out-loud from Jeff. If I know who spoiled S50, so does he. (And if he’s not aware, even more lol @ tightly contained).

So who spoiled 50?
Jeff has got to go.
Sandra and Tony were villains?
