A lot of Billy's "reasoning" does seem to boil down to variations of "we can approximate a patch of land the size of a football pitch to be flat, ergo the Earth is flat".
Even his dumbass circular argument about plumb bobs is a variation of this - the Earth is flat because gravitational field lines are parallel, which he knows because plumb bobs hang parallel, which he knows because they are perpendicular to the flat Earth (which we approximated to be flat at small scales).
