USA Goes to War Against Iran

Time for a dedicated thread to the war.

How long will it last and what will be the probable outcome?

Can't imagine why the Arab states don't build pipelines and road and rail routes to a port on the Omani coast of the Arabian Sea, or even the Saudi coast of the Gulf of Aden, cutting out the Strait of Hormuz altogether and neutralising Iran's main economic threat. God knows they've got the finance and resources for it. Unless it's just the old story that Arabs, with their clan attitude, are always mutually suspicious and you can't make them pull together on anything.

Convinced Iran is just in on the market manipulation at this point. Not sure how else to explain this constant ''peace deal agreed nvm jk war back on'' cycle we've been seeing for weeks(months?) now.

Pretty sure it's because the US just bombed them on Saturday, Sunday, and today. Pretty sure if you look at the timeline, it's always because either a) they never agreed to a negotiation that Trump said they agreed to, or b) the US or Israel broke a ceasefire during negotiations.

In any case, Trump and Doyle are starting to realize what every other sitting president realized: you shouldn't fukk with people who are willing to die for their beliefs when you aren't also willing to die for yours.

It's amazing that after Iraq (US troops are almost out of there after 23 years) and Afghanistan (US troops left after 20 years) that people think Iran, a much more complex military situation than either Afghanistan and Iraq, was going to not be another multi-decade shitshow (assuming Trump doesn't just get frustrated and H-Bomb them around midterms).

I believe there is a plan to build a canal through the UAE.

You should ask Elway. He’s got sources close to the situation.

He’s gonna ask his friend Ahmed Mohammed

Took them long enough I guess.

Eh. This sort of thing feels like it has always been a feature of negotiations with Iran.

Fair. There's just a lot of money being moved around right around the time of these announcements. Someone is making a lot of money of this war.

Funny I was saying exactly that from the beginning but landolakes can’t stop crashing out since no more schoolchildren have been killed, at least not by the US.

Saying what exactly? You've been all about bombing Iran regardless of the costs from day 1.

I’ve been saying since the start that regime change would require boots on the ground and shouldn’t be our goal. I also said Trump wouldn’t be able to outlast religious fanatics. It’s funny you can’t stop arguing with me because your ego is bruised that I was correct about the bombed school children when I said it was most likely the result of poor information due to Trump gutting our national security agencies. You’re very one dimensional buddy.

So... just bomb the hell out of them for shits and giggs?

You said the bombed school in question (there was more than 1) was an accident. They triple-tapped that school. What an accident...

Why do you like watching men wrestle each other? You know it’s fake right?

Why do you rape women using alcohol and paint? You know that’s rape right?

It has. Iran have always been tough negotiators, and nor do they trust the US.

However, the US has also eradicated its diplomatic corps in what can only be called a bureaucratic bloodbath with disastrous consequences for diplomacy and intelligence. Key positions throughout the world and in your country are not filled, while the filled positions are often staffed by political sycophants and donors which has replaced professional credentials with purchasing power. Though to be fair, the latter is also a problem that plagues the western world in general.

At this point I think about half of your ambassadorial posts are not filled, including key posts in nations important to your ongoing conflicts. Simultaneously, programs such as USAID that are vitally important for diplomatic soft power are effectively shut down.

What you are left with and what the world sees is a very stupid and angry US head of state who governs through rants and AI slop on Twitter, served by a nepotist inner circle that has neither the charisma nor the brains required to fulfill even minimal diplomatic standards.

If your description of world perception is accurate, then I would say the world has a pretty good read on things.

I knew you were a fan of killing innocent muslims, are you also a fan of killing innocent Jews?

Islam has no clergy. The faithful are forbidden to pose as clergy or to follow those who do. They all do one or the other or both those things, of course, leading to the interesting situation of a world religion composed entirely of heretics, but there we are. I don't make the rules.

Essentially their β€œclergy” are scholars, religious instructors, or experts on Islamic jurisprudence. It’s very much similar to a rabbinic model of β€œclergy”.

Yes they don’t have the specific Christian idea of what it means to be a religious leader. I’d point out nondenominational and evangelical churches don’t either.

The rabbinic clergy whatever that refers to isn’t running the show in Israel. Orthodox Jews don’t even serve in the idf. People should strive to have a baseline of knowledge about the involved parties.

As deranged as that man is, he was obviously referring to the ruling class in Iran and not all Muslim religious leaders. I’m not sure how that could be misconstrued.

US House backs resolution curbing Trump Iran war powers

WASHINGTON, June 3 (Reuters) - The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday backed a Democratic-led resolution aiming to stop the Iran war until hostilities are authorized by Congress, reflecting growing congressional concern, even among President Donald Trump's Republicans, over the war.

The House voted 215 to 208, as four Republicans voted with Democrats in favor of the war powers resolution.

I wonder how β€œkill all the Mullahs” could be misconstrued. Clearly it’s everyone else’s responsibility to try to read the tea leaves on what the deranged lunatics have to say.

Bro wut? Maybe strive for that baseline of knowledge yourself, or at least do a quick Google search.
