No idea about 1971

Jim Abbott for 1989?

Garrett Crochet for 2020?

Great job. Abbott and Crochet are correct.

I wanted to throw out a crazy Nolan Ryan guess for the 70's one.πŸ˜ƒ

Final answer was very difficult. Burt Hooton.

never heard of him

never heard of him

He had a good run in the late 1970s and early 1980s. During that time, it probably would have been fair to call him a good No. 2 starter in a major league rotation.

I would say very difficult. It looks like he pitched in 1 game after being drafted, then went to triple-A where he had 100 IP before being brought back up in September.

Given that detour, he probably shouldn't count at all.

Congratulations to the Rays, swept at home by the worst team in baseball.

Ohtani with a .961 ops and 0.74 era.

Leading the league in OBP and ERA (1 inning below requirement currently)

His WAR jumped by 0.7 yesterday. Now at 5.2 through 61 team games.

Now I hear Judge is going to be out for an unspecified time with rib fractures, but could be extensive.

Freddie walked it off last night for the twentieth time in his career (4 more than any active player). It's hard to call a sure fire first ballot Hall of Famer underrrated, but he might qualify. He's a true pro. He handles elite pitching better than most. He handles lefties better than most good LH hitters. He's a real pro, which is why he almost certainly will be a first ballot HoFer.

I mean it’s binary. You’re either a hall of famer or you’re not. Freeman is unquestionably a hall of famer and my stance on that is if you deserve to be one by definition you’re first ballot

Naturally baseball writers being what they are who ****ing knows how long it takes

I don't know what the argument would be in the modern era for not electing him on the first ballot. He's going to finish his career with more than 450 HRs, which is pretty good for a guy who has always profiled as more of a hitter than a pure slugger. And he's been very good to elite defensively for his entire career, albeit at a non-premium defensive position.

I mean your guess is as good as mine but I’m sure they’ll find a way

We’re only a handful of years removed from a year where they legit elected nobody

we should start our own baseball HOF

YESSSS

this As - Brewers Game probably GOTY

lol wtf is going on

Freddie’s definitely a first ballot HOF’er.

I hate to have to share his incredible legacy with Dodger fans… He came up with us, became a star with us. He’ll always get a standing ovation when he steps in the box at Truist.

Ohtani bidding to establish the slashing .300/.400/.500 with an ERA < 1 Club. πŸ˜€

He's at 2.7 offensive WAR and 2.7 pitching WAR. He's in the 3/3 club already, not sure if he's alone there but probably. I'm assuming nobody is in the 4/4 and 5/5 etc

Ruth is in the2/2 club

In 1916 Ruth was a 10.4 WAR guy with 8.8 coming from pitching.
