Oh I thought of two other things- the two times in my life I've seen the casino personally (for me or my family) intervene to prevent a scam. First was at Wynn- security tried to get my WIFE to leave my dad alone LOL. They thought she was trying to hustle an old man haha. I wasn't there but my wife said the look on security's face when my dad tried to explain she was his DIL wa

This brought back memories of a $4,500 video poker hand pay I received back around 2008 at Pechanga casino when some guy saw me get paid and proceeded to remove his shirt and tried to sell it to me for $10..

Not a scam per se... depends how much you wanted his shirt!

It was at 5:00 am so the casino was pretty empty. He was persistent and kept telling me it was a designer shirt. Lol. I actually gave him the $10 and told him to keep his shirt and then got the hell out Dodge (Temecula)..

Day 3

I manage to sleep in a little later than 4am... but not by much. I head downstairs and decide to grind multiline. I just can't get it done on UX and spin- all the high variance games are coming up empty. I assume I'm going to book a loser this trip if I don't get a slot tourney miracle and I gotta give myself some play.

I decide to play "just" 50 lines, start slow and of course I see my second dealt quads of the trip shortly after.

If it ain't premium, it's meh.

Quite a pull here from a pair!

Keep going- get dealt quads for the third time this trip and twice within an hour!

MEH! MEH! I think I've been dealt quad 7s twice this trip. Imagine if they had both been aces!

At some point, that machine cools off and I head to UX/spin to see if it's better... it isn't. Donk back almost everything and I'm + a whole 1k for the AM session. Better than a loser, I guess. I head to Tableau for breakfast.

I know I got this last time I was here with D. It's a great addition to the menu.

After breakfast, I head up to the room to chill before the rebuy rd in the tournament. I decide to be responsible and spend my time squaring away a comped bottle of bourbon. With the Tower Suites bar being closed, it's not easy to just walk up to the bar and make a whole bottle purchase. Plus, the F+B manager I met a few trips ago apparently no longer works at the Wynn, so I had to do the following-
- get F+B manager's number from host
- call, ask for the person (which is how I found out the person I met doesn't work at the Wynn anymore), talk to new manager
- order from room service! Explain I want a specialty bottle. Room service manager talks to F+B manager
- eventually, bottle gets delivered to the room

I had to decide what I wanted from memory and I settled on the Stagg Wynn barrel select. I knew my host said I'd be full RFB but I didn't want to chance it, get some ridiculously overpriced bottle and then end up paying on the back end. Despite my description above, the whole process was actually pretty easy and only took 30 min.

That done, I head downstairs for a very quick session which I believe was breakeven.

Another solid pull.

I mostly took this pic because of the bunny on the unicycle, missed her yesterday.

OK, here we go. If I get some amazing round here, I could literally be 200k+ richer. 150k for the main, plus at least another 75k for taking 1st in the rebuy rd.

Here we go. Here we go. 5 min of heat. That's not asking that much.

Here we go!

ARGH. SO DISAPPOINTING. So now I'm probably looking at a min cash, maybe an outside chance I get 2k free credit. Along with the 500 for signing up and 500 gift, I'm getting 2k-3k max. Have to factor that in.

There's no huge save. There's no huge score here (unless I get dealt a unicorn at the machines).

I decide to head back to hi limit and go for it. I sit down at dollars and play 30 lines (so, 150$/push). I've played this big or bigger before, but I've really been trying to be disciplined since I've been on a short bankroll. I'm owed, damn it!

Good start!

Obv bleed that back and a couple K more before I come to my senses. Gotta head back to the room. I have dinner at Mizumi, then late Awakening tickets later, and I'm probably going to play tomorrow... still a long time to survive. Stuck 1k for the day now.

I take a nap, then afterwards decide to just put on a movie. I settle on Avatar Fire and Ash. The lag is horrible- every 5 min I have to pause the movie, which fixes it for a bit, then the lag comes back. I try shutting everything down, rebooting, etc. No good. When I shut the TV off I ended up having to reorder the movie entirely- what a scam by the Wynn. If I was paying out of pocket I'd be really pissed and would demand it be taken off my bill. The lag never goes away- I end up just dealing with it. Between me falling asleep again in front of the TV, the lag, and the length of the movie, I think I killed 4 hrs! Yay me.

It's now after 6pm. My free credit should be here from the tournament. It is... wow. Somehow I made it into the top half. So I've got 2k + 500 + 500 = 3k free credit. I wash it through the multiline machine.

What a pull!

So my one regret here is that I haven't gotten trip aces like this in ANY other setting other than the quarter machine. Multiline dollars? Nah bro, zero premium trips there. UX/spin? Fugeddaboutit. So while these are always welcome, this trip is just so mistimed. Only reason I'm not down more is I've been super disciplined/craps hasn't been bad.

I think I was up about 5k before I decide to try hi limit, yet again... and it's garbage. OF COURSE IT IS. Lose 2k on UX. Move to spin. Lose 2k. Move to dollars multiline- lose 1k. AND, I'm even for that session again. SO SO SO TILTING. Only smart thing I did was rage quit in time for dinner.

So since I've got comp to burn, I decide to get the lobster tempura. It was pretty good- 8/10 and 10/10 for presentation. Obv got some other stuff too. I had to force myself to eat the lobster bc of the GLP-1, it seemed so wasteful to leave so much of it... I ended up ridiculously stuffed. Mizumi was better than avg this time.

After dinner, I decide to skip Awakening. I didn't like it last time and booked it only to have something else to kill time if I were dead and buried. Well, I'm not, so... I think I'm down about 10k for the trip now which is certainly not the worst. I'm disappointed, to be sure, but strangely proud of myself for being so disciplined. So I head back to multiline quarters and quickly lose another 2k. Zero draws, zero anything actually. Now I'm stuck 3k for the day.

OK, let's head to craps.

I decide to play crapless. Before I get to the Encore, I reason that on Sat night the crapless table has far more of a chance of being open (which ends up being true). I also have wanted to play more crapless, but I couldn't find a way to bet that I would be comfortable with and still give me an opportunity to make a score. In practicality, what that means is I'm comfortable betting 330-440 per roll. At a normal craps table, that would look like-
- 75-90-90-75 or 100-120-120-100 on even numbers.

At crapless, I'd have to bet 2, 3, 11 and 12 as well, bc WTF am I playing there for otherwise? And they'd have to be 50$ each, bc I "don't" want to just hit 2 or 12 at 25$.

Fortunately, I figured out a way (for me). Any time I've bet just 60 on 6 or 8, I've happily jammed both to 90 (and not picked anything up). 4 and 10 at 50 each go to 75, I pick up 50$. That's not bad. And if that happens I'm right at my "starting" bet of 330 on the even numbers. So if I get 3 and 11 for 50 each, that's 320$ outlay. Hmm, need 2 and 12... I decide I'll get those for 25$ each only and if I hit just full jam both to 100$. If I can be so lucky to hit 2 of them in a roll, that's a 600$ hit. I'll consider the initial 50$ throwaway money. So now I'm looking at a 370$ outlay which I can live with, more likely to pick up chips than at a normal craps table, point 7 out kills me just the same... let's do it. All I need now are some outside numbers! No 5 or 9, but hey, something's gotta give.

The table is actually quite crowded. I have a flag and about 600$ in chips on me. I decide to just use the 600 first, keep the flag in the rack. Let's see what happens.

I walk in in the middle of a shooter's roll (after he made his point). Shockingly I don't cause an instant out, and pretty soon my roll is paid for. The shooter is just torturously slow, but I reason at least I'm killing time. I think I won a couple hundred after his roll. This is so much different than my last few forays into crapless and continues the trend of craps being the one bright spot this trip.

The dice come to me- I pass, obv, the line bet is a total sucker bet on crapless. It goes to a dude I've played with several times this trip- good energy, friendly. Doesn't make the smartest bets but he has some clue and he's a fun person to play with.

OMG. What a run.

First of all, let's just say he was hitting tons of numbers. I got 6 up to 600 from 50 starting, I believe 4 and 10 might have been at 200? 3 and 11 also at 200$. But the real money maker...

This guy just crushed 2 and 12. He hit one and as planned, I full pressed and left all the money out there. 2 and 12 at 100 each...

BOOM. 2! Collect 500$ and press the 2 to 200.

BOOM! 2! Collect 1000, press the 2 to 300 and 12 to 200.

BOOM!!!! 12! Collect 1100, press the 12 to 300.

BOOM!!! 2! Collect 1400, 2 and 12 go to 500 each. This is total uncharted territory for me. Biggest I've ever had was a 300$ 2 at Stratosphere way back in the day. Now I've HIT 300 once. Come on... one more... one more...

BOOM!!!!!!!!12!!!! That's a 3k hit folks. I press both to 600 each and collect 2800$.

Rack pic. LOOK AT ALL THOSE PURPLES!!!!

Alas, the roll comes to an end... man that was fun. 6 2s and 12s!!!!

I play on for a bit more. Small loser... small winner... PSO, PSO. OK, time to go. I think I was up 9k for that session! More importantly, I've got a new way to play crapless from here on out! Obv my thinking is colored by how magical that roll was, but I think I'm going to prefer this way. Statistically, 1 in 3 rolls will get me a 100$ 2 and 12, and now we've got a chance at a big hit. 1 in 3 of THOSE rolls WILL be a big hit with potential for more. As it gets bigger and bigger, at least it gets more and more fun. Anytime I see a 1 or a 6 on one of the dice I'll know I have a shot... esp if I also have 3 and 11.

OK, let's do some math... I'm basically even for the trip! You know what that means... head to VP, keep this going!

OR NOT. Good lord the machines are just cold. I donk off 5k before I head upstairs. Just can't make a run on the machines.

Day 3 result- +1k
Overall- -6.5k
Dealt quads- 3

Final Day (AM)

Nothing to report here. I've got room service breakfast all dialed in, car leaves for the airport at 8:15am. Let's book a winner!

I head downstairs intending to coast on the quarter multiline machine. Unfortunately, it ends up being deader than the rest of the trip and I lose 5k really fast.

HELLO TILT MY OLD FRIEND.

I head to hi limit, AGAIN. It can't be bad this whole trip, can it? I've had 50k final AMs in the past, haven't I?

So I've gone from touching even, to down 6.5k with one AM to go, to now being down over 10k, and I still want to play... Tilt tells me that anything under a 15k loss is not a big deal for me. So I play. And it sucks. I get down to 15k stuck for the trip and now thoroughly on tilt decide let's just make it an even 10k for the AM. I move to the single line machine in hopes of ANYTHING. Nope.

Stuck 16.5k for the trip. 10k of it within 2 hrs today. FUKFUKFUKFUKFUK

I cash out all my chips and tickets, eat a room service breakfast that was decidedly mediocre and GTFO, tail between my legs, pissed at myself but not felted.

MAYBE THE MACHINES WILL WAKE UP SOMETIME THIS CENTURY!

Day 4 result- -10k
overall- -16.5k

Postscript-
not much else to say other than I can't believe how many hands I played this trip. I cycled in 12k hands which is definitely above avg for me. I hit the expected number of quads, but def not the expected number of premiums. Never got dealt premium trips and hit once when it really would matter (eg UX, spin). Hit plenty at quarters, can't hit at dollars. Tough to win that way. So, so frustrating to cycle that much and not be on the right side of variance. I'm quite happy with how disciplined I was MOST of the trip, and of course I've found my old love for crapless. So I'm looking forward to my next trip, but if these machines don't turn soon... I'm still going to be scared money. Oh yeah, and shockingly the tournament was a bust, again. Sheesh.

Thanks for reading!

Years ago was at flamingo playing and I saw that scam happening on the UX machine next to me.

It happened at Harrah's LV for me so it might have been one of the same people.

Glad to hear the Mizumi tempura lobster was good.

Every time I have tried tempura lobster, chicken fried lobster, etc., even at fine dining restaurants, it has been entirely overpriced and not that good.

Funny, now on the GLP-1 heading to week 3 I am not sure I could even eat anything deep fried. It just doesn’t sound good. So weird not to even crave fried chicken anymore..

Ouch on the brutal last day and not managing the points you needed in your last slot tourney round. Oh well I guess.

Random aside - I cannot figure out Vegas food pricing. How is it a breakfast sandwich with egg, turkey, and sweet peppers on an english muffin can be $31 if a Wagyu beef and lobster roll is $48? Somebody explain that one to me.

I really thought twice about ordering it for that exact reason. And then of course I had to talk myself into eating most of it. First world problems...

I can't either but I'm sure they've got mountains of data/spreadsheets that tell them exactly what they can charge to maximize profit etc. In regards to breakfast vs Japanese, I could theorize that since the Wynn doesn't have many breakfast options (esp since Jardin is down now), they probably know they can gouge the customer (who probably doesn't want to relocate for breakfast). Japanese dinner, however, there are tons of options and maybe they've already hit the upper limit on what they can gouge before people start going elsewhere, etc?

On a glp as well, and still love looking at the food pics/menu (as I happily munch a mini-carrot). Thanks for the TR

Yeah, I still love the food pics. I used to even drool at some of Leon’s photos. Not anymore.

It’s pretty amazing what the GLP has done to eliminate so much of the ‘food noise’ in my brain..

oof. Only just read that last day report.

Finally have a reason for an update! As people may remember, I've been laying low at the local, trying to restrict myself to once a month and saving my bankroll for Vegas.

Things started off terribly- blew right past my stop loss and hit the ATM. Was just about to leave when I decided to play spin poker (which has basically been death for me in Vegas x 1 billion recently). Finally got dealt premium quads- over the last 40k hands I've only been dealt premium quads once, so I've been under-premium'd by about 3.

REALLY need a good kicker draw here!

I realize it's impossible to see, but I hit one out of three slots. So quad 2s w/ kicker 4 ways, without 8 ways.

Play on, immediately move back to multiline and step up. I'm coasting for a bit, then things turn south. I'm up 5k... 4k... 3k... tilt is starting to set in. I decide to switch back to spin poker. I'm up only 2k when I hit...

!!! Been a long ass time since I've been dealt the nuts.

FINALLY. Switch back to multiline and step up again, trying to hit a grand slam. Alas, not to be and I give back too much but I still manage to lock in a 40k winner. Been a long time since I've had a day this good.

BOINGA!

Long overdue. Congrats!

BOOM!
Those are the hands it takes.

oh my goodness!

Hell yeah!
