From what the uber driver's told me if I made wrong turn I could end up in some of the toughest areas in the country.

SE quadrant of DC has some really sketchy neighbourhoods in it for sure, not a safe place, and not that far from Oxon Hill.

I was actually curious about walking from MGM national harbor to surrounding areas.

I'm sure if you drive to a rich neighborhood you'll be fine.

Your uber driver is wrong unless you somehow made a 4 mile wrong turn walking on a highway over a body of water and into Anacostia.

I answered your question about walking. Oxon hill is where MGMNH is. I guess i should also say dont stay in/walk from the dc side but im pretty sure that staying that far and walking would be kinda preposterous.

The area around the casino isn't really walkable.

Can't you walk to the Ferris wheel? (I never tried)

I haven't tried it either, but it looks dangerous. No sidewalks and tons of traffic.

On the plus side, you can play a liver version of Frogger just by going to Wawa!

You can walk to places in National Harbor. I did when I worked there. It's about a 15 minute walk to the outlet mall and about 25 minutes to get to the Ferris Wheel.

It's mostly roads/highways (though there are enough walking paths that you can do it as long as you pay attention to your surroundings) and you often find yourself walking through a park. It's all prime real estate for businesses otherwise and if you do walk towards a residential area, the immediate ones are all not cheap and as such not scary.

They are running a $600 high hand on 6/18, the minimum possible prize to trigger a tax form. Everyone else knows to make it $599 but not mgmnh.

That's bizarre, it's been $599 pretty often for years (as well as other amounts). Why on earth would they change that to $600?

They changed it because tax law changed. The new limit requiring a MISC-1099 form be issued is $2,000.

Ah! I won a $500 HH a few weeks ago, wasn't expecting a tax form but the floor said "good job no tax on these now!" as it was pulling a $500-$1500 from a bucket, now it makes sense given $1500 wouldn't have done it either.

You didn’t know about the tax law change? Quick, the Associated Press wants to interview you, DM me for the reporter’s info haha wow remember when actual gamblers posted on this site? Those were the days.

Let’s hope Barry Diller is less of a ghoul than current MGM management, I hit a punk 6k jackpot in a few spins that a well known middle eastern rec built up in high limit and they shut off the machine after they paid me and it’s still shut off. They can turn poker into a carnival game with the promos and high rake, they can check all IDs to keep the card counters and hole carders out, they can lower the comps, but are they just going to put a sign up that being competent in basic math is illegal in these casinos now? Note: this isn’t for the posters in this thread other than maybe AA and a few others that can AP comp programs, it’s for the MGM staff reading, including the crooked hosts stealing from the casino and the players, that only want dummies and syndicate players to win.

Paid parking starting July 13th. Free for all MGM rewards members

Paid parking starting July 13th. Free for all MGM rewards members

What exactly is a "rewards member"? I have a player's card. Does that make me a rewards member? Or is it some additional tier for those who play table games?

How much does it cost to park for those who aren't rewards members?

You're fine with a players' card. $15 without one.

but I think you'll need to put your license plate into your profile, not sure if you can just show a players card

I would guess you only need a players card

Jesus Christ on a pogo stick, the players card at MGM is called MGM Rewards.

Yes, this isn't complicated

So im guessing this is a stepping stone to requiring a pearl card for free parking, which isnt necessarily a bad thing, because it might lead to us finally being able to earn status from hours of play like they do in vegas.

Also, i heard there was a promo running today where you could spin a wheel based on your tier, but their promo was screwed up, and you could just click wharever one you wanted, so people were getting $1k/$5k/$25k of slot dollars and they gave away over $500k of free slot dollars before cutting off the promo, and then they had to give everyone who showed up after $25 in food credit as an apology for the spin not being down. Chalk a win up for the degens lol.
