Oilers interested in Babcock is max lolz

This! Wtf are they thinking? LOL

Not like they've got any superstar they'd need to worry about keeping around

That might be Lavi's last head coaching gig. The Kings just don't have the juice and he's in retread territory now

lol yeah i was gonna say it didn't work for the flyers, or preds, or caps or rag$, but it might work for us

cant believe the loilers are actually hiring babcock, and during the summer of marner, incredible stuff. has mcbust sent his trade demand yet?

Jesse PuljujΓ€rvi has reportedly lost his World Championship gold medal in the Helsinki area

never go fill o-dog

They had a goat sing the National Anthem πŸ˜ƒ

larkin's trade list supposedly minnesota, florida and vegas

drw should just negotiate with whoever and then bring it to him when they have a deal they like. i mean lol demanding a trade with 5 years left on your contract and giving them three options to work with. do you want out or not?

Ya tell him to pound sand. In 2 years, his contract changes to 10 team trade list.

checking in on the loilers subreddit to get the vibe on babcock, and, once again, the top-rated threads:

**** Mike Babcock. That is all.

If they hire Babcock, I'm out.

Bob??? WTF???!??

[this is about some media guy defending the move]

convinced bowman is trying to destroy the oilers

MOTHER****ING **** ON A STICK

The Edmonton Oilers have turned themselves into a ‘second chance’ organization.

Mike Commodore Talks About His Hatred of Mike Babcock

TIL Mike Babcock healthy scratched Mike Modano and prevented him from hitting 1500 games played by 1 game before Modano retired

(Same with scratching spezza in the season opener he invited a ton of friends/family to)

i forgot about the modano thing. and spezza

then there's how he ****ed with johan franzen ..... for some reason (??)

Now 46, FranzΓ©n lives a quiet and largely isolated life in the Swedish countryside. He says he is highly sensitive by nature and prefers to keep a small circle of friends who understand that he may only reach out once a year.

Despite his successful NHL career—which included over 700 games, a Stanley Cup championship, and a World Championship gold medal—FranzΓ©n says some of his darkest memories came from his time in the NHL.

For the first time, he revealed that he suffered from PTSD for seven years, largely due to the treatment he received from a coach.

“He woke up one day and decided to hate me. To this day, I don’t understand why.”

FranzΓ©n described being publicly humiliated in front of teammates, benched immediately after being sent onto the ice, and singled out during practices.

“The worst was when he stopped practice just to stand there and yell at me for several minutes in front of everyone. I was completely broken. I was shaking and didn’t know where to go.”

He says those experiences stayed with him for years:

“He lived rent-free in my head for far too long.”

seems like there's a million similar stories with this dipshit

It's really on brand that Vegas gets away with holding their old coach hostage and the teams that were going for him just say OK and immediately go for the lowest upside/highest downside options, respectively

Not hostage as they are paying him 4.5 million for his rights. Many teams will not trade in a division and I get why they would not want Edmonton to have him .

The only part of this that made me smile was the suggestion that the Oilers owner is actually a 9 year old who only hires coaches with phallic last names (Hitchcock, Tippett, Woodcroft, Knoblauch, and now Babcock).

What an unmitigated disaster Babcock will be.

oh, here's another one / more on franzen:

Franzen also confirmed a story Chris Chelios revealed during Monday’s episode of the podcast, "Spittin’ Chiclets." The incident happened during Game 5 of the Wings’ 2012 playoff series against Nashville.

β€œSome of the things he (Babcock) said to him (Franzen) on the bench, I don’t know what he said to him behind closed doors one-on-one, but he blatantly verbally assaulted him during the game on the bench,” Chelios said. β€œIt got to the point where poor Johan, no one really knowing he was suffering with the concussion thing and the depression thing, he just broke down and had nervous breakdown, not only on the bench but after the game in one of the rooms in Nashville. β€œIt was probably one of the worst things I’ve ever seen.”

The incident still haunts Franzen, who was forced to retire in 2015 after repeated head injuries caused him to suffer from post-concussion syndrome. He and his family returned to their native Sweden this past summer.

β€œI get the shivers when I think about it,” Franzen told Expressen. β€œThat incident occurred against Nashville in the playoffs. It was coarse, nasty and shocking. But that was just one out of a hundred things he did. The tip of the iceberg.

β€œHe would lay into a couple of the other players. The nice team players, the guys who don’t say very much. When they left the team he went on to focus on me. It was verbal attacks, he said horrible things.”

β€œFrom 2011 on, I was terrified of being at the rink,” Franzen said. β€œThat’s when he got on me the first time. I just focused on getting out of bed every morning from that moment. Last year I could sleep naturally for the first time since then. β€œIt was just his attacks, playing in my head. Each and every day.”

anyway, shithead coach for a shithead team...

yeah, katz's kid. right?

Bussi gotta be starting tonight right?

Regardless, I’m on under 6 -115

And also rooting for my VGK +110 series.

Babcock legendary idiocy hire.

Rod is a stubborn guy, and I'm expecting it to be Freddie. Rod also really loves and believes in Freddie, which can sometimes be a loyal players' coach's downfall. You have to take feelings and emotions out of it, especially in spots like this.

I'll be pleasantly surprised if it's Bussi. I want it to be Bussi and think he's earned a shot with his play during the regular season, plus 2+ periods in game 3, especially combined with Freddie's poor finals play.

We won't find out any earlier than Rod has to show his cards, so I guess we'll find out in a little while during warm-ups.

I’d prefer Bussi for my under. But the book convinced me to go under w their senseless numbers and the first 3 games were score fests and I feel like they’re gonna rein it in a little bit tonight. Like all the point scorers are priced cheaper than last game and the under 6 is juiced to -115? They’re begging you to bet the over…so don’t.

the other funny thing about babcock is how he hasn't won a playoff round since 2013; five 1st-round exits have followed. not sure there's evidence of him actually being a good coach, but yeah he can sometimes win if he has like a dozen hall-of-famers to roll out there... sick

wait, he only won 1 cup? lmao

thought he had multiple from detroit, and that one in anaheim, but that was actually randy carlyle. the ducks won only after they fired babcock, and he only managed to parlay those wings teams from 2006-2015 into one title. incredible. he's actually so much worse than i thought

Sounds like he poorly negotiated/drafted his contract. Yes most teams would give permission, but Vegas in their rights not to. Guessing once playoffs are over they'll set him free.

Bussi. I hope he elevates.

Freddie isn’t even dressed.
