What'd You Shoot Today? (Golf BBV Thread)

I think this forum could use a BBV thread, so here it is.

Have been attacked by what I assume is the same bird 4 times this week. Apparently his nest is near the right side of the green. First 2 times he snuck up behind me and hit the back of my head. Didn’t hurt, but startled the hell out of me.

Next day I was looking for him. My tee shot ended up right of the green, but when I approached my ball I kept my eye on the pond where his nest is. Sure enough here he came, but I waved my hat at him so he backed off.

Today I was really close to the pond. He was nowhere to be found, but the instant I addressed my ball to chip it here he came out of nowhere.. I explained the situation to the guys I was playing with so they kept an eye out and one of them alerted me. I turned and yelled at him. He yelled back at me in his bird tongue. I hastily chipped it to within 3-feet and made par.

(Below ain’t him, but it’s the same type of bird.)

pure poetry

BigEasy playing birdie golf.

92(49/43)

I was swinging pretty well early until a disaster par 5 sixth. It took me a couple of holes to get back on track.

I really really need to focus on every swing. When I'm swinging well I have a tendency to just sort of get up there and wail away instead of taking my time. I've found if I just stop and take a few seconds to do three things, I do quite well. 1) square the club face properly 2) slow down my backswing (a lot) 3) keep my head down. It's quite amazing what happens when I do all three. I just need to do it on every single swing.

Anyways, putter is still a work in progress. I could have easily shaved 5 strokes by putting well. I will say, they just aerated the greens and they were bumpy and very slow, but even then I could have done better.

48-40-88. 1 birdie, 5 double bogeys, 1 triple bogey. 70.3/133/6121

A very strange round. Had all of my others on the front nine - a birdie, two pars, the five doubles and a triple. Ball striking started out awful but was decent on the back.

94(48/46) Standard round for me. Driver was a little off. Lost 3 balls and a couple disaster holes, but also got 6 pars. Greens are still unpredictable. Came up short on 3 putts but overall my putting is improving.

still dealing with a bum elbow and course conditions are pure
i'd be happy to be able to shoot any sort of score right now

heal up soon my friend

47-47 with a 9(!) on 18. 69.5/126 from 6250 yards

started off pretty strong +4 through 5, some modelos caught up with me though and played 6-11 in like +15. Messy. But i calmed down by 12 and was grooving, then hit a ball in the road on 18 and couldn't recover. Too bad.

Curious, is this golf related?

yep.
result of a few beneficial swing changes stressing tendons in ways they are not accustomed to
aka golfers elbow, first time on the right side though

Ugh, sorry to hear that Red.

39 (par 36). No birdies, no double bogeys.

That was fun. Wind was crazy on a wide open course, I flighted everything low and kept it in play for the most part. Putter was pretty warm too, including about a 90 footer from off the green.

So, I'm gonna blame this round on the two guys I played with. We'll just call them Grumpy Gus and Angry Al.

I sprayed the ball all over god's green earth today. I haven't been this erratic since early on in my 'career'. I lost FIVE!, count 'em, FIVE balls on the front nine. One more on the back for a total of six. Haven't done anything like that in forever.

It's a shame because I was really good around the green and the putter was fine. I just never gave myself a chance off the tee or fairway. Honestly, I have no clue how I broke a hundred but I ended up with 99(52/47). That's a great score considering how awful I swung today.

You working with torsion bar (theraband flex bar) or other PT type exercises to work through this? When I got some golfers elbow in my lead arm, I did a program from rippetoe called pin firing protocol which is effectively just a boatload of chin ups in a structured plan (effectively 20 sets of 2-3 chin ups every three minutes for an hour, depending on your capabilities).

I found it effective to treat the golfer's elbow with the benefit of just being a fantastic workout for arms back and, particularly and surprisingly, abs.

More info here https://startingstrength.com/resources/f...

My business partner also came down with golfers elbow and said that the only thing that worked for him was accupuncture.

Little better today. 90(47/43)

2 birdies
2 pars
8 bogeys
6 doubles

Nothing over double. Even with losing a couple balls. Kinda happy about that.

I had 165 to the pin for my second shot on the par 4 18. Was less than a foot away for eagle. sooooo close.

25th complete round of the year. (33rd set of 18 holes on the year.)

Best round of the year.
Par 72 6,200 yards 70.3/124 HomeCourse
81 (41/40)
1 birdie, 9 pars, 6 bogeys, 2 doubles.
4/14 fairways, 9/18 greens
3 1-putts, 1 3-putt. 34 putts.

One double was a 3-whack disaster on a par 3. The other was a pulled 3rd into the water on a par 5.
Took a week off to go to Vegas with MrsTBE, and the break seems to have agreed with me. Swinging freely and loosely now. Finding the center of the club face much more, which has made for much better 2nd shots. Pounding the ball. Irons flying high and stopping tight. Hope that continues.

68 -1 in a club comp round my local.

4 Birdies
3 Bogeys

Highlight birdie come on 17 tough hole toe'd the crap out of the driver but had a slight draw on it and turned out decent. Hit a PW from about 140 to about 15 feet and holed the putt.

Best I've played in a while. Hit a few iffy shots but other than that it was good. Solid putting today.

Didn't win the comp though was a Stableford, I shot 41 points and winner got 44 just happy to put a good score together should get my handicap down a bit.

nice shooting’!

44-42-86. 1 birdie, 2 double bogeys. 69.3/132/6105

Didn't do anything well, but most things were not a disaster.

Started out ok, then everything fell apart on 6, going quadruple-triple. The quadruple was just me being stubborn and dumb. Tried to sneak it through a bunch of trees unsuccessfully. Anyways, finished the front with a 53. Got my swing back on the back nine for a 43 for a 96 total.

I've been working on lag. It's a definite work in progress. Lots of mishits and just not getting it right. However, I got a pretty good swing on a drive on a par5 that is 452 to the pin. Followed it up with a nice 3-wood and got it 10' from the green. That's huge distance for me. I haven't been able to get that same lag with my irons yet, but I'm working on it. I really think I have a lot more in me distance-wise.

49-48-97. No birdies, multiple doubles and triples. 70.3/133/6121

Could not execute any kind of shot for the first 15 holes, every swing was different and nearly all of them were bad. Hit on swing thought #50, had three consecutive great shots and then promptly 3 putted from 15 feet. Argh. At least it was the best I've felt physically all season.

We'll see what tonight brings.

Posted a 92-86 on Wednesday-Thursday last week, pretty poor efforts. The 92 particularly was a Ray-Ray round, back nine weather got pretty ugly and I let things get very sloppy but still felt really confident in how I have been hitting it. Just hadn't been getting enough reps or any practice, which has hurt the short game.

Followed those up tying my best ever score, 38-35-73 (+2), 70.2/124/6481. Three bogeys before a birdie on 9, and parred out the back. Have a 73 on a different course which was a par 72, so not my best score in relation to par.

Good score could be just around the corner.

41 (par 35). 1 birdie, 1 double bogey.

Much better. Chipped in on the first hole. Next chipping opportunity was on #5, thought I made another one but it lipped out. That's way above the usual average. Had two putts lip out, otherwise it would have been quite a decent round for my current game.

well hello captain biggerboaster,

it is easy to grin when your ghin comes in
and you have the stroke marking beat
but a meme worthwhile is one who can simile
like an ass hugging pair of jeans

suggest skip thinking of it as a one time splurge instead ritually habit forming
